Born on 2003/05/14. 43 million skill points and counting.
I've been here since Beta 4 and played almost continuously. I've been in the same corporation since the beginning and watched it rise and fall. I've mined and hunted. I've run missions for weeks on end. I've got my faction battleships.
I've won the T2 lottery and made a few billion.
I've been all over the galaxy. I have friends and enemies. I have brought newbies into the game and given them starting cash. I've been ripped off and paid back. I have a hit list and a friend list. I've joined alliances and left them. I've role-played and given up on it.
I have alts as old as I am. I have a second account with an alt at 42.7 million skill points, that one turns 4 years old this summer.
I've petitioned and bug-reported. I've uploaded crashlogs and screenshots and movies. I've been hunted and killed. I've been gatecamped and killed. I've been hunted and ransomed. I've been chased by powerful forces through a dozen systems and escaped with my hull intact. I've escaped from m0o, Burn Eden, Evolution, M3G4, and Shinra among others. I've jumped through gatecamps in a pod and lived to tell about it. I've operated in areas under alliance warfare and made money from both sides. My implants have been in my head for more than two years.
I've joined with event staff to kill invaders. I've joined in player events. I've gambled and won, gambled and lost. I've created can art and removed it. I've bought and sold and invested. I've been broke and rich. I've owned the best of the best and worst of the basic.
I've killed myself with stupid mistakes.
I own ships that left the manufacturing plant more than 3 years ago. I own ships that are fitted with modules just as old. I can fly most ship types. I've built most ship types.
I've set goals and reached them.
I've set goals and failed.
But lately I'm getting bored. Lately all I'm doing is watching my wallet slowly count up and tweaking buy/sell orders. I haven't fired a shot in a couple of months. So I'm wondering what the other old players do to keep this game fresh.

That post reminded me of the last speech from Bladerunner.
As a much newer player I can't offer much advice, but have you tried piracy or more pvp in general?

Thanks for the suggestions folks, and the quotes.
But:
PVP: For me that means getting back into roleplay/alliances which means getting back into a lot of big corp/alliance drama which was the reason I left those things behind in the first place. To me there's no point to warfare except as a means of gaining/protecting territory.
Piracy/corp theft: Nope, got a reputation to protect and I'm a bastard, but not THAT much of a bastard.

Tbh, most people pirate - Theres the corps that are Pirates. Then theres the players who pirate. Then theres everyone else who goes to empire at the weekends, and has fun. my reputation isnt tarnished by pirating. No reason why yours should be. If anything, it'll boost it.

There's plenty of smaller based, no strings attached, more or less no standings, good PVP corps out there. Maybe try that out if you don't like the drama that comes along with the bigger corps and alliances?

Buy an oupost egg. Buy filler. Buy 3-4 lagre POS + lots of guns and hardeners. Find a nice quiet 0.0 system not too far from empire, and hire mercs to hold a support fleet couple jumps from it. Go around scouting and hauling stuff with your alts and corpies. Dump the posses at day 1, dump the egg at day 2, 1 hr before DT. Sing something stupid on TS/Vent and browse forums during DT. Hug your new toy sitting out there in the middle of nowhere. Quit your corp. Join a roving pirate corp or form one yourself. Attarct more people to it with your flawless reputation. Take over the outpost and go around hunting your former corpies.

Edited by: Jacob Castillo on 14/05/2007 20:27:23 Support the poorest pirate in EVE! Send me ISK!
On a more serious note, you can always just go and shoot stuff with friends, without the involvement of 0.0 politics and stuff. Although I realize you do have a reputation you want to keep, maybe you should try to just keep it simple, shoot whatever moves, be an outlaw. It makes life a bit more interesting.
Even then, if your still bored, maybe you should try taking a break. Play a few other games, but keep your skills training at the same time. After awhile, you might want to get back into the game and do stuff. If not, then maybe it should be time to close your account? No point in paying for anything that does not interest you anymore.
EDIT: I should probably add that, while I have not been playing EVE for nearly as long a time as you have, it does begin to lose the fun factor after awhile. I guess you could say that I am entering a 'stasis' period as well, becoming a station hermit
P.S: If this post makes any sense at all, the universe will be imploding upon itself shortly.

I'd suggest either getting a capital ship (something dandy like a Mothership - something noticable.), establishing an alliance and creating an Outpost (permanent in game as of now), or perhaps, going pirate. I'd say you should go for establishing something big. - "The Mains Created the alts They rebelled They look...and feel...human Some are programmed to think they are human There are many alts. Bounty hunting has a reputation as the hardest profession.
How about starting a bounty hunting corporation? You could advertise your bounty hunting service everywhere you can.

Sounds like you have about done it all... that being said, after 4 years in the game, something has to cause you joy (some call it fun)... do what ever that is.
If you found helping a Noob get started was fun... do it more... If you found dealing with the market fun... do it more... Exploration, Missions... if they are fun, do some more...
you also said: "I've set goals and failed."
Try again...
You say you have 43 million SP... wow, nice... but 50 million would be really impressive... or 60 million... or 70 million... if that is what you care about... but only you really know that.
Something in this game keeps you logging on... what ever it is, there you go... do it more...
Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for... it's out there somewhere... but only you will be able to tell what it is.
Noob in training...

Well there are a few options.
1) Start a new character and see how you can build yourself up in Eves current state without any help from your main character and set yourself some fresh goals from there.
2) Set more ambitious goals even if they seem nearly impossible.
3) Just take a break. Eve's just a game when you get right down to it so if you're bored with it, play somthing else until the interest returns.

If the idea of your reputation and piracy bothers you, you could try (dare I say it) anti-piracy. If shooting -5 and below players your sec status won't be affected and you could argue that this is a good thing for your reputation.
If you do this so, please stay away from me - I have less than 10% of your SP!

Congrats on making it this far. I'll be 4 years here myself in a week, and just my luck I got my first t2 bpo on Mother's Day!
After many breaks, I'm finally comfortable on what Eve has to offer me. I got near 53mil skill points, and if you want my advice... join an alliance. Stop all the productions, those long hauls, those boring minings, the buying and selling... and just head out to 0.0 with nothing but you and your new alliance, and start growing a new home there. Go ratting, get into pvp gangs, protect space, and use what you have gained to fund yourself with fun and exciting gameplay!
Or, door #2... get into capital ships... mothership... titans! Jump a carrier of your best assest to 0.0 and make the best of it. And, if you like... sell t2 in 0.0 ... its VERY profitable.
