Edited by: BMWM6 on 31/05/2007 11:40:10 Don't see how this can be acceptable to any mission runner or how CCP can allow things like this to happen. Now don't get me wrong, Highsec should have some risk to it, but not in this kinda way. And I'm starting to see it alot.
What Am I talking about ? Well imagine your a mission runner worked hard to buy nice faction fittings for your ship, worked hard to buy them etc.. You undock from your station only to see in front of you 30-50 SWA Caracals right outside the station. All of a sudden someone targets you, locks, now some people might not think anything of it, but what there actually doing is Scanning your fittings and cargo bay.
Once they see you have nice fittings that can be sold for a few hundred million+ each, all these throw away Caracals decide to lock on you and fire, these ships and people only have one thing in mind is to catch you off guard and try blowing up your ship hoping that your expensive fittings make it in the wreck.
Now 30-50 ships locking on you is bad enough, but b/c of the amount of missiles and explosion's going off you FPS goes from a nice Smooth 60FPS to 1FPS and then on top of that you have another 50+ ships from Concord warping on firing on the ships that are firing on you.
That's what happened last night 1hr before DT, mission runner decides to leave the station with his nice fittings to do a mission, only to get ganked by about 50 Cara's and by the looks from what I saw not able to do anything about it.
The pictures speak for themself but all I can say is, IMO I don't think this form of warfare is acceptable, especially since its in highsec and the person can't even defend himself. Like I said for about 30secs the lag was so bad, now I can understand what it must be like for you people who fight in fleet battles. You can't do anything but wait it out.
Like I said, I'm not saying Highsec should be risk free, but someone should not lose there ship in this way.. And I bet if they petition it, it would only get turned down.
Pictures....

Pic 2, you can't see all the ships but there is another 20+ ships from the same group of the screen.
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/984/eve2nq5.jpg
Picture 3, Concord shows up , picture does not do any justice to show now many concord ships showed up 60+ if not more and then they spread out all over and around the station, adding to a system that is known for lag within the system.

I do not see any problem with that tactic, unless they are all using trial accounts. In that case, it should be considered exploiting. If they want to mass-suicide attack they should have to stop training their mains for a while.

I was coming back from doing a mission myself when I saw local go from 80 to 110+ in less then 2mins, I warped to the station and they locked and scanned me, as I said because I have seen these kinda tactics before, I took at cheap ship outside so I could get a few pictures, hoping CCP would understand where I'm coming from.
From what I saw looking at some of the chars most where trial accounts ...

Apart from the lag (which sucks) there is nothing wrong with this.. if some1, or some group really want you dead then they should be able to do it.
The only problem is if they are recycling alts, which is not allowed.

Okay I'll bite.
Please explain in what ways you would like highsec to have risk?
You don't want hauler ganking. You don't want freighter ganking. You don't want mission runner ganking. You don't want can stealing. You don't want wreck stealing.
There is a real disconnect between how regular players see the game and how carebears see it.
Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Eve is a PVP game.
If you can't accept that you can get ganked anywhere at any time in any situation then get thee lost to any of the plenthora of PVE games out there where nobody loses anything.

Funny how everyone on that overview got a very farmerish name, including the Raven victim. Maybe a turf war between two farmer gangs, saw it happen in Jovainnon too where 3 Mega were station hugging and popping their competitors courrier mission Bestowers.
It seems like the ISK for real money market is not doing well and maybe one actor is trying to raise the operating cost of his competitors.
Or is the victim is a genuine player with a crappy name? Some old kills, I stopped providing free intel |

The only thing wrong with this is insurance paying out when you die to Concord. Insurance contracts should be voided when performing criminal acts in high-sec space.

Not to sound rude, but looking at those attatched pics is kinda funny. Funny seeing that many concord in one spot, lol. Probably would have laughed my butt off if I was there.
One way to combat this is not to fly a faction fitted ship. Tech 2 stuff works just as well for missions in my opinion. It is all I ever use, and have never had any trouble running the missions.
My advice is to actually take the time to train for tech 2 modules. It is well worth it. That way you won't have to be worried about being ganked 24/7 and losing hundreds of millions of ISK. --------------------

The fact they're in a noob corp suggests these characters might have been specifically created as suicide alts. This could be considered an exploit. If (and I personally don't believe this) a bunch of SWA members with legitimate characters jsimply decided to pull this mass sucide off, then it might be a legitimate tactic. Then again, all this is just my opinion .

i suppose it depends if the ship could have been saved had lag not been an issue. If you died because of the lag then thats harsh. if you would have died after being ganked by that many ships anyway then there is nothing that should be done.
i do however feel that the risks of ganking should be higher.

I gotta say, those guys who ganked you are a weird looking lot. They're all between six and seven months old, and judging by their standings, they're hardcore, and I mean really hardcore, mission runners. It's certainly an interesting situation!

Your right, but I'm sure these ships where not insured, all they had was Missile Launchers fitted nothing else in Med or Low slots.

Carebears are regular players, and you ought not talk down to them. It's their money, and they play how they see fit. There are more of them than there are of us, and without them, we'd be paying double for all our ships and mods, or building our own. _________________________________________________________

Edited by: OneSock on 31/05/2007 12:13:01 What's a bit nuts IMO is that insurance is paid out for the suicide ships. It's a bit like setting my house on fire so I can claim the insurance money to buy a new PC and expecting my insurer to cough up.
Other than that I see nothing wrong with suicide ganking.

If faction ship mission runner will be gank alot mybe it will give faction ship pilots a good reason to try moving to low sec/0.0 It will balance the RvR of low sec vs high sec by changing the high sec risk.
If i post something smart it represent my corp and alliance all other posts are my feeling/ideas only and do not represnt the rest |

Holy dog****!
That is way too cool for CCP to allow it. [SWA] are already running mass piracy ops, and now [SWA] Rice Farmers have gone on the rampage! I see a Privateers Style nerf if turf wars for isk sellers kick off.
But how are they going to nerf an NPC corp?! This could be the most fun since the last thing that was fun!

Yep, I don't really understand why you didn't dock. If I saw 50+ Caracals outside a station, I'd kind of suspect something was up, and the moment one targeted you. I'd have docked.
As for nerfing, how? suiciding is allowed, so long as you lose your ship. Personally I'm wondering if you've done something to upset them?
Finally, look at what kill rights you have, and go blow them up, it's what I would do

The simple solution would be to just redock if you undock into so many ships.
But really, this DOES look like a farmer war, especially if those caracals have high standings with NPC corps... For the regular suicide ganker, the profit of 1/30th of roughly half a faction mission fitting is not worth the bother, there are better targets on the trade routes... Not to mention the high risk that it will all be for nought if the victim did activate his hardeners and maybe even the SB...
Thank you SkyFlyer!
