Can someone explain to me how Electronic Warfare Drones work or point me in the direction of a guide.. ..With the ECM drones for instance if you have a drone bay of 25m3, is it best to have 5 small drones, or 2 mediums and a small, or one heavy? Also how good are they at jamming? Are they worth sacrificing some dps for?

If you have 25m3, then you'll want 5 lights, they're only decent at jamming, but they can and will save your life repeatedly. Say what? |

Thats not quite true, theyre all quite usable, and good in the correct situation. Webbers with a range of 60km, without any modules?
Damp drones can save youre life aswell. Painter drones are even more narrow, but can aid your lil fleet of ravens quite alot.

To date, I find that the Combat Utility drones are superior... but some opt for the EW drones. For instance, I like the idea of fitting a full rack of heavy webifier Berserkers on a sniping BS... being able to web people almost as effectively as an X5 Prototype Webifier from 95km (EW level 3... 101km if at 5, and counting two drone link augmentors) is quite a boost in both DPS (much better hit chance) and greatly nullifies their ability to close the gap... they are easy to shoot, but they are also relatively disposable at a fair price. Because the ships aren't moving near as fast, it frees up a medium slot for a tracking computer on my Geddon if I use it to snipe (which has become a thing of the past for the most part...) or free up some tracking nodes on the lows.
Something to look into...
For guidance sake... these drones require Drone Navigation III and Propulsion Jamming III. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 Small Sensor Dampeners (8%) = 34% sensor dampening
1 Small + 2 Medium Dampeners (12%) = 29%
1 Heavy Dampener = 25%
So same with damage dealing drones, loads of small ones is better than 1 big one.

you must be jokeing... 5 heavy drones will travel 95 km 5 minutes... before that UR target will jump out or die. If U need smth for sniping ship take 5 sentry drones and ad their dmg to yours.

Fixed. All EW drones but ECM drones trigger stacking penalities.

I'm also fairly sure that the webbing effects suffer from stacking penalties just like regular webbers, so using more than 3 is hardly useful, unless you want to counter losing two while they travel all the way out there.

So do skills affect e-war drones..? Or is it just a case of being able to use them or not..?
Thanks for taking the time to help a noob btw

I've found both ECM and vampire drones to be very nice in the right situations.

And due to staacking penalties effectivnes of webifier and similar drones is heavily limited. And mostly you are better with damage ones instead.

Not necessarily. ECM drones are rather nice for a ship without a drone bonus and no EW of it's own.

its best to mix and match EW drones imho, a sensor damp drone or 2,a couple of ecm drones, and a webbing drones.
The ecm drones stop the ship targeting you or the drones, after a BS acctually gets a lock on one it has to retarget again, so he'll just try hit you, your sensor damp will kill his targeting time on your drones and you, and webbing drone speaks for itself. Great for ships without EW capibilities, or even if you can EW, you could use webbing drones while you Sensor damp/ECM from 90km

Check out the MWD speed on heavy webifier drones. Not all that slow as compared to heavy attack drones. ------------- Stop whining.

I use 4 ec-300 and 1 ec-600 in my Rupture and have not lost a fight with them yet. I have fought 2 other Ruppi's, a Rax and an Enyo (he attacked me). Rax just got into my armour before he popped, one of the Ruppis would have popped me had i not got one last drone jam off ( i was in hull and so was he) the Enyo pilot said he was almost permajammed and i can't really remember the specifics of the fight with the other ruppi.
All in all i think the ecm drones are very effective imo and i won't leave home in my Ruppi without them! - Michael Schumacher won many a formula one race. Alot of the time he didn't win because he had a better car...he won because HE WAS A BETTER DRIVER and because he used SUPERIOR TACTICS. |

Yeah guys, Remember, Stacking Penalties are applied to the stat on a ship, not who is doing the stacking.
So, say you want to Dampen someone. That person can have 4 instances of a Dampener on them, before the effects of the Dampener are non-existant. Drones, mods, or a combo of the two, it's doesn't matter.
Only one not stacking nerfed is the Energy Neut Drones. Which are fun to use Vs. Intercepters. Neuts with 60 Km range are always fun.
