The scenario is repeated daily and petitions are constantly rejected for it. Lets examine it.
You try to sell an item for 1/100th of the value in the market it will warn you and you will have a chance to cancel and change the order. This is especially important given that the text field editing in the game is buggy at best.
Now that you have the order up for lets say 30 million isk per item. You get into price war and keep adjusting the price down. Except you either mistype or the famous bugs in the text editing hit you and you cut off a zero. As a result you end up instantly selling all the items for 3 million isk per item. Those that bid 28 million isk get the item for 3 million despite their bid. The pilot also gets NO WARNING that they are selling at 5% of the market price.
Three things should be done. First and foremost the text editing must be fixed and frational ISK needs to be REMOVED from the game. Who the heck ever cares about .05 isk? Second, there needs to be a warning when editing an order if the price is fractional below the average price. Finally, CCP needs to make it so even if the user accepts the lower price after the warning the buyers will buy for their bid price no matter how low the designated sale price is. The higest bids will go first and so on.

This definitely needs to be fixed.
I've lost a good bit of ISK to this, though not as much as some people I've known.

I have been bitten by this, and as you say the text input field for price changes is buggy. I also see all kinds of crazy rounding inserted on my behalf like .9999 when I don't even have a decimal in the price I am changing.

Believe me, many people care about .05 ISK especially when you buying and/or selling 10 millions or more of Tritanium or Pyerite.
Not that I don't care for bugs being fixed, just don't think that fractional ISK needs to be removed.

Seriously. If you aren't carefull enough then you need to be more carefull. If you can't take a second extra to check the numbers then it's your fault, not anyone elses. I like how this game favours the inteligent.
Btw, I've never encountered any bugs with the text editing field. I'm looking for one now and still can't find it.

It'll happen to you eventually.
For minerals, I don't see being able to remove fractional isk, like 2.05. Maybe just separate the decimal value into its own field. If you are paying close attention this won't bite you, but when the value changes on you at the last second, and you are already clicking "ok", it hurts.

People who buy lwo-value stuff in the hundred million quantities. Build a lot of ships, missiles, or whatever and you'll change your tune. A fractional isk ends up a lot of money over the long-haul. And if you don't want the tens, or hundreds, of millions eaten by fractional isk... Send it to me. :) I have my eyes on a new Rokh, but I'm too cheap to buy it.
Quote: Second, there needs to be a warning when editing an order if the price is fractional below the average price.
Why? As long as the separators are put in so you can read the numbers properly, you should be on top of something that mundane.
Quote: Finally, CCP needs to make it so even if the user accepts the lower price after the warning the buyers will buy for their bid price no matter how low the designated sale price is. The higest bids will go first and so on.
The way it is now is fine. Though, at times, I find the inability to purchase the small orders that are slightly higher (to clean up the market interface) to be annoying. OTOH, the people trying to scam with 8 million isk shuttles have been shut out of the loop for all but the dumbest players.
Plus, I suspect it's done that way to help combat inflation.

I've had it happen. Sometimes when you try to give a set amount, it will bug over and try to give someone the entire wallet. Almost cost me 300+ million for a 5 million transfer. Did cost a corpie 500+ million, though the guy who got the bug-pushed funds was pretty cool and sent it back to her.
But more than the bug, the numbers, lacking separators, can cause you to make mistakes. That's why we use separators in real-life. Because people, no matter how educated or sophisticated, start having trouble differentiating large numbers due to the way our brains are built.

It sounds like the bug can cause the number to increase or decrease by a factor of ten when you simply change part of it. While checking carefully may get you around this, leaving a broken interface alone is hardly promoting intelligence. -

This could be fixed pretty easy most likely..
Rather then a single large box to type your prices in.. use the type of boxes that are used when registering software..
make 5 separate 3 # boxes that only allow 3 digits in them so you have a hundreds, thousands, millions and billions box so you can tell at a glance how much is being priced.
So rather then typing in 2000000000 for 2 billion its more like 2 000 000 000 in separate boxes. ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

If they were to do that they'd better make it so you can type/backspace between them seamlessly. -

if you're updating a dozen orders of battleships or something else with many digits, rechecking your entry is annoying because the number is long and there's no commas to make it immediately obvious that you're selling at 9.5m instead of 95.
if you make a sell order with a digit missing, you get the popup box that says you're selling way below average price, so why shouldn't the same box come up when you update an existing order? a similar warning on the high end would also be useful. if you're selling a stack of battleships and you fat-finger the update, you're going to get an enormous broker fee on your multi-billion isk order.
Quote: Btw, I've never encountered any bugs with the text editing field. I'm looking for one now and still can't find it.
I get the random extra decimals bug all the time. isogen order is at 90.22, I update it and the price field autofills with 90.21999 or something.
