Edited by: CaptainSeafort on 04/07/2007 09:34:40 yesterday after patch, i checked the end lua tags on my shortcut were there, and logged in as usual. i did a mission, and wandered around a bit, pleased to see my settigns, windows etc all intact. a few corpmates were complaining that their settings had been lost, but they didnt use the end lua tags, so i decided taht was why.
i log on this morning.....to the eve tv advert? surely ive seen taht already. oh well. hangon..intaki? im pure gallente, bebbe! damn, its got my alt out...and the wrong eve window size.... and my window sizes gone....
i undocked with trepidation. it truly is armageddon - all of my 20 overview settings have been wiped. gone.
i remembered someone mentioning that you could fix the removed settings by copying your settings folder from your eve dir to the mydocuments section. so, i open my eve dir.....and i have cache, but no settings. great.
WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED? WHAT DO I DO?

Still annoyed that ccp 'fixed' something that didn't appear to be broken.
I don't know a lot about this but if everybody in eve started of with a new and empty cache and settings folder, would that help reduce lag? mebbe it was a sneaky attempt to force us to clear them. (this is purely speculation mind u ) CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

You propably set the settings same as they we're before patch, takes 2-3 min.

Hrmz.. 20 different overview settings in 2 to 3 minutes? Let's see you do it. Go on. Do it and fraps it so we can watch your mad skillz. Then see how you like it when you have to do all that after every ******* patch.

Using a few minutes re-doing your overview is trivial.
Shooting a blue because you didn't realize the settings were borked is another matter.

My settings seem to reset them selves every couple of days ( since rev-2 ) not a big deal to change them all back again just gets a tiny bit *oh for ffs* sort of thing

Pre patch, fine Post Rev 2.0, fine Post Rev 2.01, fine (for 3 separate clients on the same computer).
But I cheated - I've been using my CMD script to place the cache/settings in the EVE folders (out of harms way in Documents & Settings).

It doesnt have to be trivial btw, it can be a pain in the arse if you have mutiple accounts and different empire / 0.0 setups. But for single accounts, sure - it's trivial.
this single account is run by a man with ocd-stylee need for specific placements. all my windows were palced to 1 pixel accuracy in the same setup ive had since castor, i save the different colourschemes in a text file in my documents, and i have lots of overview settings, each very carefully tailored for a different situation, different sec, different gangmates, different ship etc. tell me thats "easy" because i have a single account.
anyway, the thing that was getting me was how it was fine post-patch yesterday, but broken this morning... what the hell happened there? >.<#

issue resolved - i noticed my sisi copy still had (relatively) up-to-date settings, and its cache/settings folder was intact. i backed up the newly formed one in my tq build, then transfered sisi cahce across - instafix =D

Now just remember to backup your eve from now on, before each pathc-day ;)

weird, for me it was opposite, after the revelations 2 patch i lost all my settings and overviews ,and after the patch yesterday all my old pre rev 2 setting&overviews magicly made a comeback, obviously while getting my old settings back i lost all the new settings i made after rev 2 ,not that i mind that too much .
