Originally by: Hardin The Minmatars and allies have had two/three weeks in which to launch their own 'counter-offensive' and knock down CVA POSes errected in their home system. Indeed, that is one of the reasons why for a long period we maintained only a small number of POSes in the system. However, apart from sporadic attacks early on they chose not to.
Those "sporadic attacks" were pretty consistent until the first "POS spam" about a week ago; there wasn't a single CVA POS before then that hadn't been in reinforced mode at least once, and we had destroyed two (if I recall correctly).
(I use "POS spam" here to refer to the act of erecting more than five towers in a very short period of time, and do not intend anything pejorative by the phrase.)

I personally blame CCP. I mean, think about it. Did they really think no one was going to abuse the hell out of the way things work?

Good fight CVA.
POS spaming madness it is, but you pulled it off. I make no excuse, you beat us this time.

Out of interest - has there been another OP war thats required nearly 50 large POS in one system to determine the outcome? -----------------------------------------

As a U'K sympathiser and admirer of both sides in this war I can only hope the U'K members who have flicked the bitter switch will turn it back off. Your war and your relationship with CVA is more important than any pos spam. To turn this into a bitter slug feast because you are ****ed would be sad. Don't complain - make them pay!
U'K are you going to make pos spamming more important than your whole ethos of how to play? Are you going to turn your relationship with CVA into crap because they pos spammed? I hope not. If you truly believe in showing respect then a percieved misdemenour should not change your behaviour. You are the holders of your own honor no-one else so don't throw it away because of someone elses actions.
CVA smacking U'K because U'K has accepted help is sad, U'K smacking CVA over pos spam is sad. Get back to fighting.

Fighting to win should have been expected to be perfectly honest.
I am up there along with any of the CVA enemies with kicking them in the junk and all, and I also think pos spamming is lame, but it is a tactic that should have been foreseen. Even if the CVA decided to be 'too nice' to use it, it's surprising nobody else yet has.
Anyhow, good luck in the coming weeks fighting to hold sovereignty. _____________________________ Fear is the mind-killer.

Edited by: Rikelov on 03/06/2007 00:49:04 I wonder if there has been a more contested outpost in the game? People are focusing too much on the here and now....acting like losing the station is inevitable. We have fought and held this outpost in a way that few alliances our size can pretend to be capable of.
If the time has come for us to return to our 'roots' then so be it, but only a fool would count us out.
- and what is up with the posts from BoS?

Maybe I'm the only one enjoying this but bring it on CVA.
I'm loving the fights, some are unbalanced but what is this a tea-party I got a handful of BS kills yesterday and managed to stay in character in local.

It could have something to do with you guys bringing pirates into providence and us watching our "allies" stand by while the same pirates announce in "UNITE NOW" that BoS is being removed from prov. Then kicking us from the channel. We took that a bit personally.

Yes, because running 20+ large towers is _such_ a lot of fun. And a good use of isks too. Pfft. losing the station to having towers put up an hour before downtime is irritating, but I've no doubt it'll be back in U'K hands very soon after. This fight's far from over.

And I also took it personally when I was hauling things to Unity a month ago or two ago before any of this happened and got killed by pirates as I came into Providence from Kari while a bunch of BoS members watched and did absolutely nothing. A group of pirates, might I add, I later found out were blue to BoS. 'Allies' who just talk and sit by and do nothing aren't very good allies. As for the 'pirates' you mention, they at least know how to fight.
And for reference, we didn't really invite them into providence. They were always there. You just didn't do much of anything about them before. Remember that pirate arbitrator, celestis and blackbird that went through your space? No one in BOS could stop such small little group and you were running scared until I went after them and a bunch of UK followed behind me to trap them as I pushed them towards them while they ran from me. It's called guts. Some of your members showed that when they helped me take out Rawthorn's Chimera all those months ago but I think those members have long since left and I can't say I'd blame them.

We gladly fought with UK many a time. But we got tired of lack of leadership on your part. You make it seem like we didn't care, that was so far from the truth. We had great respect for UK,and even when it looked grim we intended to go down fighting with you. Notice I said "fighting". What we saw at the QR battle made us think we were wasting our time in a RP war that neither side cared for us. We refused to play in your war, and you pushed us aside....and let our foes base out of Unity.
Even then, we did not set you to red. Unlike Sylph, UCE, and many others we stayed your friends....
I learned today we are now RED to U'K for no reason.....While some are rejoicing at today's events, I am sadden at how a once honorable ally has fallen to become a pirate force itself.

The term doesn't bother me, but don't fall into cva's justification of 'UK are Pirates!!!'.
We are in 0.0 where you have to look out for yourself to survive. I have never once seen a U'K member ransom anyone, camp non-sov systems to gank neutrals for loot, etc.
This war has boild over and both sides are fully committed/extended...it is easy for a small force to get caught up, pushed aside, run over, etc. in all of that.
Label them however you please, I have been very impressed with those who fight alongside us against the slavers. It is far more likely that one of these salty pvp'ers will lay it on the line to pull me out of a fire than many of our enemies can count on their own alliance-mates to. That is not an idle boast, but a valid observation.

