I've been thinking, ever since I've started playing EVE, I've had a calender-planner thing on the side of my table. To keep track of skill completion times and whatever Ops or events might come up. It's been handy, and it's makes for a good reminder for whenever I forget something.
So I was thinking, why not implement one in Eve? And not just as a simple calender, I was thinking about several features which might come in handy.
First off, it'd definitely help if we could link notes onto the calender. That way, anything which might need a lengthy explanation or description could be inserted without filling up the calender. (You'd be linked to the note in the Notes tab, I mean.) I don't know if this would affect another idea I have, but just a thought.
Secondly, an optional alarm system for any events on your calender. It might be a beeping noise, but I think the blinking tab already implemented in the game's good enough. (Better, in fact)
And third, and also my favourite, I hope we'd be able to share our calenders. So any events pinned on our own gets copied onto the reciever's own calender, and we'd be able to share whatever things like a carrier run or a mining op at a few clicks of a button. This might come with a system where you could share an entire month of events, weekly, daily or just single events. That'd be cool. Our bios and profile have brought us one level of interactivity between players, so I thought why not have another.

as for the signal of the calendar item alarm... why not use our wonderfull "warp drive active" and "skill training compleated" lady announcing something like "there is something in your calendar that requires your attention" or similar Max Kolonko |

@Max: Oh yeah, I've never thought about that xD It'd be cool if Aurora (was that her name?) could voice it all out. Thanks!
@Wacoede: It'd definitely be cool if there were a alliance/corp option with the calender. Thanks again! --- Support cloning! Get pod-killed today! |

There should be at least two types of calender: a corporation and a alliance one. Maybe a personal calender would be also useful.

Um, question, is there a certain email address which CCP uses so people could send their ideas to, or are all ideas just left here? Because I played another game which had their own suggestion box thing...just wondering --- Support cloning! Get pod-killed today! |

Signed. Several programmed alarms would help to keep track of your compromises. Excellent idea. Dogfighter, UCE Diplomat. |

Good idea. The only problem I could see with it is that the implementation is likely to be quite difficult. This sounds a lot like google calendars, and it took them about a year to fully implement it as a stand alone product.

Google calendars had to work on different operating systems, different browsers and under much more massive workloads.
From the calendars point of view, Eve is the OS so that simplifies a lot of things.

Edited by: Vricrolatious on 04/07/2007 23:37:37 A calendar in game would be great. As stated above, something for personal, corp and alliance would be good. Maybe add the calendar info into the XML that you can access on site. Export the XML or find a way to link to something like google calendar or another calendar application, such as ical or the planner feature in a cell phone.

/signed, also mabey change the mail tab to comm center or something along that line and then have tabs for eve-mail, personal calendar, corp calendar, and alliance calendar, that way instead of adding another tab to the UI it keeps it all in one spot???

I was thinking about this recently.
I don't know if I would make separate calendars for corp and alliance, but I would definitely make it so that alliance and corp leaders could set events that would then appear on all of their players personal calendars. -----------------------------------------------
