I wonder if everyone knows that if you want to acquire some %subj (say, to present noble-looking monocle as a NY gift), you don't really have to waste a plex for it - but rather you can buy some Aurum Tokens from Contracts, for a 2x lesser price! |

Buy a plex for ISK and change plex into aurum, problem solved.
The other option would be to purchase the items directly from the market. |

On the other hand, Aurum Token costs abour 90 mil in contracts - i.e. 2.5x more tokens for the same price, which is the thing I was trying to say

Correction: you can buy Noble Exchange items from the market for about 1/10th the ISK value of the PLEX that was destroyed to buy them. |

In theory, you can buy some items even at 1/20 of isk value of the plex that COULD have been destroyed to gain the aurum required. In reality, though, there were no plexes destroyed to acquire these items and put them on market... These items (mostly cheap crap) were bought for the free aurum given during promotional events.
OTOH, you were able to receive for free what? 4500 or even 5500 aurum? Not really enough to buy a monocle This is why you can't buy monocles from the market for "1/10 value". For 1/2 value - maybe... for a short time... while there are still some cheap Aurum Tokens in contracts. The same applies on "Field Marshal" coat. |

I was thinking more along the lines of buying Aurum from other players. There's certainly a LOT of unused Aurum sitting around from when CCP gave the stuff away. Even when free most players weren't interested. It would be nice for players to trade that useless blue number in their wallet for something practical like isk.

While I disagree that most players didn't want free AUR, I do think you should be able to convert that AUR to something you can use.
Here's to hoping they allow you to convert AUR back into tokens if you have some you dont hink you will ever spend. |

Well, if nothing else, this should give CCP a clearer idea of what people are willing to spend for items of this type. Revenge should not stop at the ship!

Well, the biggest problem is that you can't transfer Aurum between characters... You could have some 5 chars with 5k aurum on each, which is enough to purchase even 2 monocles - but you won't be able to buy even one of these trinkets! So yes, I'd say it would be great idea to make it possible to convert aurum back into Aurum Tokens. |

If you want to convert your Aurum to ISK; then buy items off NeX for Aurum and sell for ISK. Makes sense I think, and I'm sure a lot of people are doing it. Buy tokens and convert to Aurum, and add it to your current total, then buy something expensive if you really want to and think you can save ISK and money doing it, works too I suppose.
I'm wondering if there will be a point at which NeX items actually trade close to value on player market. Could be, but then maybe not. As long as CCP keeps handing out free Aurum though, I doubt the market will change.
On the other hand, I payed 600 million ISK for this Ishukone Limited Edition shirt, which is kind of funny, because I have no idea where it came from or what it's really worth, I just liked it.
*chuckles* This is what happens when you are out of the game due to dead PC, and come back with no real concern about whats in your wallet. I really didn't care, and just thought "..whatever".
Maybe it'll be worth something one day. |
