Approach the gate and activate it? Don't need to kill anything, this whole mission chain you can blitz by just using the gate (1), AB-ing quickly to the gate (2) and doing the same again (3). --- in EVE - Idara |

I did this mission last night. All you need to do is get to the acceleration gate, you do not have to kill all the pirates. When you first warp in there, there will only be a few pirates, but more will spawn over time, so just head straight for the gate at once. Just ignore the NPCs, once you pass through the gate the mission will be completed.

I took a Probe ship, with cloak, and it wasn't a problem. The last gate is the killer. I gave up but another member of our corp said he made it with a Caracal with laid out T2 Shield extender, couple of overdrives and a afterburner.

first area is filled with enemies. I couldn't tank 'em with 82% kinetic and thermal resistance, but you only need to approach the acceleration gate and use it, one the second step you'll find less than half of them, at which point the mission is complete. You can kill them if you like or go back to your agent.

Did it yesterday
1/3 is hard. Did it without warping out but had very few agro on the second ship (did it with typhoon in main ship, raven fitted for salvage .. no weapon), think i was saved because of my "full drone" gameplay, let them do all the work while i was jammed :p. No triggers, the three spawns poped in less than 1 mn without shooting anything, global DPS frightened me a lot in the beginning .. but i finally could bear with it (i've got a typhoon fitted with many faction items .. so it could be quite hard to tank it all with named t1 or t2 fit :/)
2/3 nothing complicated .. just know that for guristas version you'll have mercenaries to fight, resists are slightly different from the first stage
3/3 a friend did the mission once, so i listened to his advices : hardeners are useless, only fit extenders / plates (there are no ennemies). So i fitted my phoon with
high : nothing useful for this mission
med : 3* large shield extenders named 1* AB named
Low : (took what i had in stock, or what was going to be reprocessed ..) 2* 1600mm plate 1* 800 mm plate 2* cap power relay 2* LAR
I ended with something like 13k shield and 19k armor
The gate is at 70km
First waves of damage are light, between 200 and 600 damage each 10 or 15 seconds With the AB, i got to the gate when my shield was down The big wave came at this moment, i thought i was going to loose my ship .. in fact this big wave deals nearly 8k damage, after that i was able to warp .. dunno if damages continue after the big wave, didn't want to know if another big wave was arriving :p

What's in the rest of your mids? 4 slots filled with...? Get a decent booster (I use Large Pith X-Type - never felt the need for XL) and an amp, put 3 T2 Kinetic and 1 Thermal (if you must, otherwise just use the slot for AB or smth). Those guristas that actually hurt you - ie BSs - do very little or no Thermal damage. Most of the stuff that hits you there is Kinetic - protect yourself agains it and you'll do just fine.
Btw, Raven has a 75m3 drone bay - 7x Hammers II or (better in this case) Vespa IIs will take care of those frigs if you manage to aggro the whole room. Sometimes frigs are the triggers - gotta be careful with the dumb drones
p.s If you can - get a buddy in a passive Drake and send him in first. Make sure he does aggro the whole room, warp in and while he soaks the damage and maybe kills little stuff you warp in and kill them all.
Another alternative - just use a shuttle to get to the gate and don't kill anything

Quoting what I said in other thread, I did this mission 2 times this weekend. The first time I runned like a little girl, screaming for the gate. Too much bs's at the same time. The next time I told myself: "Be a man and kill that bastards!!!" And slapped myself in the face twice (slap, slap). Then with resolve in my eyes, i got in the mission and started to fly upwards, and didn't stop shooting until all the damn rats were all dead. I stopped shooting at 270 km from the acceleration gate. And then I smiled and said to myself: "Now you can call yourself a man again.".
The setup on my Rokh was:
8 * 425 t2 rails with caldari navy am (50 km optimal)
1 * gist c-type ab 1 * Pith c-type large shield booster 2 * ballistic shield hardner T2 1 * invulnerability field T2 1 * heavy cap booster T2 with 800 charges
2 * pds T2 3 * mag stab T2
2 * ccc rigs 1 * pg rig
drone bay: full of hobgoblins and vespas (the kinetic ones)

So, is the isk good enough to try and kill them all? or should I get in my interceptor and AB it?
I tried the shuttle but got popped 54m before I could activate the gate.
And I am alittle worried, I don't think my raven can take that first attack when I warp in(once they all spawn).
I would guess that I need to fly out in one direction and hope the others done agro me.

