I don't see hardwiring or faction/officer mods for this... what gives? How else to make big torps hit the tiny ones?

Edited by: PartyVaN on 11/06/2007 01:51:34 huggin/rapier... Though I agree they could use some non-racial help, faction mods seem like the way to go.
But then again it might just turn into 1 mod every torp spamming mission raven pilot uses. I think painters would need to be more useful overall for them to become widespread enough to require faction versions and HWs. Or not.

Remove the stacking penalty...it already takes a devoted ship to even bother fitting TP's,So it won't make that big a difference.

Its not just the lack of faction mods, its also that it only does one thing and that one thing aint anywhere near as good as the other ewar modules. Then theres the stacking penalty and that it doesn't work on MWD active ships. So its meh.
Perhaps what it needs is a couple of other boonuses, Maybe a minor sensor strength boost, targeting range boost and a scan resolution boost.
E.g. T2 gets +2 Sensor strength, +5% targeting range, +10% scan resolution. Plus its normal target painter bonuses.
Then it would be a worth while module to fit.

I took the trouble to train up to fit the tech II painter but as almost always, the best named 1 is easier on the fit and has equally good stats I hardly ever use TP's anymore though cuz i find using a tracking comp in the mids a more valuable tool to let my guns hit much better.
Tech II blasters with Null L (sometimes Void L) 4tw -- Thats a Templar, the Amarr fighter. Its a combat drone used by carriers. |

No, Target Painters need to be removed from the game because they are mf'ing ********. Now a mod that would slow down the speed and range of enemy missiles, now that's interesting.

The strength boost skill has same requirements as for T2.

Unlike tracking comps target painters help your drones and gang members hit better as well.
I wouldn't mind seeing the bonus boosted on the minmatar ewar ships though, 25% from a vigil on a mod that's not that usefull to start with ain't exactly much, same for the 37.5% from bellicose/huginn etc. Bump that up to 10%, CCP, kthxbai Crystal-Slave, that way?

Edited by: Max Hardcase on 11/06/2007 10:13:09 Play around with the tracking formula and you will see it does have its uses when you use guns. The results you get are too "hidden" for the avg player to contemplate however. There are however some problems with it.
con: - Below 10km webs are much more effective at allowing you ( and others) to hit fast moving targets. - Targetting computers provide a nearly identical performance boost for gun tracking AND they increase optimal range.(but only for you ofcourse) - Only specialised TP platforms provide similar tracking benefits for guns as T2 tracking computers
pro: - Everyone shooting the TP'd target will benefit from it ( from a specialised TP platform this is roughly equal to a bit better than a T2 tracking computer )
