What race can start with the best stats in mining.
Any other pointers to having a decent moning character are greatly appreciated :)

While I think the minnitar get a bonus to refining overall its equal.

Gallente is best as you will need a hauler and Iteron V is a good one for moving your ore.
Gallente is a drone race also and they do get some bonus on damage/yield.
So train for a Vexor and mine in that one...
Then go for a Retriever.
IMO you dont need to train BS/BC and sit and mine in them... better to spend your time training for a Covetor and in the end the Hulk.
But ofc it depends on what you want to do as a miner..
Mining in Low sec is dangures and you would probably be best of mining in a BC/BS then as they can take a few punch befor you warp out. But you wont be as effectiv as you can be in a Covetor.
IMO dont bother buying a Procurer, save your isk and go direct Retriever -> Covetor -> Hulk :)

Ya, although I am a miner and I personally use a Caldari Achura, I would say Gallente are the best for mining because 1) they have drone skills, and those are helpful against rats, and 2) they have five Iterons for hauling, so you just add another level to your Industrial skill and get the best hauler you can get. On the other hand, I still think the Caldari Bantam is the best mining frigate. :P

Also Caldari and minmatar have mining cruisers and gallente do not.

Imho the mining cruiser argument is better suited for part time miners. A real miner will skip them or switch to a retriever.

The Exequqor is an excellent mining cruiser. While it doesn't have mining bonuses, it's significant cargo hold 600m3 + 10% per Gallente Cruiser level, means you don't have to spend nearly the time shuttle mining. A big benefit for people just starting out and are lacking the support necessary to jetcan mine.
The Vexor, OTOH, is a mining cruiser, just different than the Caldari and Minmater ships because it focuses in drone mining, not laser mining:

As long as you have the skills all you have to do is fly the ship and use the moduels that will allow you the maximum for what you are trying to do.

Just train up to where you are comfteble. I use a Hyperion like othes use an apoc to mine with and with mining 5 and mining upgrades 5 and the nessacary skils i get over 100m3 with 8 mining lasers and miningupgrades. I am very comfterble with that.
I am a fighter pilot. So obviousley you dont see me talking about being a 100 % miner. I just mine for profit, or i used too mine for profit now i rat 100% of the time.

Wrong, it's Amarr because asteroids is the only thing that can't tank their lasers.
