Edited by: Jimer Lins on 18/06/2007 19:16:12 So I was talking with some friends recently about my helios setup, and as a joke I threatened to set it up with reinforced bulkheads, hull reppers, miner 1s and cap recharges and use it to structure tank belt rats while mining veldspar.
Because I found this amusing, (and yes, maybe I'm the only one) I thought it would be fun to get people to invent the weirdest, silliest, or most gimped setups you can come up with.
Use your imagination, make a shp into something it was never in a mililon years meant to be. Bonus points for uber-freak setups that require tons of skill training to fit. Forget about the ebay/noob/gtc seller setups we've all heard about, as this isn't about the worst setup but about the weirdest setup. In other words, it should actually have some utility, however stupid.
So here's my entry, which I haven't tried out for real, but shouldn't be a problem to fit, although I have no idea how well it would work in practice.
Structure-tanked Helios miner!
2x Miner 1 2xHull Repairer 1, 1xCap battery, 2xCap Rechargers 2xReinforced bulkheads,1xDCU
Yeah, it's silly. :P Share some mondo bizarro setups and give us all a chuckle.

Hah- the Hulk of Doom might be viable as a bait ship for ore thieves. Swap one of the mids for a passive targeter and carry a little bit of ore to jet, and when thief snags ore... well. :D

Moros.
Reinforced bulkheads x6, Dcu systematic damage control (for cpu savings), 1mn ab II for speed in siege mode, and a cap recharger (industrial strength), small armour repper for cap savings.
Civilian blasters x 2. cloak and a t2 miner.
Drones would be 5 t1 mining drones and an armour repper drone to help your friends out with, also a webber drone to keep the rats still while you use the civ blaster on them.
Thats mine and the rats will run when they see your structure tank...
P.s. This setup is not the one I use so don't try to think you are somehow better than me or such, noobs.

What's so silly about that? Seems like a good bait ship to me (at least with current Hulk prices).

When I was in Privateers I caught a Megathron on a gate with 8 x Heavy Nos and 5 x Ogre II. My passive Drake was just about tanking him while my alt's Brutix kept him busy, but it took me a long time to figure out that he wasn't shooting from the ship. When I did figure that out his drones popped in a matter of seconds, and my reinforcements arrived, but he deagressed and tanked us all long enough to jump and escape through the gate while we all waited on our timers.

Yes it should work as a baitship, but that's pretty far from it's intended purpose. It would definitely be fun to try out.

Being a noob, I have no idea whether this is standard or strange. I'm flying a Catalyst as a miner. It's fitted with 4 XeCLs, 2 75m gatling railguns (low on CPU usage, just enough to handle pirates in high security space), survey scanner, 2 expanded cargo holds and a coprocessor. (I'm trying to figure out whether it's possible to boost CPU enough for 5 XeCLs for a really crazy-efficient noob miner.) It's sweet for jet-canning, now that I have an Iteron. I carry a hobgoblin for defense but should probably use a mining drone instead, to fit the theme.

Man, I have the most wacky setup!!
Ok, take a Caracal, 4 Heavy missiles in the highs and 1 light missile. Shield tank in the mids with a 20km warp scram. In the lows put some PDU's
Man, I'd love to see someone go out and solo PvP in that it would be hillarious.
oh wait.....

Edited by: John Grimm on 19/06/2007 07:18:42 I remember a long time ago, when i was n00b, i tried to go through the N-RAEL chock point with a Arbi fitted with 1x Shield Booster, 1x Hull Rep. and 1x Armour Rep. I had no hardeners or plates or extenders. I had mix of lasers and missiles in highs. Mining drones in the drone bay.
Lets just say that the Russians had me in a new clone, before i knew what hit me.

Speaking of the prowler... I'd run around on sisi for the heck of it at times in one.
Standard launcher in the high named mwd, 2 x cap recharger 2s(or swap one out for a scram 2 overdrive 2s
It was pretty fun to zip around in at around 3kms, maybe faster... forget.
But nonethe less if you have the dual recharger 2s you can run the mwd indefinately and annoy things.
I found it really fun to take it and engage some frigates.
and if you're going 1vs1 it can warp out due to built in wcs. That's all I have to contribute to this thread atm...
Other than mentioning some thread around here once, with a pheonix setup that included a rail in the fourth high, tackling and speed gear in the mids and a poor armor tank.

Back when I was a one month old nublet in EVE, I finally had enough ISK to buy my first Raven. Being excited about training for it, and not bothering to train the right missile skills, I ended up running level 1 missions in a Raven fitted with standard missile launchers, and a small shield booster.
Yeah, I was a nub back then...

Passive shield tanked Mega with smartbombs as a mission ship PDS in lows max row, extenders, 1 invul field and microwarp or AB. Used named smartbombs for extra range and damage then full speed towards the rats.
Did some missions in less then 5 seconds back in the day. DonĘt remember the name itĘs the one where you warped into a bunch of rats pointblank with buildings no extra gate/areas.