Edited by: Gaden Amoen on 09/07/2007 09:34:16 For myself i think its worth fighting. You can find some more BS worth around 1M in the second room. I lost a Dominix the first time because i underestimated the damage the first time. The second time i jumped in with a raven XL SB II + Shield boost amplifier. My supporter had 3 Shield Transporter+1 large energy Transfer. With this setup it was no problem. Think to kill the murderers first because they jam you and better do not try the mission alone. I had a completet T2 Tank on my raven and the damage was really worrien until my supporter arrived.
The other times i did the mission in a vigil + Shield extender+ plating + overdrive injectors.

thats almost exactly what i did. I warped in and started taking mass agro and thought WTF BBQ but i struggled on and slowly removed any threat to the ship. the second pocket i thought i wonder how fun this could get, so i aligned and took them all out then warped back to the agent.
now i just leg it to the gates and complete the missions asap. 3x quick missions with no fear of loss.

One of the problems is people's blind reliance on those damage type lists that everyone sports in their bios.
Don't fit 1 kin + 1 thermal for Guristas for god's sake! The vast majority of Gurista damage is kinetic missile spam, regardless of what any viral copy & paste bio list says.
(I saw one such bio list that suggested you should use EM for taking down Guristas' shields and Explosive for their armour. Lol. Did I mention this was in the bio of an official help channel ISD helper? )
Find out for yourself what damage those rats do, and fit accordingly. Don't trust 2nd-hand info...75% of people in this game have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

I've ran the Angel version of this mission in my shield tanked Maelstrom. I had 85%/87% exp/kin resists as thats the mass majority of the damage dealt. I warped it, fired up my tank with the intention of killing everything. As the last group spawned i CTD'd. Thankfully i warped out and logged back on and headed straight back in. My large booster II was boosting 448 shields per cycle almost constantly and my tank was failing. Thankfully my 800mm autocannon II's can hit anything out to 30km and all the ships were between 10-20km so i was popping a battlecruiser every 6-7 seconds and letting my Hobgoblin II's pop the 4 inties.
I've since upgraded to an XLII tank repping 1122 shields per activation (without crystals) so the next time i run it it will be interesting :) -----------------------------------

This is incorrect, each blast actually consists of 4 blast, one for each resist, so fit an omnitank and you'll be fine. Did it with an Absolution with no plates, just a hardener for each resists and one EANM, hardly dented me armor.

Fit an omnitank for 3/3. And an afterburner. The faster you get through the gas cloud the better off you will be.
For Part 1, a Drake to soak up the damage is a great help. My wingman flies a Drake in, gets aggro and I come in with my Megathron to kill everything big. Good bounties.

Your problem is your not kiting. You NEED a 100mn afterburnur II and good nav skills. With these two together as soon as you hit the mission you begin afterburning away. This way you utilize your ravens range. I am a nublet in the raven but with this tactic i can solo almost any lvl 4. Don't just try to brute force it.

Just did this mission sequence. Honestly, the best thing for the first two missions is a ceptor. I used a Taranis with an AB, a couple overdrives, and a damage control. The only time I got touched was at the end of the second mission, where a buttload of enemies spawn right as you finish. Took me to half armor before I could warp out.
Honestly, the last part is the easiest. Just take whatever missioning ship you usually tank in, throw an omni tank and an AB on it, and go to town. My dominix laughed off everything with one rep. ----------

I tanked the guristas with a t2 armor tank. Basically, though, you slowly bleed armor, so it's important you start moving to the gate and use it immediately. Or kill fast, which is hard due to jamming, but possible. I prefer to run it fast for LP's instead of remaining around to get the bounties.

