I have read the following link but half of it is full of slang terms for stuff and things that I really don't understand:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=319645
I have a Badger MK2 and am looking to do cargo running avoiding combat wherever possible (some missions still take me into losec though).
Question 1: What is an insta? why is it good to have in an indy ship for losec?
Question 2: What is a stabber or stab?
Question 3:What is a Nano? (appears to be mentioned a lot).
This following quote is what I would like to go for in my build:
"I would suggest you stop screwing around with ECM and the like in your mids; that sets off the aggro timer and prevents you from jumping through gates.
Instead, invest in as many shield extenders and/or invuln fields as you can fit. Your objective is to simply survive until you can align and warp out (this is, of course, assuming that you've jammed your lows full of stabs, which is simply common sense); the lock times on industrial ships coupled with the aggro timer for gate-jumping makes the entire ewar approach a rather flawed concept".
Final question: what should I put in my low and mid slots to survive for as long as possible and avoid getting splatted?
I realise these questions may be nooby but I am trying to learn more and some of the terminology and abbreviations are difficult to fathom.
Many thanks in advance!

Edited by: PartyVaN on 15/06/2007 20:28:51 Well I bet that thread is a bit old, as you don't even need half of those things
Instas were bookmarks that would drop you right at 0m from gate to gate (before warp to zero, the closest you could warp was 15km). Now with warp to zero, they are obsolete.
Nanos are nanofiber internal structure. Lowering your mass in exchange for loss of hull hitpoints. These are less effective now, what you what to fit is called an inertia stabilizer.
Stabber is a minmatar ship, but they/you are probably referring to a warp core stabilizer. Nerfs your locking range and scan resolution in exchange for adding +1 to your warp core strength. Basically counters warp disruptors (add -1) and/or warp scramblers (-2). You need a warp core strength of zero or more to warp.
With 3 Lowslots on a Badger Mk2, I would use 2 warp core stabs and 1 inertial stab for lowsec hauling, or 3 istabs for highsec hauling (assuming you're not at war or aren't hauling a bunch of really valuable gear). And if you're running out of room in the badger, then you need to use Cargo Expanders (expanded cargoholds). These will really slow you down and I would only suggest using them if you are hauling ore from belts or are doing basic empire operations requiring over 6km3 or whatever you have after skills.

Yea the optimal setup for just hauling in lowsec or anywhere dangerous would probably be:
-High- 1x Prototype Cloaking Device (probably not for you yet) 1x Tractor Beam
-Mids- *Really up to you, i would say either passive shield resistance hardeners, an afterburner or maybe a shield extender. You can also fill it with fun stuff like ship scanners/cargo scanners if you have nothing else to fit.
-Lows- 2x Inertial Stabilizers (go for some named ones) 1x Warp Core Stabilizer
