Subject says it all: Is it possible/safe/worth it?
I can use t2 heavy drones, and my armor tanking skills are decent. My primary goal is to get enough cash to make a domi that can do missions super fast, would doing lvl 4's in a Myrm be much more profitable than doing level 3's?

Damage wise, Myrm is almost on par with the Domi on an armor tank.
Tank-wise, if you try armor, you get sub-par results (compared to the Domi, that is). If you passive shield-tank it, it's just as well tanked, if not even better as the Dominix... but you have to fit projectiles because you can't afford any capacitor drain, so you go a bit slower.
Also, with the Myrm's drone bay, you can afford no mistakes, one drone lost means going back home for a fresh one.

The main advantage of the dominix is its dronebay, you have more versatility to face different situations that a myrmidon can't have. For example in a domi you can carry 5 sentries AND heavy drones even of different damage AND light/medium for fast frigates, so you can adapt and do mission faster (so more isk :) ). Build your isk with the myrm in lvl3 and go to lvl 4 in a dominix (i suggest to try the domi in some lvl 3 mission before the big step just to learn how to handle your new ship :) )

What he said. Any time you can deploy sentries in a Domi the mission goes immediately into easy mode.

Alloron,
It's definitely possible to do some level 4 missions in a Myrmidon - maybe even all of them with care - but there are times when you need the versatility that only a larger drone bay will afford you (if drones are your primary damage dealer). I happily use a Myr for some level 4s, but swap to a different ship (Domi, Ishtar, Deimos, Megathron even) when the circumstances dictate a different approach.
I'd suggest running level 3s for a while in your Myr. You'll breeze through them, and on an ISK/hr basis you'll probably come out ahead of where you'd be if you went for level 4 missions. When you have the Domi you'll be able to do the level 4s that much easier, and you'll still be able to bring out the Myr when it's appropriate to do so.
So, in summary: possible - yes; safe - if you're careful; worth it - maybe not.
Cheers Al. D.
Note: (with all due respect to Akita, who is very accomplished in this area) a passive shield-tanked Myr can be very effective, but it is also a very specialised fitout, and (if you're anything like me) your armor-tanking skills are likely to be more developed than your shield skills.

Thanks for the tips, I'll stick with level 3's till I can buy and fit a domi.
I haven't done missions in a long time; the isk/hour for LVL 3 seems kinda lacking in comparison to 0.0 ratting. I usually don't loot and have never salvaged, is it worth it to come back in a dedicated loot/salvage ship for LVL 3 stuff or just go on to another mission?

I've been running lvl4 missions in a (passive) shield tanking Myrmidon for a while now (post Rev II), i've run into only one mission i wasn't able to handle (Enemies Abound #5), and only because i changed tactics (you don't have the firepower to destroy the gate before they overwhelm your shields). While i agree that the Myrmidon isn't very flexible with it's drones, you can get a long way (4xOgreI, 5xHobgoblinII).
I've tried flying a BS, but i find it very unmanuverable, it's like flying a brick. The BC can align and warp relatively quick, thus warping back isn't that bad time wise (unless you have been flying through several gates). I generally leave a dedicated salvage ship, cargo ship, and a bunch of drones in and around the systems where i'm running missions, saves a lot of hassle and time when resupplying/salvaging.
The BC is also a smaller target then the BS, while it has bigger defences, it doesn't scale as well.
Now, please keep in mind that i don't have any real experience with the lvl4s since Rev II (have been trying to increase standing with another corp), i know some things changed for the Shield recharge rate (and some other things). But also the lvl4 missions have changed, so things might be much worse for the BC vs. Lvl4 or they may be pretty much the same...
