Ah that's stunning. I call dev hax on the camerawork (flying through a raven's wing struts? no fair! )
I really liked the distant shot of the explosions starting up... understated violence, mmmm.

I have mixed feelings about the new trailer.
Its well done and all, but its about what "EVE could be", not what EVE is, both in terms of game mechanics and in terms of server performance.
If the devs have this vision about the game its beyond me why they implement tools that negate this kind of gameplay (DDs, a truckload of drones from MS/Carriers, now bombs, remote ecm for MoMs....)
It would have been so great to slug it out in the old fashioned way: with guns, big guns (megalasers on titans anyone?).

Brilliant cinematic video but I have to say I agree with other comments.. If only Eve played like that video looks...
I know that's the aim, and I'll still be here when CCP finally achieves it

Yeah I wish you could undock in a camera drone just so you can take some nice fraps. But I guess you could do other stuff like scout with it, so no way it will be released. ---

A battle recorder similar to the record demo feature in half life would be great. It would not take up much space (just records position of events), and would allow for great camera work whilst not affecting scouting as you say :)

The vid is made of pure win! In feel, quality and message its 100%, that last scene...OMG!!!
However, I agree with Bratwurst, to much CGI and programed movement. Why do that? Its only making us drool!

Edited by: Khorian on 20/06/2007 07:21:31 The last scene is absolutely fantastic. The two fleets facing each other, then small explosions starting to show up in all parts of the fleets. It's like that scene in Star Wars EP VI, the battle is raging in the far distance, people are dieing, but Luke is standing in the throne room and looking out the window. It all seems to be so far away. We know if we were in one of those fleets it would be hectic, chaos and carnage, but from this perspective it just feels aesthetic and beautiful.
It also really gives you a feel for the size of the ships in EvE, something thats kind of lacking in every-day-flight. --------------------- This is the signature

I think for the same reason you would (if it ever might happen) not show ingame fighting in an EvE Cinematic movie, but orchestrated/ choreographed fights. It simply looks better and the Watcher that maybe doesn't have a clue about EvEs inner workings still udnerstands whats going on. Ships are shooting at each other and blowing each other up is what it's about. Not the technique behind it. --------------------- This is the signature

didn't like it. It was good and all, but its so fake, and very EvE distant. I didn't see anything that looked like EvE in that video, it was all eye candy, and none of it really showed what EvE is all about. :/
"Eve Never Fades" stays as the best CCP made video still.

As some of the others I have mixed feelings about the video. Definately a good job is the begin of the battle at the end :) Though, all the way to get to this scene has a straight scheme, Titan/Mothership, few smaller cap ships around, and a fleet of support in formation. Each fleet is race-specific and similar. What I DO like about that is the fact that you get a good feeling of the size of ships and fleets, though if you'd "fly" through the fleets similar to an "in-cockpit" view of an interceptor rather than all those boring (sorry to say so) fleet scenes, maybe fly through one faction fleet and head towards the other, then, see first gun-shots triggered on the hostile fleet, zoom out to the position of the last part (or cross-fade). Use the rest of the video to show some other stuff from revelations ii (logistics since they had improved, stealth-bombers with bombs, maybe exploration, lvl 5 mission shots - after all the empires are not only competing against each other, but against pirate factions too ;) ) AND maybe some video content that goes along with the background history (some history that leads to the battle/conflict in the end) like one of the factions attacking an outpost or station or whatsoever :)
anyhow.. the video-quality is good, camera is very nice, and the rest is personal preverences :)
to those who wonder how they made that video content.. play around with camera-options ingame (left-right-click combinations and mouse movements, that's all i say) you get pretty much all of those scenes recorded with that camera (even the flight through the raven wing :) )

Kinda Starwarsy as mentioned. Big fleets face each others and engage.
Still, Eve never fades is the best offcial trailer. ___

Heh, sorry I really don't buy that. About 80% of stuff I've recorded has been pure luck to turn out as a half-decent shot, the choreography of the CCP vids screams pre-programmed movement to me. Of course, I'm just jealous and could be utterly wrong.

I'm fairly sure there's an app that Zond uses to get all the ships to go where he wants them. Also - why wouldn't CCP give him a different client or something in order to get the stuff he wants? Anything is possible.
Also - there is an official thread about this - check in the 'General Discussions' forum, it's stickied. I think ... yes, just checked. It is. _____________________________ Eldo spanked my sig but I can't be bothered changing it just now. |

Yup. There was an interview with ZOND3 which played on one of the tourneys for EVE-TV. On there he said he used some 'backslash commands' to make ships fly in synch etc.

True, if my memory dont fail me he told me about it in person at FF last year. In my defence (in case I'm wrong) we were both quite drunk.

synch'd, they are using macros? /files petition HAHA
Is this really an EVE video? The fleets shown there are a mixed bag of ship classes, not uber capital blobs. And they were at a planet -willingly engaging -without bubbles! Perhaps CCP will make actual fleets with fixed ratios and numbers instead of "Hey, everyone grab the capitals, time to crash a node."
Looked groovy, but just seemed like I was waiting for the climax that never happened. /back to Pleasure Hub.
