Check this out and come to your own conclusions. Since January of this year I have had a Bee under my bonet about Macro miners and Isk sellers which I believe are two peas in a pod. I have been harvesting loaded macro jet cans since January and I am now at the point where my Toon and my three buddies with Iteron 5's just can't keep up with the volume of ore the Macro's pop out so now I just blow up full cans of ore. Every time I blow a can full off Plaq I wonder why CCP has done nothing about all the Macro Miners I have reported and why they do nothing to prevent the use of Macro Miners. Today when I logged on, I found that I was the only real player in the system, the other 12 where Macro Miners. I went out to the belts, book marked the cans, warped back to the first bookmark, looted the jet can and blew it up and repeated the process until all the cans where gone, then I went back and Grabbed my Nerfed BumperPhoon and spent the next 40 minutes bumping all the Macro Miners 50 or 60 km off there belt, then I went to the coffee shop and grabbed 2 coffee's and sat down to peg this out. I was thinking about yesterday and the 4 days before that when my buddies and I went out and looted enough ore that when we reprocessed it we had to call for a frieghter to carry it all back to our home station. Yesterday was especially bad though. In Gallareue the Macro Miners had cleared out the belts within 5 hours of start up, Nausschie is right next door and it was also cleared out at about the same time as was Trosquesere and Erme and Botane. It was sad to see that in these systems that about 40% of the population where Macro Miners, and very well organized ones at that. About 6 of us have filed petitions reguarding this matter and the best reply that we have seen is "Thank You for bringing this to our attention, the matter will be reviewed. This petition is now closed" Gee, cool, why are they still Macro Mining? My answer to this is very simple and seems to be accepted by those in my alliance. CCP must not care about Macro Miners as long as CCP is collecting the monthy account fee from the owner of the account that is Macro Mining. Gee, thats great, but why do I feel like I will get my account banned for writing this post? I guess that little blurb we see when the client starts about buying and selling ISK is just a bit of text to fill a box. There is no punishment, thats why we see 4 week old toons sitting out front of newb stations in Rohk's fitted with Basic Miners and Civilian Expanded Cargo mods. As for the ISK sellers, we know who they are because they send us EVE mail to tell us that 1 billion isk is now down to 55 bucks. How times change, just 6 months ago they where selling a billion for 180 bucks, I guess all those new computers are paid for now, I mean think about it, running 3 Macro accounts per comp, 10 comps per room, you get the idea, even 60 minutes knows about it and actually did an interview with some guy in Romania who had something stupid like 50 computers all running 3 macro's and laughing all the way to the Bank of Romania. That might not be 100% accurate but it is very close. So what can we as players do to take back this game and encourage CCP to enforce some of the rules that they have made? This will be a tough fight, I estimate that about 20% of all active Eve accounts are Macro Miners and are allowed to continue so that CCP can collect the money and boast that they have over 30,000 people logged on at the same time. WOW. Just think about this the next time you have to go out and mine and there is no ore left in your system or the one next door, or the one after that and now you have to go to a .4 system to mine Veldspar. Cool.
I will be posting the names of all know macro miners into the bio of Agro'ing Problem. Let's loot macro jet cans together.

no no no YOU have it ALL wrong.
the REAL question is WHY doesn't ccp ban people for posting the same topic over and over and over and over and over and over AGAIN ------ they removed the link to my sig, because it was to big in byte size. like only 50 to 100 bytes to much :( |

when we asked this question in regards to both ore+ice macroers, we were informed that CCP built up a list of macro accounts, the transfer accounts, the wallet accounts etc, and then uprooted the whole network in one fel swoop. to be fair, ive seen this happen at least once, and (possibly) a second time. but those were both within a few months of each other, early last year =(

I bet at least half the time what people think are "macro miners" aren't macro miners at all.

Banning ALL ice macro miners = collapsed 0.0 alliances and collapsed T2 market Banning ALL low end ore macros = T1 stuff prices going mad.
Yes, normal players would fill the void sooner or later but there would be market chaos for quite a few months.
So, this whole deal is not really in the interest of anyone in the game unless he is the type of person who thinks sitting in a covetor for hours moving ore/ice 2 cm every 3-6 minutes is fun.

You say that like its a bad thing. I've lived in 0.0 for ages now, and I think the POS and T2 markets could do with shaking up. So what if suddenly spamming 40 POS towers is more expensive? Maybe it should be?
The market would normalise eventually, and I'd be all for seeing just how shook up it gets. --------

geee makes ME think.... (macroer lol)
Anyways When I played WoW an the gold sellers there are so thick you cant log on for 5 minutes without getting 8 mass tells offering you to buy gold.
A guy came up with a addon that blocks them, BUT Blizzard responded with a patch that made it so that the spam guarding program either had to be shut off or it blocked ALL tells. This tells me an my friends that they dont WANT the problem fixed.... we actually think Blizz is getting kickbacks from the goldsellers and the ones they catch are the ones that arent kicking them money....

