I never set ISK goals. It's to easy to get and even easier to spend. My goals are skill based, item based or corp goal based.
I'm not much for a player killer as I get no gain from it. I'm not in the ship race and I feel you should never fly a ship unless you can fit it out appropriately. Currently my goals are get standing and avoid Gallente space (They want me dead).
That's all my goals

I don't think that is such a bad first goal for the game. You might want to add a goal of only PvPing in Frigs and Cruisers as first or you can use that up quickly. But I had a similar ISK goal a few times and after I hit it I used some of the ISK and set another ISK goal.
After I achieved a few of my ISK goals and felt comfortable with my ability to make ISK if needed I set my goal to move into a 0.0 corp to experience that. I figured I would loose more ships than before hence the ability to make ISK if needed.
To further support that move I set a goal to get corp standing up through missions and get jump clones so that no matter where I moved, I could use jump clones to get back to the place I could do the level 3 and 4 missions to get ISK if I need some.

Having goals in EVE I think is important. A few times I have found myself logged in and wondering why I was even there and getting bored.
Goals are of course personal and whatever works for you as well as short and long term goals. You can have goals for yourself and share some with your corp.
Reaching 95 mil ISK is fine as a goal but I think only if that then leads to the next goal (e.g. buy a Raven). Of course you need to fit that Raven and need to be prepared to lose that Raven so 95 mil ISK is only part of it I'd think. Once you have the Raven then waht? Own L4 missions? Protect your corp's space? Whatever...just keep the goals rolling in all.

My current goal:
Finish training the appropriate skills to fly my shiny new Curse into combat(not just fly, I can do this already ;P), and to not lose it in the first encounter!
After that, we will see what happens . I have a list of skills that I need to get to V that I have been putting off forever, I may start with those to get that out of the way.
Long term goal? To be able to fly minmatar and gallente recon ships in addition to the amarr that I am finishing up now. -=^=-

1.) Train learning skills as often as I can stand to without shooting myself.
2.) Get enough isk in my wallet and skills on my character to be able to fly a Wolf decently

I wanted to make a bar. I guess I could sort of make one, a personal operated starbase or POS or whatever they call it. Heck if I know how all to do that, just learned to salvage. Fill the bar with pills and Quafe and other consumer goods. Seemed like a good plan when I first started and knew utterly nothing. Now, knowing extremely little, not so sure.
--- eh, why the heck not, it's a plan at least ---

Well, being a new player I have thought about this quite a bit. Having the day off work while the server is down helps too. :P For short term goals I want to be the best miner I can. I want to join a friendly mining Corp. that treats its miners with the dignity and respect they deserve. While in the Corp. I want to learn all I can about my chosen profession, so I can excel at it and be proud of the ISKs that I make for my Corp. and myself. Long term goals are just an expansion of the short term ones. Maybe someday being an officer in the Corp. and sharing my knowledge to our new players.

How? I've looked in the recruitment channel, looked on websites etc, they all seem to be in 0.0 and consist of one man and his shadow. I'm not too concerned at the moment as I am building up my skills, but I am told that you have not really plaved Eve until you join a corp.
If you find this corp, will you please let me know. Thanks

The main thing here is to make a post yourself, advertising that you are available for hire, and what you want. Once you have done that you wait for replies, and don't be scared to decline an offer for a corp, or even not take any offers at all. I honestly don't know much about how to get into a big mining and production corp, as I have never done it. However, this method always worked for me in the past when looking for a corp. (Even if in the end I didn't always make the right choices).

Just with a quick scan of the recruitment threads...
Paxton Industries
They do high and low sec mining. They do 0.0 mining, which is something you could aim towards as a longer term goal. They do PvP'ing to, and i'm sure the lure of the dark side will bite eventually ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This post was brought to you in association with Amateur Dramatics Forum Whoring, and Quafe Ultra: in the heat of the moment. |

Current goal is to join a 0.0 corp of mature people who have a clearly defined set of goals and a plan to achive them. Unfortunately, the corp I picked is not accepting applications, so in the mean time my goal is to get standings enough to get a lvl4 research agent.

Edited by: DubanFP on 19/06/2007 23:04:06 My current goal is 1.85 Billion isk. Enough to by a Phoenix ^^. Course i'm only halfway there. In 2 days I will "technically" be able to fly it, but i still have a month and a half before i can fit it with siege module, cap shield boost, and citadel torps. Of course even then i'll need a good bit more for insurance and fitting, but i'll work on that when i get there. ____________

My goal is to get to the BC level so I can rat with my corp mates in low sechs. Now I only have my mining/salving dessie and I don't even want to tag along to give them another thing to worry about, me without mwd and all.
Hearing them ratting is fun though and I wanna join asap. About the mining corp thing, I am in one currently. Check out UKCS, nice people :)

Lowsec ratting can mostly be done in a frigate, if you keep traversal up and kill their support frigates first.
My goals? Well, currently I have limited time to play, so within that I want to improve my solo pvp. Although I'm enjoying semi-retirement in Empire at the moment, being casual and nomadic.

But since my computer keeps breaking down every time something explodes I'm not so sure after all wheather or not to keep playing more then the free 14 days...
Problem is, the game's really fun and I already thought about buying a new computer... Addiction is much fun :D

I'm going to finish training for Gallente Interceptors and Covert Ops, then search out a 0.0 corp/alliance. Given my stats, that should be just about 30 days from now. After that, I'll work alot on drone skills.

I eventually want to be a competent carrier pilot taking my ship into PvP combat. But that's a long-term goal. I'm currently trying to specialize myself as a drone-boat pilot, and I'm just a few days away from Ogre II's.
I now have a new short-term goal of training up Thermodynamics to burn out some modules for S&G.

Reading your posts is a bit like reading a broken Haiku :P.
5, 7, 5.
IMO, I would set a goal to learn when to use THEN and when to use THAN.
"I will go to the hockey arena and then I will ride the Zamboni."
"My paddle boat is better than your row boat."
My goal is to get into Low Sec and then to 0.0 asap. It's what drew me to this game and sitting around with my thumb up my butt in Empire is getting real boring.