I recommend a fast inty/frig with best named/t2 afterburner and some speed mods for part 1. In the version I did (Pith Rats) I could not use the cloak as there was a gas cloud immediately after warping in from the accel gate. There were a few rats right away with more groups coming in as I travelled to the gate.
Part 2, a shuttle or cloakable inty with 2 stabs should be fine, no rats upon warping in from the accel gate, but once I got close to the locked accel gate (40-ish km's away), sentry's and rats(they scram) spawned. The locked accel gate does not unlock, so once you get to it your mission should be done and you can warp out. (My mission completion message didn't pop up right away, so a shuttle was exploded for me)
Part 3, any ship with an omni tank, afterburner and 3-4k hp's should be fine. There are no rats in this part and upon warp in from gate and I landed 58km from next gate. AB towards next gate, tanking the cloud fire, use next gate and you're done. Cool graphics on this stage.
Hope this helps and nice series to get 7-10k lp's in under 10 minutes

This mission is highly overrated, but I guess it depends what faction you're up against. I get Sansha in my missions and it's a walk in a park in an Abaddon, although the bounty overall ain't that big. Instead I grab my Crusader or Malediction just an Afterburner. Speedmods are not even needed.
AB to the gates. Sansha can't even hit you in first part.
2nd one against Mercs is laughable. They spawn when you're 10km away from the gate and you're already warping out when they aggro you.
3rd part. I use my Abaddon with DCU, 2 EAN, Explo Hardner and Kinetic Hardner. Just put on the single armor repair and you don't have to worry at all. The damage IS reduced from hardners. --- Member of the Danish Evefan.DK corp |

I got this mission for the first time today, haven't being doing lvl 4s long
tried it in a shuttle first.. got popped 1/2 way to the gate tried it in a condor with afterburner.. got popped 1/2 way tried it in a typhoon with about 88% resistance to kinetic.. i was on 20% armor when the lag from warping in died. finally.. tried it in a jaguar, with 3 kinetic shield hardeners, afterburner, and 3 overdrives... made it to the gate but ship got popped whilst trying to warp.
thats 15 mil im not gonna see again for a while.
i'd suggest ignoring all the advice here, didnt work.

Similar results here (mission is vs Guristas)....except that in a Condor I made it to the gate with about 1/3 structure left but lag prevented my spamming of the activate gate button to go thru until after the ship popped. At which point the increasingly annoying list of unacceptable ship types comes up reminding me of yet another condor going *poof*. BTW, was doing 1100m/s in the Condor, 625m/s in a shuttle which only got me 1/2 way there. Already lost a Raven (not fully T2) and don't want to loose another. Tried the covops trick but couldn't since some mumbo jumbo about interference prevented the cloak from activating. Soon as I saw that message I was warping to station before any chance of loosing the Crow.

Part 1, Ishtar ftw! I went and got more beers as my Ishtar orbited a BS with a couple of NOS and AB, I just let my Ogre II`s run free and the MAR II permarun. I was never below 70% armor.
Part 2, Sniping mega. Just get proper distance, 100+ from the gate. Fire a round at the starbase. Snipe the scrambling frigs, and then start whopping away. You could go a bit closer with AM ammo and sentries too...
Part 3, take the same sniping mega and fit some Cap rechargers so the LAR II will more or less permarun alongside the AB. Go get even more beer. "He was quite mad and knew it very well, but being mad he did not care" |

At one point my Nighthawk's shield was hovering around 43% I still don't think this mission can break my (almost) passive tank but it's certainly a nasty one and I love it
Meh. Got it again tonight. Did a better job of popping the jammers and only got jammed once. Shield never went below 65%. Walk in the park -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Im not sure why lots of eve players look for the most technical way of doing things, sometimes things are more simple that they appear, i did this;
- got a frigate - fitted it with a proto cloaking device - Completed the mission within 15 minutes
This method works everytime.

maybe because this way you don't earn any bounty, any loots, any salvage components ?

