I'm a bit confused now..
Before the patch I could just barely keep up with production of ammo in my neck of the woods...
After the patch my manufacturing time seems to have doubled.
Anyone know anything about this? And if so, are you willing to share?

You're no the only one (on both counts).
Originally by: Killshot DeathBunny After the patch my manufacturing time seems to have doubled.
They have gone up by 250% for ammo and missiles. Yes, you read they right, two hundred and fifty percent. For the drones it's even worse, the times have increased by more than 400%!

There's this obscure entry in the patch notes:
Originally by: Patch notes The job time of all tech 1 crystal, hybrid, projectile ammo, missiles and drones blueprints have been updated and balanced to provide consistent run times between the different types of S&I job for these items.
It seems like somebody haven't quite thought through the effects this change will have. There seems to be no economical reasons what so ever behind this changes just a will to have some numbers seem nice.
This change will in the short term mean price hikes for all consumables (allready happened on some articles) because of inability of manufacturers to keep up with the demand. And also price hikes for minerals because manufacturers will need to have bigger buffers to be able to provide reliable availability of stock to customers.
In the longer term the consumable prices will rise even higher because smaller and medium sized manufacturers will simply give up on this business because it is too much trouble -> consolidation of market place -> closer to monopolies -> higher prices. Mineral prices instead will go lower because fewer manufacturers with bigger buffers can wait longer for mineral prices to settle to desired level.
This all means that small time players will get shafted, They will get less ISK for their minerals and will pay more for their consumables.
Wheras big players will just adapt and move along and reap even higher profits from the hides of newbies.
Way to go CCP, I love it when you make these kinds of changes, they make my profit margins even higher. (And no this last sentence was not sarcastic in tone, I'm quite serious.) ----- Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene 5, Moon 4, Duvolle Laboratories Factory. Ammo at affordable prices. |

are you...uh.. crazy? every pilot and their grandma can pick up a BPO at a reasonable price, research it in 20-30 days and build their own ammo... monopoly on ammo... very funny

It's about time to make the science and industry skills to make any difference. Alright, everybody can make their own ammo and stuff, but only well-trained crafters should be able to make this profitable.

Another point beside skills: POS assembly arrays get a little more viable thru that nerf. --

Crazy? No, Rich? Yes. On tech 1 ammo.

Certainly they can, but will they? And making a profitable business out of it requires a bit of brains and work.

"closer to monopolies", market place being controlled by relatively few players. That allready happens, on tech 1 ammo too. Do your market research. ----- Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene 5, Moon 4, Duvolle Laboratories Factory. Ammo at affordable prices. |

any T1 "monopoly" can be broken into little pieces in very little time. if ammo prices go up more people will manufacture ammo. that means um... LESS like a monopoly

Let me guess... You're an optimist by nature ;)
Anyway this is a perfect opportunity for some market speculation, I put down about 700 million ISK, let's see what happens...... ----- Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene 5, Moon 4, Duvolle Laboratories Factory. Ammo at affordable prices. |

what it means, is simple, the prices wiull go up around 30-50% and stay there, as the profits/prices go up others will look into making their own or making product.
This will also result in the reduction of available manufacturing slots, but whether this causes backlog will yet to be seen.
Cost of the minerals will not change much, but profit will go up so the existing manufacturers will sell less but at a higher margin.
Because of the horrific Kludge the Copying system has become, there is no opportunity for a manufacturer to make spare copies to use in production.
