Edited by: Qel Hoth on 21/06/2007 23:05:19 I tried using the on-board scanner today. I opened the scanner (f-11) clicked on "Cosmic Signatures" then "On-Board Scanner" then "Analyze." According to my alliance mates, I was supposed to get a countdown timer, which I don't. I sat there for 40-50 seconds and it didn't return anything, even though it is supposed to tell me if it found something or nothing.
Any idea as to what is wrong?
EDIT- I've tried docking and undocking, I've tried switching ships, and I've tried relogging, but all to no effect.

No, the on-board scanner was selected. When I clicked on Cosmic Signature (or any of the other groups for that matter) it would not highlight them, but when I click on the scanner, it highlights it with no problems.

I am having the same problem on my main account, my alt however has no issues using the scanner (and he doesnt have astrometrics trained, so thats not the answer).
Besides, I thought this scanner was avail for all to use, no skills required?
can someone confirm this?

I'll train astrometrics then. But from the patch notes: "Finally, a built-in scanner that has no requirements for additional skills or modules will be added to assist with finding low-risk encounters."

Since you need astro to equip system scanners and recon scanners, they probably forgot about a bare bones player scanner not having the minimum scan groups. -----------

I trained Astrometrics 1 (35 minutes because my 0.0 clone is stupid) and it works now. Changing title to (hopefully) draw dev attention. ----- The above does not represent the opinions of my corp or alliance. |

I don't have Astrometrics trained, but I could use it and even find deadspaces with it. On the other hand, I have Survey III.
'Tis a mystery.

Seems that if u have the skillbook plugged in but not trained to level 1 the scanner gets confused

That explains it. Had it at 0, didn't work, trained it to lvl 1 and it started to work.