All 3 parts of this recon mission are "doable"
part one, guristas, done in a raven, use 100ab and burn to gate, pop the cruisers as u go, then if u want just jump to other side of gate then align out, get some speed and kill um all
part two, mercs, good fun, kill um all
part three, just knock up your shield resists, same set up as part 2, and burn to gate then jump
when i first attempted this mission i walked through it but forgot my setup then after losing a raven to the first part i refused loads of times but eventually thought sod it, i can do this and have done it ever since.

The DPS that you have to absorb in this first lvl is pretty high. It is tough to kill anything because of the jamming.
Kill all the Dire ships first, starting with the cruisers. This will stop the jamming and allow you to kill the BS's to reduce the DPS you have to tank. Once you get a BS or two down, you should be golden to finish the rest.
Or as others have said, put on some speed and a tank and run for the gate without having to kill any rats.

Just make sure that the jammers are priority number one. Break off attacking any other ship as soon as any of these little sods pops up:
Assassin Killer Murderer Saboteur
All but the sab. are medium size ships so are easy enough to pop with heavy missiles or even cruise. The sab is a frig so even cruise will struggle.
The Extinguisher BS can also jam but usually not until you start poking it so leave it 'till last. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Do it in a shuttle... it's the only way! No money wasted on ammo... no ships lost, and if you do it's what... 8000 isk? LOL Warp in... fly to the gate... activate it... go collect your reward. Same for parts 1 and 2. Third part ya just tank and activate the gate. Easiest lvl 4 mission there is... not bad money either!!

Or get a decent fitting, blow everything up and earn..what? 10mil in bounties in half an hour. The loot will prolly be crap but including salavging you'd likely get another 4 or 5 mil. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Did you have fun salvaging that 270km-long train of wrecks?
No fun at all.

Dominix. Armor tanked vs. Guristas. 2x LAR2, appropriate hardeners, 2x active, 2x passive. 2x Armor repair booster rigs. 1x Cap rig. Bunch o'cap rechargers and what-not. A few guns too for some added damage when I feel like it.
I just let everything aggro, park in 1 spot and wait for my drones to pick off everything, killing cruisers/BC's first, frigates, then BS's last usually.
The first few moments are a little intense but its easily done.
Last stage is easily done with a single armor repper, the last 'wave' takes a nice chunk our of your armor but no worry at all.

Against Blood Raiders, killing everything in pocket 1 is easy peasy. The ships in this pocket are slooooooow... my domi w/ab was flying at about 320 m/s and was outrunning even the frigates! Blood Raiders are pansies at range... just run while taking out the cruisers (because they nos), then just stop the ship and kill the 7 BS, since 7 blood raider BS shouldn't be too difficult to tank, and you can pop most of them before they get in range anyways with a sniper setup.
The long stream of wrecks this leaves shouldn't be too much of a problem... simply bookmark a wreck, complete mission, and come back with mwd salvager, problem solved, enjoy your melted cap consoles.
Pocket 2, however, spawns 3 nossing cruisers in nos range, and I was not able to outrun these, so I made the decision to warp while I still had cap to warp. A passive tank might be a good idea if one wishes to kill the ships in this pocket.

Profitability is not amount of isk, but amount of isk (this includes LP at base 1000 isk/lp, though you can get significantly more) per time unit. A lot of people actually think that a mission that gives you 20 mil in bounties is better than one that gives 5, no matter what. That is so wrong. Like duo of death is actually one of the most profitable missions around, yet many people think its crap. At the same time Angel extra, which so many people consider great, is only average.
As for Recon, due to the uneconomical NPC composition (too many HACs and worthless mercs) paired with relatively high mission rewards, it yields a MUCH better isk/time if you blitz it with a fast ship. But please continue fighting them, keeps the reward high for us blitzers
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

Did it solo with a shield-rigged Drake (even after the BC shield reload nerf it's a very good choice). But even that ship cannot tank the onslaught forever, so you have to approach the next gate right away and use it.
Another time, I did it with a corpmate (Drake + Hyperion). Between the two of us, we could clean out the Guris and loot afterwards
