Hello, is ship bumping an exploit in the game? I was in a system recently and after I had undocked in a station with my Badger Mark II I tried to warp to a stargate but several players ganged up on me and kept bumping my ship in all directions so I could not warp and demanded an expensive ransom before they would let me on the way. It all lasted for about 15 or 20 minutes.
So is it an exploit? I can not see how two ships could possibly run into each other repeatedly without taking damage of some form. And if it is not an exploit, then any tips on preventing this bumping? Thank you.

This should still work, I don't think they've changed it: Log off, then log back on. Your ship should be warping back to the stargate. Log off again, and log back in. When your ship exits its warp, it should be off the stargate's grid, and you'll be safe from the bumpers.
Though I do believe that bumping of that sort would fall under Harrassment and would therefore be petitionable, the usage of bumping to knock station sitters out of docking range, et cetera, is fair game.

In a high-security system, I assume? Since they weren't shooting?
Wait till they get board, or dock if you can, or try to warp to some other object that you're already aligned to.
If this happens a lot at a particular station, one thing that can help is an escape bookmark. Undock in a small fast ship with MWD. As soon as you hit space, go full-speed and engage the MWD and go straight out 200+km. Make a bookmark there. When you pop out from a station, you're always at the same spot and going fast, so if you warp to that bookmark right way, you're already aligned and going fast enough, and you can usually get out of the initial herd of ships, then take your time aligning for a second warp point. If you've got the patience to go well past 500km, you will be on a different grid from the station and won't even be on their overview after your mini-warp.
Ship bumping is not an exploit. And unfortunately, the game's physics let a tiny little frigate push a big dreadnaught around. Hopefully they'll address the size issue some day.

"Ship bumping" in general is not an exploit. What you've described could possibly be petitionable as harrasment, though if you were in high sec space then you don't really have much to worry about. However, the tactic called POS Bowling IS an exploit (when you use fast frigates to bump carriers and such outside of POS force fields so that they can be attacked), but what you've described is not POS Bowling.

They fixed POS Bowling in the Rev II patch. If you don't have access to the shields, your warp will land 5km outside the shields, not inside then be ejected. At least, that's how it's supposed to work now. I haven't tried it.... (warping into a friendly POS w/o shield access that is, not bowling :) ).

Id say, dont say anything over any of the channels, and let them bump you for 5 minutes....chances are they will get bored with it way before you do.
But then, it hasnt happened to me...so maybe Im just babling...

Staying silent is oftent the best you can do against harassement in Eve. You get bumped? Say nothing, dock again, don't answer to ransoms, as you can always dock fast (beware of the station exiting timer), they can't kill you.
The Waypoint straight out of the station is still the best thing to avoid this. If the buggers come often at your home station, do this, you'll instawarp, and they'll be instabored! -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! The Vexor Navy Issue is much more fun than the Myrmidon !

From what i've heard previously bumping someone repeatedly and on purpose without agressing "opening fire" is pettionable as harassment. Now if they were shooting you it would be a different story entirely. ____________

Could be harrassment, best way is to just wait them out, they usually try to do that to get some kind of isk profit by holding people ransom.
Just go do something else for about 30 minutes if it gets bad try and take a shuttle out of there.
P.S. Why is isk spell-lited :(

Thank you, all. I will not file any petitions this time but I shall remember it in the future. It was quite annoying but I suppose that, in retrospect, it was somewhat amusing. Thanks.
