Just a passing thought, as I was r-clicking to bring up my bookmarks to use them. Would it be a useful addition to have the option to have them displayed in your overview?
Personally, in most systems there's only 2 or 3 places I visit regularly. I have them bookmarked, rather than trying to remember the station name, etc for my stuffs.
So.....what if I could change my overview settings.....just have my bookmarks displayed instead of every station in the system. Wouldn't that make life easier? Less fiddling about than 'Find an empty bit of space, r-click, find the right BM, mouse over it waiting for sub menu, choose the right option'.
Also, this could be useful for knowing where your safe spots are, relative to your current position. Click the SS on your overview, and a tag appears in space showing you where it is (like now if you click on a gate, etc.) Nothing worse than needing to run to your SS, only to find it's behind you!
So, your thoughts, before I put it in ideas and suggestions and it gets ignored.

excellent idea. Though I'd prefer if I could choose on a bookmark by bookmark basis

As with the r-click menu, the only bookmarks that would appear in the overview would be the ones relevant to the system you're in.

You guys are teh noobies.
1) Bring up P&P. 2)right click on any folder, and select (i dont have eve access so have to go by intuition, and its called release pane, or release window or something).
Now you have that folder open on your screen like a chat window, and can drag it around for optimal placement, or make it transparent like any other chat window.
I wont get into what scenarios this is particularly usefull in. Just say that it can make a really really really big difference in some cases. This may not be work safe -Capsicum |

I'd have it as a separate window in the overview, not cluttering the objects overview - otherwise bookmarks at a gate camp would mess things right up.

They'd be optional, like every other overview object. You don't have to have them displayed when you're gate-camping.

They already appear on the solar system map, which is handy.
I'd be in favour of it if and only if it didn't generate lag.

There's a chance it could decrease lag, as there will be less info being transferred to you overview. Perhaps only client side lag, but it's all lag.

They should be displayed in space as well, like they are in the star system map, not only on the overview.

LMAO O RLY?
Don't be so stupid - I'm going to have a number of sniping BMs around a gate in case I get primaried, or to warp to the closest to a sniping enemy. I want them there, but not cluttering the ships.

I'm not sure...you can't afk AP around a system, cause you wouldn't be able to set the WP twice. So wouldn't be abused too heavily.

You're really not grasping what he's saying, are you?
They wouldn't be there, cluttering the ships, because you would turn it off when you gate camp.

Edited by: Talla Hurzin on 13/08/2007 04:40:32 Edit: ARGH thread necro!
Terrible idea that would only lead to cluttered overviews. I don't know about you but I have multiple safespots in systems to jump between in case of probes, scout bookmarks 300km off of popular gates and stations, and quick loading BM's a grid or two off of potential combat sites.
I can't see any situation in which having multiple bookmark entries cluttering overview would be better than just accessing the right click menu. Hopping between safes dodging scan probes? I'd prefer to have a clean overview so I don't even have to check the new entry, I know it's hostile. Being able to quickly access scouting bookmarks? It would interfere with intelligence gathering by having to sort through multiple unrelated entries. With hostiles coming and going you need to be quick on your toes to notice new arrivals and departures. Quick navigation between systems? Warp to zero.

Well in that case, you could exercise your right not to have them in your overview. READ THE PREVIOUS POSTS!!!!

I think one of the main problems with EvE is a cluttered comp screen. Could be an interesting to some to add the option on the overview menu.
I personally would not use it, ccp needs to figure out a way of removing the clutter and still being able to have channels open.
Local alone takes the bottom left of my screen, anyone who says "stack you channels" all i will say is if you stack your local your a newb. Hells

The ability to display your own bookmarks in space and on the grid would be nice too. I can't tell you how many frantically made unnamed bookmarks I have in the middle of a clump of icons on the system map, and no idea if it was at a hostile pos, at the station, or even just a safespot. -----
