ship setup:
Dominix
Highs: 4x 250mm T2 rails with spike ammo; 2x heavy Knave NOS.
Mids: T2 AB and cap rechargers Lows: 2x Large accomodation reppers; 3 active hardeners (kin, therm, explos) 1 DCU II; 1600mm RT plate
rigs: aux nano pump, cap ctrl. ckt. and nano bot accell
drones: mediums Hammerheads and Ogre I's
Got to the last part of the mission where the "EOM Death Lords" spawn and I can't break their tank. Got my Ogres on him and at optimal range and less for my rail guns.
I can't even get his shields past 50% till I have to warp out from all the damage I'm getting from the other death lords.
advice?

Are your drone skills at good level? Try 5 warden (train for level 4 at least) and snipe before they get near you, leave the 1600 plate and put another hardener, take LARII as soon as possibile, put one more gun and a drone link augumentor to snipe longer (the nos is not so efficient in PVE). This is a standard dominix configuration for level 4, check also the angular velocity of the target, if it is more than the ogre tracking they have an hard time to do damage, so you can try to put some ominidirectional link in the mids to help or use some medium tech 2 instead (faster and better tracking).

well - read up on the mission itself? That's to begin with. How do I know you never did? Cuz you mention "death lords"... As in plural, more then one . You shouldn't ever deal with more than one death lord if you know what you're doing. GB is one of the easiest + most profitable level 4s if you do it right, ie learn which ships are the triggers and do not kill them until you cleared the previous spawn.
- kill 1 little cruiser (yeah, just one!); - kill 1 or both bigger cruisers (arriving as the little one dies); - kill spawning BSs (small to large, ie Hydras first, then Ogre - a trigger); - kill Death Lord - kill remaining bigger cruiser (if you hadn't done it before); - kill another 1 small cruiser (yeah, still just one...); - run steps 2-5 until you run out of targets; - kill the final little cruiser, run through 2-5 again, don't forget to loot - ~3,000-3,500m3 of high quality loot, not your usual gurista's style sh*te - done.
At no point you should see more than 3 BSs at the same time and those would be 2 Hydras and 1 Ogre.
Next time your agent offers you GB - say "yes, please!" and enjoy

EoMs are resistant to thermal, try using kinetic drones.

Try using only kin/therm hardeners, 2 of each if you can, it seems to work well for me. And unless you got Ogre IIs, use Wasps or kinetic sentry drones.

Edited by: Shadowsword on 03/07/2007 08:55:26 Easy way to do lv4 gone berserk:
The first spawn is 3 cruisers and 3 BS. Kill the 3 BS first, then one cruiser. After that, kill every reinforcment, but don't touch the 2 cruisers left until you killed the EOM death lord, then kill one of them. Rince, repeat.
2 kinetic and one therm hardeners, with one single large rep, should be enough to tank this mission easily, so you can put one damage mod, and try putting 350mm railguns in your high slots. You don't need heavy nos to sustain a tank like that, and your drones will deal with the cruisers nicely.

...seems that the problem lies in the skills and in the drones. Try using Wasp and Vespa drones instead of Ogres and Hammerheads. Only when the tide goes out, you see who's been swimming naked... - Mr. Buffet |

Only the EoM Ogres get close to you, and they start far away and are slow. Every BS in this mission, if triggered properly, can be easily taken out with Warden sentry drones.
It helps to kill the EoM Ogre before the EoM Hydra in the same spawn so it doesn't get close, which will spawn a Death Lord... a Death Lord and a Hydra should be tankable together.

ok. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. Like "The Blockade", this mission can go south real fast unless you know the triggers.
Dropped the RT plate. Added another kin. hardener.
Added Wasp heavy drones. Used anti matter for its good kinetic damage performance. Went to 4 250mm T2 rails.
Paid close attention to the order in which I attacked the rats.
Much easier. 26 Mill in bounties + loot + minerals from loot burned. Not counting salvage.
Gonna let this one respawn and farm it all week.

Nice work, it's a pretty decent mission once you get the hang of it.
Always read this site: http://home.broadpark.no/~tijohann/eve/missions/ before doing a mission for the first time. Prevents severe surprises.
General advice is always hardners > plate in missions (IMHO). Most of the time if their DPS > your regen you have to leave. All plate does is give you breathing space. I run a phoon with 5 hards (bit over the top) and I rarely get my tank broken.

I too have no problem with this mission.
I dont run an AB, just a full set of cap recharger 2's
I run x2 of EACH hardener required!
Oh, and I do use Ogre2's..
I can tank the BS's forever, killing them does take a while, but they eventually go down.
