Ok... I know I could sift through the absolution setups, but what I'm looking for is not there.
I run level 4's with a friend. He runs a Nighthawk as tank + damage and what I am looking for is a pure damage setup for my absolution.
Any takers?

If your taking no damage whatsoever, and would risk your ship on that...then I suggest the following. Should you get attacked, you would have a rather limited time to warp out.
6x Heavy Pulse Laser II Medium Diminishing Nos
10mn MWD II Medium Injector II Web II
Medium Armor Rep. II DCU II 2x Capacitor Power Relay II 3x Heatsink II
For survivability you will want 2 Energized Adaptive Nano II's instead of the CPR's, but because the MWD sucks a nice bit of your cap plus guns, I suggest CPR's. Its more of a personal opinion.
Side note: If you were in a situation where your buddy wasn't there and you wanted to solo a level 4, you would have to at least run dual reps and a DCU with some rat specific hardeners. ----------- Amarr- If you like to handicap yourself before the fight begins, then we may accomodate your needs surprisingly well. |

If he's running missions with it than MWD is usually out of the question...

You OBVIOUSLY have no experience with missions.
MWD is not an option.
mate fit the following.
6x Heavy Pulse Laser II Medium Diminishing Nos
AB10 II Web II Cap Recharger. ( cap boosters may not be always around. )
Heat Sink II x3 Tracking comp II x3 MAR II
2x CCC I rigs for extra cap
Thats "if" your mate has full agro. -

Don't forget rigs. Could add a cap rig if needed.
I agree with the use of Beams for missions. SO much more useful to have that range.
Personally I think you can maintain a very good tank on an Abso and still have good damage. Losing out on its tank seems wrong somehow. With mine I sport a solid omni tank and still have gank.
On mine:
6006 armor, E/T/K/Ex=88/91/86/91 415.7 DPS

Why is everybody so married to Pulse in the Abso?
I used to be a Pulse only guy and one day as a lark setup a Beam ship. My time to complete missions dropped dramatically. That extra range really helped, especially against Gurista who love to stay far away and make me chase them all over.
I did Pulse with Scorch ammo but the stuff is too expensive for missioning (84,000 ISK/minute for me to shoot). That and its EM heavy damage rather sucks versus Guristas.
Also curious how you folks manage without an AB. I have had ships that lurked out of range and were faster than me. With no AB I'd never get them. Others I'd have to chase down with my short range pulse would take forever without an AB even when I am faster (Command Ships are not exactly speedy).

If you do missions you want to loot. If you want to loot..you dont want a cargobay full of cap boosers. So a capbooster sux for pve imo.

Make a loot monkey (destroyers work well) and loot that way. Much more efficient.

Agreed.
You don't loot in your command ships, you run back in your destroyers with bookmarks to each gate (if mission has multiple jumps) after you turn in your mission, then you can come back with MWD's and loot fast.
Thanks a ton for all of the suggestions folks!
I looked around on the Absolution thread and there doesn't seem to be "a lot" in the way of good level 4 setups... perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough, or perhaps I'm using the wrong ship ;) Lovin' it so far though.

Tbh if you want to get anywhere in lvl4s, you need beams. You spend way too much time traveling into med pulse range otherwise, time lost that is never made up by the small dps advantage of pulses.
Thank you SkyFlyer!

Edited by: korrey on 30/05/2007 13:27:54 I fail to see where the setup has gone wrong. It runs missions just like the next guys setup. If he's not tanking, obviously he doesn't need dual reps, all he needs is damage and cap. The DCU is in case things don't go his way, he has time to warp.
If you have good reasons why you don't like my setup, feel free to share them. Otherwise your comments are rather Ill-placed. MWD will only not work in deadspaces, meaning it will work on about half of the missions he will be running. If he's competent, Im sure he will know when to fit an AB instead. ----------- Amarr- If you like to handicap yourself before the fight begins, then we may accomodate your needs surprisingly well. |

I'm not too concerned about things not going my way. I fitted a pure damage setup tonite and went and did some level 4's... it was workin' well. Sometimes I'd kill something that triggered a spawn and I'd end up getting aggro on 2 BS and 2 HAC's, but instead of warping out, i'd just take it - turn on my medium rep and tear 'em down.