No reason? BOS ships tried to help repair a Slammers' POS that was put up without permission in H6. We were pretty sad about setting you red as well, but as I understand it, your pilots refused repeated attempts at convos.

Are you purposefully avoiding how BoS stood by while a bunch of pirates shot me down? A hostile group that BoS also had in positive standing. I'm not saying I dislike BoS or even hate them but don't pretend your hands aren't just a little dirty too. But I can barely count on one hand the number of times BoS has fought with UK in any dedicated effort since 9UY was first invaded.
When it comes down to it, the way I myself see it, UK were in need of people who could and would actually fight on their own on our side or with us in a group (and also do it effectively), and BoS just didn't cut it. Why you got set to red, that happened from a POS repping when Alois placed a tower in one of our systems without permission and we threw it into reinforced and BoS pilots would not stop or accept conversations to stop. Personally, I think it is a small incident but I didn't go out of my way to engage any of you, Slammers or NOS. I don't like bullying but I don't have much use for those who won't stand up for themselves either. I'd make an exception for Alois Hammer though. That guy just annoys the freaking hell out of me.
And I have yet to know of one UK that has shot down or ransomed or in any way pirated a non-hostile without offering compensation in return for the incident. So throwing the pirate term around us is laughable at best.

Less angst and bitterness people. If this degenerates into just 'another' 0.0 war it will not be because of the tactics, it will be because some players are being to bitter. Remember the difference between IC and OOC. I have ooc chats with a few UK. I would like to think we do not hate my guts, I do not hate theirs.
There is quite a bit of talk about everything being broken now. That is only true if we make it that way. Look beyond it, see that we are the same people who have been fighting each other for many many years.
Battlefields HAVE to change. I would like to think through all the nonsense and window dressing we can recognize our contributions to the community. We do not engage in questionable tactics on each other. Yes, we may call you out IC for bringing in your ringers and pirates and mercs, but why should that make us as players angry? Same people, we can still talk and have a pint right?
I doubt very much there are people in the CVA who can come here and say they hate UK folks. For my own part, all the anger makes me sad.

with respect to verone and others criticising the placement here:
My personal feelings are that a POS spam and a game mechanics utilisation as has happened to capture such an important system in an RP conflict that is possibly the most epic in Eve history is really a poor showing. I think that this thread reflects that quite significantly. I've tried to keep as constructive as possible but as i've stated, I am biased and i really do think this particular offensive by CVA was utterly poor taste.
As anyone that follows this conflict knows, maggot makes official statements for U'K not myself (hell who would trust me to given how bluntly I've dealt with people in the past). It also explains why the post is here instead of on the Gal Summit. I'm not the best at writing posts to go up there and i'm sure as hell not in the mood after watching what little was left of an RP conflict go up in smoke. I'd like to believe that my post here was a fair bit more informative than the average post that goes up on here regarding conflicts and despite being reported from being on one side of the conflict was at least attempting to be unbiased in the majority.
Thank you to the few that have commented impartially or otherwise without lobbing wide reaching criticism into this thread. Hell that thanks even goes out to those guys congratulating CVA on their victory. I'm irritated by this victory as I see it as phyrric almost but i'm not going to grumble about people congratulating the other side :) Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

You can count the number of times we helped you easily? Perhaps because although we made repeated attempts to get involved with your fights, we didn't feel welcome. I was at the assault against CVA in QR, yet I was never ganged after asking for an invite for 90 minutes. Yet still I fought beside you. Even after our former FC, Pouncer, made you aware of our capabilities and willingness to help, we never received invites for major ops. Then you go over the top and invite pirates into Providence in a meager attempt to help save yourselves after CVA whooped you in QR.
I echo the previous statements: This thread is a disgrace to a once agreat alliance. You haven't been the same since after QR and now that you've lost your last vestige of power in Providence, you make a thread and can't stop smacking CVA, BOS, SYLPH or other former allies, and you'll go to no end to defend your treaties with pirate corps, as those are the only pilots that will associate with you now.

Sapphrine > we're drawn thin at the minute but the last thing we need is for another ally to go and get whacked and have to withdraw from our space
CVA feel free to correct me on any of the following points.
We never gave CVA any intel or support. (IAC did find cover at BOS pos when ENH was chasing them once...)
The "BOS members" you say were helping a Hammer POS....that was actually 1(one) pilot in a osprey. (same member that helped when hammer was attacked by IAC..even though we were blue to both sides at the time)
I don't know what your referring to when you say "BOS stood by and watched".....I'd like to hear an alliance/corp named.

Yes, POS spamming might not be the most honorable way to take a system, but its not very honorable to bring everyone you know and their brother to defend it either. Aside from CVA's usual allies, which are more on the scale of a few corps who are involved in the RP side of the conflict, we did not roll into 9uy with 3-4 alliances behind our backs. All these events have lead up to one another, neither side has ANY room to point fingers and accuse. Maybe stricter guidlines could have been agreed upon before all the action started to help keep it smaller and still true to the RP conflict. However that time has passed, and im tired of hearing all these accusations. They make people look stupid and ignorant. Nobody is 100% right or wrong in this conflict, shades of gray blend into every aspect of the fight. I hope that the hate filled words can be left behind and that RP can resume.
UK has my best wishes in the coming days.

