Well title does say it all..
Im just intrested in hearing what others have to say, and how they motivate it. (By type I mean sansha/serpentis/angel etc, not the "size" of the rat)
Go go! ;)

I'd have to say angels, they are hard to tank and deal with, especially for amarr and gallente since their resists, damage type and speed.

Oh my poor Cracal hates those bastards! Agree with you here, I'm currently running missions in Caldari space and I can't wait until I'm mission running in Amarr space again... Lot less people, lot nicer NPCs to kill... ---- Why donĘt you show us on the dolly where the bad miner touched you. -Thesas

Heh, I am opposite. I find Angel annoying to tank and Gurista a joke. Being shield-tanker the Kinetic purity of Gurista make them a joke to tank, jamming or no jamming. Blood raider with their improved NOS'ing would probably be the bane of my Cap-based thank.

Before i got a NH, mercs allways scared me for their unpredictibility in damage types and high chance of scrambeling (damned wingman!)
Allways have found sansha to be the easiest to deal wtih, mainly becous of armor tanking ships (and maily amarr) ones having so little trouble taking them on |

serp=easiest angel/mercs=hardest
then again im flying in gallente space and dont fight blood/sansha/guristas all that much (some missions, but most are angle/serp/merc)

I find Empire Faction rats to be the worst. (Not sure I can call them rats, as they don't really pirate )
But then again, I'm Amarr fighting Minmatarr. Speed is a bugger and so is tanking.

Mercs do the same sort of damage as angels, only they do alot more of it. But they can't tank at all so if you pack enough dps you can take them out purely on the HP buffer of a BS, they melt that fast. Also they are close range, whereas something like angel seraphim happily puts on the pain from 50km away.
Also guristas are annoying, not hard. Just pack all kinetic hardeners and laugh. Although they have 9 railguns fitted on their ravens they suck at using them.
BS size rouge drones are also scary if you happen to have them close, they hit like a truck. But they suck at range and go slower then a cap ship it's not hard to deal with them, even though the tank on them is rather tough.

I fly Minmatar and I would say Sansha's rats are the easiest targets. Their weapons are piddly with any range involved and they're incredibly slow. CCP tries to make them less useless by warping you with 5km of them but it's still easy to get away.
Hardest, angels. Inconvenient damage types for most Minmatar ships.

Massive ammounts of serps... hardest imho.
Your thinking angels, but honestly a bang on top line cnr can sit there for a day and an age tanking 16 angel battleships and assorted cruisers....
From experience a top line 93% resists double corpum repped eos won't do the same:( ______

I find most of them almost equally easy to tank, only Blood Raiders are a bit trickier, so put them as nastiest. I'd have to say that although I hate fighting Guristas most (because of jamming), when they don't jam (or I get angry and get the FoFs out), I find them easiest to deal with.

LOL, this tends to point to me that the easiest rats are those that people are most familiar with.
I mainly fight Angels in Minmatar space and find them easiest to fight against.

Serpentis are damn easy. At least because my NH already has high therm/kin resists.
Guristas are the most annoying because of the jamming, but the hardest are certain Rogue Drones that do a shedload of all the damage types. --- in EVE - Idara |

I live in Angel 0.0 and i find them very irritating opponents and though nuts to *****, especially the new encounter rats(Gist, Gistii, Gestum and so on), it takes an almost full load of Cruises to go trough just 1 and they sometimes come in groups by 8.
About jamming NPCes, don't you guys ever fit a ECCM?

Doesn't work. Rats have a flat chance to jam that no sensor strength will defend against. Just like cruise-range light missiles and infinite hidden cap, their EW is NPC Supercharged.
If it was ratting-size spawns, maybe you'd be fine. But in e.g. The Assault vs Serpentis you're facing a good 20+ rats at once, and even their battleships seem to damp.

Gurista.
When it takes ages minutes to kill a few rats because you're near permajammed You know these are the nastiest rats out there. Can't fit for it (I tried didnt notice any difference). It's like the rats having 95 resists across the board.
There's little a sledgehammer can't fix. If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer. If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p

Use Torps instead? My ratting raven has no problems with Angels, Serpentis, or Drones. Its all T1 fitted except for a T2 Large Shield Booster (no XL needed for ratting). I do have a EM rig on it which does help on the occasion Angel BS that likes EM damage.
I will admit that Guristas are annoying since they jam...a lot. Even doing lvl4's w/ a ECCM equipped, I still get jammed. When I ratted serpentis w/ a Drake, I equiped a AB and orbited them at 5km. This not only counteracted the dampning, but the defender spam. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

hey hey
Hardest :
Blood Raider - due to their anoying NOS and my poor matari active tank :( Guristas - due to tha overkill on ECM :? WTF with that. they are easy to kill but **** me the jam like crazy Drones - their omni damage types, speed, variety, en mass anoyance
Easiest : Mordus - Pure Kinetic makes like very very easy

Well that depends a lot on the ship you use. For the Raven, it is pretty simple:
Easiest to hardest: Angels. Joke to tank, and their EW is harmless. Sansha. Slightly harder to tank, but also harmless EW. Serpentis & Guristas. Joke to tank, but very harmful EW. Though tbh they are not really hard but just terribly annoying. Blood. Slightly harder to tank, and possibly deadly EW in the form of uber range heavy nos on battleships and HACs.
Thank you SkyFlyer!

While you're killing the Big Momma(s) the little ones gather around. When they get close enough (<20km), release 5x T2 drones and loot/salvage while your drones kill them all (may require some direction ) - works for me every time with no wasted ammo and lots of tasty drone bits.

HATE: Angels. Their tank is just a total pain. Plus they do spectrum damage so they're harder to tank.
Honorable Mention: Guristas and the perma-jam.
LOVE: Blood Raiders. I go through them like a hot knife through butter and they drop Melted Capacitors.
Honorable Mention: Sansha. Like Blood, not quite as many capacitors. Phoenix Logistics Industries

Guess you didn't get the memo. NPC jammers are not subject to ECCM. They get a flat percentage to jam and that's that. Just like they can charge their shields without cap, etc.

I have a theory that ECCM does help, but only those who didn't get the memo. At least against belt rats.
My standard ratting fitting includes active ECCM module; every time I forget to activate it, I feel I get jammed often (in BS). When I have it on, its like one cycle of jammed per 10 or more random Guristas spawns.
Should be easy to test should someone come up with different results. Like rat till spot tankable Nullifier cruiser spawn, then keep turning ECCM on and off every 5 min intervals.

Guristas are by far the easiest, mostly kinetic, and mostly torp spammers when it comes to fighting BS rats. They get the occassional jam, but that really is nothing in the grand scheme of things. -----

It is totally dependant of what kind of ship you are piloting:
for my Gallente character piloting gallente ships angels are a bane, he has learned to use projectile weapons and minmatar ships to counter them (didn't wanted to go Caldari).
For my Caldari character they are easy.

I agree with the last poster about Concord/DED. Tried some one time with another Char and a Tristan wasn't able to solo the blockade vs them in a fitting he could do all lvl 1 empire missions with ease. But as risk vs reward goes those give a lot off tags which are worth a lot.