I personally like my T2 ships and mods cheap. Moon miners will translate rising ice costs to T2 component costs which in turn will make T2 stuff more expensive, regardless of invention.
So yes, in my narrow world it would be a bad thing.

Macros work by moving the mouse to a set location on the screen and activating the left or right mouse button to follow a set procedure.
If ccp really wanted to stop macro miners there is a really easy fix and that would be to randomize where on the screen the ore recived andgive you a choice to move it to the cargo hold or a can, IE make the lasers have a cargo space that pops up in random locations on the screen preventing the macros form locating the move command.
basically x and y pos on the screen set the pointer to move the mouse to.
an alternative to stopping macromners woulod be to make mining more active where you need to operate the laser by hand, or just anything to removethe sameprocess over and over.
take for example the isk farmersthat sitin 0.0 farming rats until somone enters the system they warp to a safe spot and cloak, now these are just as much a problembut to one difference, there at the screen using the game, theres a chance you will get them, theres sombody making iskandwe could all do it and there not using 3rd party programs to beat the game. in some respects i hold respect for these players that sit there day after day ratting over and over.
on the other hand bear this thought in mind, If nobody bought the ISK off the open ebay etc market then there would be no profit from gathering ISK to sell so in some respects everyone that bought ISK is to blame for the macro miners prsence. remove the market for the isk farmers and macrominers and they will go away!!.
Yours

Hmm. Have to send an alt up that way with an Indy and a smartbomber disposo-ship. Milk them for all the ore they can mine and then blow them up once they reach the end of the roids in the system. Can just imagine some guy on the other end of the macro farm setup swearing at me in chinese as I wipe out his profits for the morning. I do too. But I'd also really like it if my enemies couldn't afford T2 items (and nor could I), meaning more T1 rumbles. T1 ships below battlecruisers are sadly neglected a lot of the time these days, which is a shame. More T1 cruiser fights ftw! \o/
If the T2 market was raised back out of reach for day to day use again, I wouldn't shed a tear. --------

Don't use the word macro.
The Eve Fanboi ISK buying types, come out of the woodwork and start shooting down the anti-farmer brigade. The last thing they want is to actually have to mine there own stuff.
The word macro is like a magnet to them. Use "Farmer" or "Sweatshop", it confuses the fanboiz as they are simple creatures. It's essentially the same thing. Whether you have a paid employee, or an automated macro program is basically irrelevant. One is EULA breach under account sharing, since not even farmers can work 23/7, and one is EULA breach under non-macroing.
And in answer to your question, CCP don't do anything because they don't have to, and they make more money if they don't.
The rules of Eve are demonstrably applied on an ad hoc basis, and that's not going to change. The whole reason for non-transparent systems is so the host can do what he likes, and nobody can do a thing about it, because they can't get decent information to do anything with. Those who do... well... they are disappeared.
The best thing you can do to combat farmers and isk buys is to wait until a decent game comes out and move to it. And pray that one day somebody will take every corrupt games supplier, and regulate them.

Dear CCP,
I'm tired of having ISK to burn, ships to loss and T2 items coming out of my ears, please, PLEASE make things more expensive for me. EVE is not just fun without having endless ISK-sinks and mindless resource collection. Make EVE fun again, ban the macro miners!
Thank you,

From Besmin, Thanks for all the replies, sorry about the wall of text, but I was on 2 double americano's with the extra shot. Please check Agro'ing Problems bio for the names and locations of the Belt Munching Mac's and feel free to loot as much as you can carry. My personal fave is to wait right beside the full can until the hauler shows up, then I transfer the ore to my can and have a corp mate hit it with a cruise missile. After we made the first of many billions looting the cans we kinda needed something new,
Cheers,

They aren't, and I get griefed constantly because I ice mine in empire space. All the see is someone warping from station to a bookmark in the field, mine, dump the ore and repeat. That dim little bulb that keeps them from playing EVE like everyone else (for FUN) suddenly shines and they decide you're a macrominer. So, they flip your can. Or, they bump you out of harvester range. Or, they keep you from aligning, so you need to double click at some weird angle to fly away from them, and try it again.
Drives me freaking batty; maybe they are getting the hint, no one's bugged me in a while.

op its because they are not macro miners, but gold farmers. As long as sombody replies to the GM PM request, there is nothing CCP can do.

So let me get this right, you waited for the macro-er to fill up his can, then took it. If he was a macro-er then aren't YOU benefitting from his exploits?
He uses bots, which are against the terms, which unlawfully give him ore. You take this ore. You are benefitting from and participating in un-lawful activites.
You can give the arguement that you are ruining his money making, but you're still benefitting from his exploits. Therefore, you're commiting "illegal" activites.