Before when ENH were still hostile I approached you and said that you should let us know when they were killing you because... well... gosh, we might have been able to help you getting killed if you did. Does the phrase "people in glass houses should not throw stones" mean anything to you?
I'd be more concerned with your total inability to deal with one hostile POS in your home system, than UK's ability to deal with 20 in theirs.
My good sir, the ability is not a problem :) Its 1 large tower, hardly a threat, and your just putting more and more fuel into it... Like I said, it was probably a wiser idea to put it elsewhere
There seems to be no shortage of towers in 9UY, so I don't see your point.
If you cannot see why a large hostile POS in your home system is a 'bad thing', which you should at least attempt to remove, then I recommend you watch what is happening in 9UY at the moment very closely and imagine the shoe on the other foot.
Not a single attempt to remove the large POS in your home system has been made by Sylph, despite UK being seriously distracted in 9UY. And this isnt a lack of desire, its a lack of ability. Our spies confirm your true capital strength. We all know the real reason why you havent assualted the tower. You can't.
Coming on here making snide comments in the direction of UK hardly seems appropriate, given that you've played zero part in this war (apart from being the local cannon fodder). So run along and get back to what your alliance excels at - siding with whoever you think is winning, and power NPCing in cloaking ravens.

I read a CVA member on another forum saying he was happy U'K have decided to get a bit more radical and accept the help of pirates. I thought that showed great spirit plus seemed rather apt - sometimes you have to get radical to survive. I guess you would have been happier if U'K had said "nah we don't want help lets just let CVA take unity." U'K would have looked pretty silly. You are asking them to do something stupid and using them not being idiots as an excuse for pos spamming.
Another thing you miss in this rather odd accusation is that some people in other alliances don't want U'K to lose because they sympathise with their cause. Why shouldn't people be able to help the side they want?
Just fight guys - that is what we admire about you both.

1) Please show me where we publically announced that 9UY would be ours in a weekend. I think you will find that we didn't. Certainly our internal planning timescales were significantly longer than that...
2) With regard the 'everyone and their brother' arguement CVA has only worked with organisations it has worked with previously for the betterment of Amarr.
Most of these were RP organisations (PIE/VV etc.) - with the main exception being s3verance who had a mutual shared interest in combating piracy in Amarrian low-sec and who we have worked with before, as Davlin Lotze would testify.
That said I, and in fact the majority of the CVA have no issues whatsoever with the fact that UK brought in Outbreak, EVOKE etc. In pure RP terms they are 'outnumbered'
To some extent this is because the Minmatar cause is fractured between NMTZ/UK/EM which reflects their 'tribal' RP nature - but you can't blame us for presenting a 'united Amarrian front' while the Minnies squabbled about Karishal Muritor etc.
In fact terrorists UK cooperating with lawless pirates is a fairly 'natural' thing (as they were outnumbered and desperate and so made RP sense. However, by doing so they have turned all the non-aligned neutrals in Providence (aka Sylph, UCE, BOS) against them and that should also have been expected.
3) Yes we hack people off because we are Amarrian and therefore 'evil slavers' with an authoritarian and hence arrogant appearing attitude.
I think this image sums us up: http://i2.tinypic.com/11i3l8n.jpg
Those who live lawfully in our space have nothing to worry about. They can thrive and prosper under the benevolent care of Amarr.
It seems that the formerly 'neutral' residents have made up their minds on who they prefer as neighbours.

Yes, the XZH-4X system was taken by YouWhat from RISE last year with a POS spamming score of 42:39 or so (+- a few), nearly all of them were large.

CVA still has 150 friends. They have proven themselves to be honorable and a defencable ally. UK has proven themselves to throw long time allies(BoS) to the wolves. We have learned quickly who has honor in this fight
On an aside ENJ are honorable pilots. They caused us no end of HELL to exist in Providence, but they let us know their standings and talked to us daily. I would consider them to be more of an ally in the final days than UK anyday.
These words do not reflect the words of my corp or my alliance. These are my thoughts alone.

It's a sad state of affairs to see such bitter words between U'K and CVA after they've played together so long as enemies with mutual respect for eachother.
Agreed, although I'm sure that once this is finished (however it finishes), things will be firendly again.
I would say that is a very very optimistic view. Mutual respect evaporated in the QR siege as we had non-mutual expectations of how this RP war was to be conducted.
Mags.
Speaking for PIE, I know that most of us still respect most of you. I'm sure that the CVA still feel the same as well.
We should all get together for a private OOC chat sometime.

I'm just a neutral trader, but go whatever side will actually fight the pirates in Providence and not ally with them and let them NBSI along the pipes! There have always been pirates in Providence and UK used to be fighting them. Now that they decided to ally with these guys last few attempts I made to get goods to Unity have ended with my scout being killed in gate camps by UK allies. It became harder and more wasteful of my time. So purely out of my skin interest, go CVA! Bring order to Providence and expel the NBSIing pirate scum!
