So i'm trying to fit a tengu for exploration, mainly low-sec and HS. It's supposed to be completely solo all in one; no scan alt, no nothing. Naturally this will mean jack of all trades, master of none. I've never done much exploration in low sec, but I am hoping this fit is somewhere along the right lines?

Oh thanks, I did not know that. But HMLs have even lower DPS, so I think I'll rather switch the rig. |

HAMs are still a terrible idea -- one of the biggest advantages a Tengu enjoys is ludicrous range and you're giving that up for a few more DPS on paper. Don't do it; fit heavies.
Also, don't try to do it all in one setup. That ends up way too expensive and gimped. Do a scanning/travel setup with Emergent Locus Analyzer and Covert Reconfiguration and carry a Dissolution Sequencer and an Accelerated Ejection Bay to swap out. What you do from there is up to you and your budget, but that should get you started. |

i only do combat sites. others are a waste of time for a few million isk, when you could be looking for a 4/10 that could get you a 400mil shield booster. so use those code breaker and analyzer slots for something more useful or trade subs so you get another high slot instead of 6 mids and use another invul or a specific hardener.
you want range. use heavy missiles. you can't do 5/10 or 6/10 with that so it's not like you need extra on-paper dps to kill frigs in 4/10 sites. |

Per above, have two fits, one for combat and a slightly altered one for scanning. If you found something dock up, swap fit and go do the site. If you really DO want to have an all-in-one then have a look at this, it's not ideal as it's a little bit of everything but it'll work.
If you feel that you can do well without a real covops cloak (and you can just fine in low sec, with some practice), swap the covert sub for the missile one and use a T2 cloak. Your dps will go up by a lot.
