Edited by: Horb on 11/06/2007 02:34:53 So the last episode of Sopranos was tonight. Anyone else ticked off because you dedicated almost a decade to watching that show and for them to end it like that?
Come on.

They took the cowards way out. Any ending they did would of ****ed people off, so they went with a non-ending instead. A kinda, "choose your own" type of bull crap.

A theory I read in another forums is that Tony died, but never saw it coming. In the first episode of the season Tony told Bobby you never see the one that gets you.

Dissapointing ending indeed. Chase sold out so he can have his big screen movie if he chooses to. What ticked me off the most was that the Russians never came back to sort out the mess Paulie and Chris did. And the whole NY vs NJ thing, Tony never had a chance against NY if they would have kept it real. Come on! New York has the Five Points!!! These families support each other! Where were they? I expected some kind of closure :(.

This is unreal. So many golics it isnt even funny
With as much speculation that the finale got in the week up to it DID YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THIS WOULDNT HAPPEN?
This is nuts you idiots wouldnt of been happy unless you had the ending Mike Golic wanted BODIES EVERYWHERE BRAIN MATTER EVERYWHERE EVERYONE ON THE ENTIRE BLEEPIN PLANET DEAD!
So you didnt get the ending you wanted BOOOO HOOOOOO go cry in your beer away from here. If you dont have the imagination or the gumption to actually speculate as to what the heck happens next you shouldnt of even watched the show in the first place. This show took things to an entirely new level. Today we see how many were FAKING actually being on that level of intelligence. The sheer amount of complaining across TV and various boards makes it clear just how STUPID the majority of the viewing audience actually is!

I've been satisfied with Sopranos ever since they killed Andriana; I hated that chick, she looked like a burn victim after the first skin graft.

I thought that it was brilliant.
The only real sympathetic characters throughout the series were Tony's immediate family (Although I did think that A.J. desperately needed the crap kicked out of him a few times), and my hopes were that no harm would come to them.
At the end of the day Family, blood, is really those other three that are across the table munching onion rings with you, that you trust implicitly, and love unconditionally, in spite of all of the treachery and bad behaviour that the rest of the world might assign to them, and what treachery the rest of the outer world might wish to exact for those deeds.
I will miss Paulie Walnuts.

The NYC families have long been targeted and whittled down by the FBI and Police. The NJ families are currently more powerful so they did keep it real.
I think some of the elitist people here calling people naive is uncalled for. I was not expecting some bloodbath, but was rather expecting some change, perhaps an epiphany. True Phil Reatardo's hit was nice and satsified some people's bloodlust, but the show did not show any advancement of the main characters:
1. Carmela is still that person who wants to keep her family together at any cost. She is still insecure about her self and family image (was very cold to Hunter when she said she was in Med school).
2. Tony did not learn any lessons and made no changes. Same immoral man with no ability to reflect on the past. He cannot even admit to himself or his own wife that it was Melfi who discontinued the sessions and instead claims he quit. When they met AJ's shrink, he had to turn the discussion around so that it was about him.
3. AJ started the Soprano's not believing in anything and he ended it not believing in anything.
4. Meadow: Ok she did change, became a lot more hawt in the later seasons. She started out as the conscience of the family, and in the end she just sold out when it became convenient.
Even some of the lesser characters did not change. Janice is still trying to shamelessly squeeze cash out of everyone and has no real interest in investing in Bobby's kids. Patsy is still, well a bit of a Patsy. Paulie is still as superstitious as ever, and Silvio never had much to say (so getting shot was not a big deal).
So yeah, there was no bloodbath, but after all the soul searching the Soprano's took us through, we landed right back where we started. And that is where Chase went wrong. ------------------- 09:F9:11:02:9D:74:E3:5B:D8:41:56:C5:63:56:88:C0 |

Wow, very nice analysis. I agree with you. And it wasn't that I wanted to see blood or whatever it was the cranky poster some posts above said. It's what you point out. Basically, there was nothing to be learned here, not the audience nor the characters. It was more of a "Hi, meet the Sopranos. Ok, now let's let them be" all wrapped in 7 years .

No. I am sick and friggin tired of hearing it EVERYWHERE I TURN. Its on friggin ESPN for the love of mike! Its absurd the press this is getting and the amount of complaints on how it ended is making my head explode. I am glad i keep duct tape near by to wrap my head with otherwise i would NEVER find all the pieces. Worse is how people are smashing the show's writers and producers for how this ended when its one of the finest pieces of TV left out there. A lot of the big time shows of the late 90's beginning of the millenium are long gone. This was one of the last real thought provoking shows out there. This show should be known for the debates it sparked not the bloodlust of its fans ranging from Michael Wilbon of PTI to several people on these forums.

The more I think about it, the more I like the ending. I was kinda ambivalent at first. My first post in this thread was made right after the show aired was intended to be somewhat neutral and not angry.
When I saw the episode my first reaction was "WTF...did my cable go out?" then I saw the credits and started laughing because I knew so many people would hate it.
