you cant judge it in a few hours, no, but never the less the judgment was pretty sound.
In game or on the forums, Eve generally is pretty harsh to the new player. But I dont really know what you can do about it.

Before even replying to your post, Im going to mention something. Going on whorums with attitude: "omfg pplz are rude, im cancelling u all teh suck11!!eleven" Is not going to get you far.
The correct way would of been to say, that you had bad expirience with minority of community in the rookie help channel and would like to find corp/player/whatever to be able to ask them about game mechanics and help out at the begining. Now, this would of given different response to you and your problem. Oh and another thing, no you simply cannot expirience eve by playing it 2 hours, sorry, but no way in hell. It all only just starts when you find good corp and prepare to moove into 0.0.

I've played for about 2 months now and have yet to be harrassed or bullied by any player here. Sure, a couple of pirates have tried to blow me up at gates but thats part of the game.
If your having trouble with large groups of people then its something your doing wrong. Ask in the right places and people are happy to help. Or did you just take the n00b stance of "I aint no rookie" and shut down that channel?

This just sums up what is happaning to the game.
i created an alt last month to "start again" ie be a noob and have some fun. all was going well till a noob pirate corp wardecked use :( and we had a frigate battle LOL greate fun anyways. I pretended to the rest of the corp that i was a noob and just starting :) anyways i was shocked at the level of some players behaver, i would get told "NO YOU F***ing NOOB DOnt DO THAT" and "You know S***" where common on TS and Chat. the thing is that i was right and i knew it, 3 yearse of experance and all but there are alot of noobs out there who if thay are a week older than youre character will treat you like dirt and if the OP met up with some of the same peeps i did on my misadventure then i can understand him for leaving.
anyways i never asked for help and knew everything everyone in corp was asking showed um good setups and got the corp organised for small fleet and minning ops so they eventully worked out i wasnt a noob:( "My BS shadowing my alt might have been the givaway LOL" i gave um loads of stuff and all that but they still kicked me from there cut little corp cuz my main was a pirate and they where worreyed i would kill em all LOL.
No hard feelings. it was fun
this is an alt my main is a carebear and i havent logged him in for so long i forgot the password :D http://www.badongo.com/pic.php?file=new+banner__2005-12-31_Unfortunate+Banner.jpg |

Agreed, theres a bunch of kids out there who can only pride themselves with so called knowledge of a video game since they probably have nothing else in life.
Let them rot. Try asking your RL friends playing Eve. If you dont have any, you'd be surprised about how many people are ready to help you out.
I once expressed my despair upon my inability to have fun with Amarrian ships, as a solo new player i really had a hard time achieving anything.
A few hours later, a 2003 player contacted me and offered his help. I still owe him, and will never be able to thank him enough.
Its real hard to find nice ppl and even harder to find a decent corp. But its worth it, because once you're settled and more experienced, a whole new game becomes possible.
Your first few months in eve can be pretty hellish since its so vast and theres so much to learn, its hard to get money, you buy fittings you cant use, the training patterns are unknown to you etc...
Personally, I recommand in no particular order, the help channel, Eve university, and Agony Unleashed university for having your first pvp experience.
Also, try checking out those threads :
Starting guides
Skills training
Ship fittings
Keep training and try asking around. Im sure you'll find someone of good will to help you.

Originally by: Cristalline After spending 2 hours learning to play EVE Online, i was harrassed, insulted and generally annoyed by no less that 10-15 players with no recourse available to new players other than the ignore function. After requesting help on a number of things from lag issues, bugs and other game mechanics from the general community, i was met with open hostility from the 'you should know' crowd.
I liken this to the 'Life begins at level 70' crowd from World of Warcraft. At least this is tolerable as you rarely ever see or hear them unless you visit a major city.
Of course, this game has a lot of promise, but far too complicated for the casual gamer. I have nothing but respect for the game and its designers. Rather, i have little to no respect for the community with which resides on the servers day and night.
From this reaction after only 2 hours spent, i have therefore cancelled my subscription.
If something had been done to quell the player harrassment issues before getting out of hand, i would undoubtedly have had a much better experience. So to sum up, the community ruined any possiblity of enjoyment from this game.
Sad that you cancelled. But this shows probably that EVE is not your type of game. The EVE concept +separates the boys from the men½ if I am allowed to desribe it like that. It's deep, complex, addictive, brutal and needs attention and loads of patience.
You must accept that you start mainly with carebearing [missions and not care about PvP]. Depending on your communication to find new freinds and time you can spend in EVE it will take a few months till you are ready for bigger steps. The skill system in EVE is awesome but it takes time. You have to understand that 1v1 PvP against a 2 year player with loads of experience is mission impossible for a newbee. But it's fun to talk all the time about a plan to get revenge and laugh about that 1 year later.
For me it's the most exciting and challanging game experience since my first Arcade Cabinet game. And I played a lot since today. EVE beats them all. Even my pen and paper RPG I had been playing for over 15 years. Well ... it's different.

ive been playing for a weeknow and i the tutorial took me nearly 4 hours and till i finished that (well till the server kicked me out :D) i didn't even other with the chat screen. and after i got back into the game i tried doing things myself bofore asking myslef. when i did ask i usually got decent replies no one bad mouthed me ..well maybe they did but ive been in chat rooms enough to ignore them. most of the question i asked must have sounded pretty stupid to en experienced player, which i realised once i had them answered but then when u r a noob its a bit overhelming in EVE. theres so much to tink about and remember.

Originally by: CCP Wrangler I'm sorry to hear you had this experience, but a lot of EVE players are very friendly to newcomers. I can also recommend EVE University, which is a player run corporation that helps out new players during their first time in EVE.
Darn that's an old link, where did that come from? Anyway, just join the EVE University chat channel if you have any questions about the game, or us.

they dont realy want new players, and the game is built unlike most others... here grieving killi9ng taking and insulting are a daily grind and is setup like that..
there are several dev blogs that in the future ,they want eve to be basically, a private club of old gamers .and noobs are just cattle till they learn to be otherwise
within 2 years subscriptions will most probably be closed and eve will be its own private universe,

Thanks for that bit of information. I know when I am not wanted, that really helped me decide about not wasting my time in this game.
I'll be sure to spread it to all other new players I meet...
EDIT: A daily grind of insults and killing...how can I resist.
