I was doing some rat hunting down in low sec last night and found 3 Sansha Bucklers (~18k bounty). Had a good fight with the three of em in my Tristan but the loot was amazing....a 2 MILLION unit drop of Tritanium (worth over 5mil on the market in the region...quicksell was 15% higher than average) and a 200k unit drop of Mexallon (about 2.5 million worth). I was shocked. After all the ratting I've done, I've never really encounter rats dropping HUGE amounts of ore like this. Is this a rare event? Just wondering cause for about the 10 minutes it took to kill the rats and the 10 million + profit, I'd love to encounter more of these!

Hauler spawns. Sometimes in 0.0 they are considered a piece of bad luck because it means you have to stop your nice little NPCing session and haul trit for the rest of the day.
I bet more then a few pilots have quietly popped the cans and carried on looking for commander spawns :)

Met a few types of rat who drop ore, harvesters spring to mind, though buggers tend to warp away (despawn) soon as you kill there guards :(

There are rats that drop ore, I know in HiSec space there are serpentis harvesters that drop quite a bit of ore, but they spawn far less often than your other rat flavors.
They are also the only rats I have run into that will actually warp away if you don't kill them fast enough.

Very handy in 0.0, most corps i've been in everyone dumps hauler spawns into the corp hanger and the corp creates free ships with them. -----

Interesting...didn't even think there'd be hauler spawns :) Fortunately I just quick bought a hauler that was available 1 jump away and was able to haul all of it in a few warps back to station. Not a bad little profit IMO ----------------------------------------- Don't submit to stupid rules Be yourself and not a fool Don't accept average habits Open your heart and push the limits |

Soo totally true

I never have because our corp has always needed the ore badly, but i have been tempted to. ____________

Hauler rats
One time I found a 4.7 mil rat spawn (the rat bounty was 4.7 mil) and some of the other ships were haulers, found like 4 hauler loads worth of Pyerite and there was an Arbalest launcher in there worth like 15 mil.
I was like "holy smokes, I just won lotto"

So do most faction spawns and officers.
Kill the main target first, then the escorts :D
