Lol. Is my approach to this practical? Unfortunately I don't have Caldari Frig V, would make it so much better.

Actually looks ok for what it is. Was going to say 'no point?', but then I saw you said it's a FFA. Good stuff!

It's slow. It won't be able to dictate range. And you've fit it appropriately for that.
Nice fit. I like it.
Edit: Consider EM missiles to complement your kinetic/thermal damage. |

Thanks, I would definitely be bringing a variety of ammo. Long range ammos for both weapon systems and both EM and Explosive rockets. |

Dat. tank.
Looks good for the purpose, but you'll want to be careful about keeping a low transversal. Your damage is low enough without halving it because a Rifter is orbiting you at point blank. |

Instead of the rails, go neutrons Instead of the shield extenders, go small cap booster and med shield booster. You'll tank any frig damage for as long as your charges last. |

The goal is to be the last one standing. I won't have enough cargo room for the boosters to last if I get targeted early on. |

I think the implication is that you won't have the hitpoints to last, either. And you'll be able to bring more EHP in your cargohold in the form of cap charges than you will get from your buffer tank.
I think that particular issue depends largely on the number of people participating.

Hm, you do bring up a good point there. I'm not sure how many there will be, 20+ at the least. |

Well, ultimately you need to survive by dumb luck until the damage is tankable. Your goal is to minimize that "dumb luck" period and get to the point where you can tank the remaining participants as soon as possible, for exactly the duration necessary.
...all while having sufficient applied DPS to finish off the one or two people left when they turn on you. |

I guess what I'm hoping will happen with the fit I posted is that during that dumb luck period, someone might start attacking me, realize that they are barely scratching my tank, and then decide their time and ammo is better spent somewhere else. I mean, no Frigate is going to do more than ~120 dps realistically, and that's in optimal conditions on paper. I should be able to easily tank a single frig for eternity. |

I don't know about you, but if I saw such a target I would make it my goal to eliminate them as soon as possible -- if they're that heavily tanked, they're probably not very high DPS and are therefore not helping me kill the other people on the field. Worse, if they manage to make it to the end, they will probably beat me.
But then, it doesn't matter what I think, it matters what your opponents think. |

There will be no podding involved, warping away is allowed and considered surrender. |

Prototype cloaking device. No one will see it coming and probably won't decloak you if you do it right. Wait until only one ship remains, it will probably be badly damaged, then kill it. |

LOL. I think that's against the spirit of the competition, but that's hilarious. |

Well if you want to play nice(r), fit up a cap stable kiting missile kestrel. You're Merlin fit is well suited for the job but if someone decides to team up on you it'll be over, in a fast kessie you can probably avoid taking any damage at all.
The only problem you might encounter is not having enough dps to kill something, if it were a 1v1. However, since it's not a 1v1, just make sure you help kill the tankier ships first then kill the lighter ones later on.
Most likely worse case scenario, ends in a draw. Best case scenario, you win.

yes and yes. still not the best, but use their range and they are golden against other close range fit frigs, or out dps the rare long range ones (if u catch them).
edit: + rocket hookbill is one of the best frigates in game. |
