I am soon going to be producing enough isk in game as to finance my playing time through Game Time Cards and was just wondering when CCP was planning on taking control of selling these and what the prices would be roughly. I know it's roughly 150-170 for a 30-day and 350ish for a 90-day, but wanted to know if anyone on the inside knew anything. If there's something that I don't know please tell me as well (as long as it is in connection with game time cards).

I imagine the price will remain the same or rise, certainly not get lower as CCP doesn't want you to be paying through isk indefinitely, else they won't be able to pay their employees.

Uhm... you don't really understand the mechanics behind the gtc-for-isk-sales now, do you? It doesn't matter for CCP if a customer pays with isk or reallife money since someone else has to buy the gtc with money first. So, in the end, it pays back for ccp to allow this since i bet there are players out there who wouldn't play anymore if they had to pay with money instead of isk.
Hope you learned something. If that wasn't new information for you, perhaps you should think before you post. If it was, then i'm glad to enlighten you. :-)

Ahhh, it's always amusing when someone who doesn't know what is going on posts about other players, accusing them of not knowing what is going on.
Lisa, I think what Kramer is referring to (and the OP for that matter) is the vague reference by CCP to the effect that they will be taking over the GTC for ISK trade completely... the implication being that players will no longer be able to use real world $ to buy ISK. The question this has everyone wondering (besides how much will it cost) is how will CCP profit from this at all?

What they meant was that instead of going to shattered crystal to buy your GTC, you'd use the "My Account" interface on the left to both buy your code and transfer it. They wouldn't even have to ever have a long "code" to give you - all they'd have to have is so many days of time credit, and this could be transfered to other players. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Edited by: Anaalys Fluuterby on 27/05/2007 04:10:24 Under the new system you can still buy GTCs from places like Shattered Crystal, but you CANNOT re-sell them for ISK in game.
Basically you can exchange ISK for game time with CCP only, but you can buy your GTCs from other places if you want to. Those caught "selling" those GTCs will probably get a perma-ban, and the official GTC-ISK conversion web pages will be removed and no longer allowed. <-----------> Factional Warfare:

WRONG!
SO WRONG!
If you was any wronger you would be a mishap.
Thisis the rules for selling GTC's Ingame.
It dont matter where the GTC came from as long as its a legit one. IE usable.

If you are all refering to the mumbo-jumbo kieron posted about the upcoming changes in GTC trades, don't mind his english, he had no clue what he was actually saying. As for the "basically, you will buy gametime with ISK from CCP" phrase he used, he should have said instead "basically, it's AS IF you would buy gametime with ISK from CCP".
To restate what a couple of other CCP representatives have said in random threads since then as a response to the mini-scandal caused by kieron's posting: * CCP has no plans to ever sell/buy ISK directly to/from players, in any form whatsoever * all ISK you pay for gametime goes to somebody selling a GTC, who bought it for real money * the only thing "eliminated" in the new system is the RESALE of GTCs for real-world money
That's basically it, kieron was just refering to the fact that ONLY the secure GTC trade method is allowed now, and that they wish to eliminate GTC resellers from the picture completely. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

How does one go about advertising the sell of GTC in-game, or is it out of game advertisement only? I searched the contracts and I didn't see any GTC.

Still unclear how these two parts jibe.
If I buy a GTC I cannot resell it for in-game money...fine.
So, I give ISK to CCP for gametime...fine.
How is the ISK then converted to cash for CCP? No one is reselling it as your last point says that is a no-no (or will be). Shattered Crystal I doubt will take ISK in lieu of cash since they cannot sell ISK.
Maybe I am missing something obvious...

CCP doesn't get money for isk.. CCP gets money for the ORIGINAL GTC sold..
here's the procedure
Quote: Q) WTF? What do I do? A) If you are selling a GTC for isk, you open your account management page; https://secure.eve-online.com/login.aspx
My account >> Account services >> Securely sell GTCs
Select the character selling the code (receiving the isk)
Enter the name of the character you are selling to.
Enter the code.
Enter the ammount of isk you want to sell the code for.
Confirm the selection
The seller will see an open sell order in the account management page as well as finished orders. The buyer should receive an EVE mail detailing the offer. (Could be bugged at the moment) In any case, all the buyer needs to do is log into the account management page and accept the trade. It should be listed under, "Common Tasks." The offer is valid for 48 hours.

That looks like the current procedure. Not the hinted at change where players cannot resell GTC. If there is no reselling I do not see where CCP can get its money.

Quote from jita local after asking Oveur about the GTC changes; the question was if CCP will sell GTC's for ISK or will act as a reseller of the GTC - which won't even be a code anymore : [ 2007.05.13 21:54:03 ] CCP Oveur > Setano: No, we're only facilitating the secure trade of it, the abuse and scamming was affecting a lot of our customers --------------------------------------------------

To add to that I think it will also prevent players reselling gtcs for more isk (buy 5gtcs at lower prive, and then selling them for a X% markup) which is a source of inflation. (Inflation is bad)
