I have a GeForce 7900 GT and have the same problem after that patch. But not only that , the client have started to crash the system. I have found no solution and i have tried every thing i can think of, reinstalling system and updating drivers.
I have contacted suport and they dosent seem to be aware of the problem and couldnt offer me a solution other then the standard ones witch i tried and non of them worked. I also tried all solutions on forums whit no results.

I had this problem when I played WoW. Its because the memory is corrupt and apparently is quite common with the 7900's. Thats why I upgraded my old one to a GeForce 7950 GT OC 512MB.

The fact your using a drive from 2006 might explain the problem.

Having the same problem, graphics bork up and/pc freezes up and I need to reboot. Impossible to run two clients anymore, guarantee of a freeze up.
Would be nice to hear if anyone at ccp knows anything that might help, other than buy a new card.
p.s. Yes im have the newest drivers installed(2007).

Download ATI Tool and 3DMark06.
Run ATI Tool's scan for artifacts test and 3Dmark's Deep Freeze sequence. If either of those give you rendering errors or artifacts then your card is almost certainly broken.
(The 7900's two most common problems are bad memory and failed vertex units. ATI Tool is very good at showing up memory problems and Deep Freeze is almost 100% reliable at exposing broken vertex units) |

Hello guys I've got an update to this problem. After getting the same problem as the char i posted with in the Op, i found some test software and ran it.
It turns out that the memory is indeed corrupted on my graphics card, aswell as the vertex shader i think it said aswell. Tried contacting Asus as it was under warranty, and they told me they couldnt help as the graphics card came out the factory overclocked and therefore it was voided .
Looks like time to buy a new graphics card as thats the only solution i have Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

If your country has similar customer protection as the Netherlands (most of the EU probably as far as this concerns) does then just goto the retailer that sold the product and stuff it up their arses while demanding a swap.

Just started experiencing problems myself; getting lots of pink squares on screen then machine would grind to a halt and I had to reboot.
Thought it was an overheating problem but the problem persisted after giving the machine a good dusting. Then I turned all gfx enhancements off (AA, AF, etc.) and it seems to have solved the problem (well I managed to stay in game for over 30 minutes with no issues - unlike before). _______________ Fight the Power |

Sounds like it is an overheating problem, or an issue with the architecture on the card (since the 7900 had quite a few changes over the 7800).
Turning off AA and AF, A) doesn't require the card to work anywhere near as hard (AA is the most taxing thing your graphics card can do), and B) doesn't require the card to use as much memory to re-sample textures.
If it's an issue with either overheating or the cards memory, turning of those two would help. I'd try turning off one at a time, to try and source where the problem is coming from. ---
