Hello,
I was wondering what is a good setup for level 4 missions with a megathron, since I have just been able to enter those missions yesterday.
I have been checking the various threads but only to find very old setups and PvP ones...
What should I use? Should it be a snipping ship? A tank to engage head-to-head? Also, I use mostly T1 equipments. Is it a necessity to use Tech 2 equips for lv4s?
Thanks for your help, Vorhal

Edited by: Corwain on 25/06/2007 19:54:35 You're definatly gonna struggle. Get Motion Prediction V, Engineering V, AWU IV and Electronics V ASAP. Use rails, you'll never get into blaster range in deadspace. Either fit a web and use your heavies to kill frigates, or pack mediums to kill them without the web.
Basically:
7x 425mm/350mm rails, 1x tractor/drone link aug/nos 0-1x AB, 4-3x Cap Recharger 2x LAR II, 3x Hardeners, 2x Cap Relays/Magstab IIs/Tracking Enhancers
3x CCC rigs
You're gonna have to learn how to manipulate the rats to minimize their radial. Good luck!

Id drop a repper, add a harderner or two, drop a rail and the tractor, fit 2 assault launchers for frigs, and go with heavy drones, and a web. With 3 CCC's, 2 cap rechargers, you should be quite allright to run the guns and the repper 23/7.
With low skills and a cheap fit, the mega is a bit of a struggle for missions, with good fit and a mega variant - vindicator or navy mega - theyre a breeze and will be done alot faster than the domi for example(not counting salvage). Or thats my experience...

what do you guys think of this setup?anyone havea good 425mm railgun setup?
highs: 7 425mm prototype rails: 1 standard launcher medium: 100mn afterburner II 1 webifier 2 cap recharcher IIs lows: 1 Large repper II 3 rat specific hardners 3 magnetic field stabilizer IIs
Not sure how well this would fare, I figured there would only be enough grid for a small nos, or launcher. Launcher seems good at assisting your drones to take frigs down. My question is would this setup have the dps to effectily run most level 4 missions? Would I be better off in my raven?

Depends on your skills, drones, rigs etc etc ofc.
It will outdps most dominixes by quite a margin(yes you can run rails on a domi, but you simply dont, be gone.). And the Dominix is considered the second best missionship around...

You'd be better off in your raven. Been a while since I've run lvl 4's, but I wouldn't go in a mega with just 1 repper, nor would I bother without having very good support skills really (no idea what yours are like). And consider a Damage control. Most of the time you don't need it, but when you finally do on some of the hard missions you'll really need it :P
Oh, and get rid of the launcher and replace it with a tractor beam =)

i do all of my missions in a hype now pre revelations i did them in an megatron high: 7x 425mm rails 1x standart missel louncher
med: sensorbooster, tracking computer, cap recharger, 100mn ab
low: large repper, 2x hardener, 3x damage mod, cap relay
now i would use a third hardener instead of the cap relay, and use the rigs for the cap i would use semiconductor memorycell as rigs because i dont thing you can substain the rep guns and ab with 3x ccc and the memorycells ad a nice buffer with good gunneryskills more than enough to clear the stage of the mission.
if you want to go factin with your fitting an faction ab would be the first thing to buy than damage mods an repper/ hardener
i like the hype more now because of the repper bonus and the aditional gun. with the repper bonus you can tank more so stay closer to the span and use more damaging ammo. but you loose the nice tracking bonus and the targeting range is nice too.
i dont know why everybody keep saying that a raven ist faster because i have never met a raven pilot that was faster done with a mission than my hype. and if you watch them kill one of those 2xxk cruisers on some missions you know why rails are also a good thing for missions.

Thanks for the help guys!
I guess I'll wait a little before trying out the missions, I certainly don't want to loose the Mega just because of my skills ;)

Dominix is better just becouse you can have a wide mix of drones for face every situation: warden/garden and dominix gun for sniping, medium/heavy for close fight. DPS is not always the most important thing to consider doing missions.

Ammunition - take whatever has the right optimal... You could use weaker ammunition to save capacitor too, but then it'll take longer to kill rats - I'm a nice guy!! and OMG I love Team Tuxford for the speedbalancing... |
