Is empire piracy in crisis?
I have feeling it maybe, this is not a whine, but today I checked all the major pirate corp kill boards, and all have less than 10 kills per day.
I am not sure if this is down to warp to zero, specific nerfs or carrier bombing, but whatever is the cause around 1000 pilots are being denied an existnce (I have calculted the 1000 members are estimated members of the top 10 pirate corps).
Can anything be done to 'boost' this path, or is alliance superblob, pos warfare the only future for EVE?

Thank you for your well informed and reasoned response.
I note from your kill board this week your corp hasn;t had a day where it killed over 10 ships, including shuttle, pods and noob ships.
This is my point.

I have not had too much game time over the past year but I have not noticed too much of an issue on the occasions that I have logged on.
One factor you may want to consider is that it is mid summer, you could compare the monthly stats on those kb's from last may/june/july to this year.
Also as folks gain more sp the draw of .0 gets more appealing, less people joining the game as new players and more people leaving empire for .0 results in empty .1-.4. Quite frankly once you rat/plex in .0 anything else seems like a waste, to me at least.
Another may be that the game is simply evolving, people are being more cautious when they engage in fights due to the frequency of large gangs rolling around, baiting in belts, no real incentive to spend time in belts etc..
These are simply my guesses anyways, there are almost always some targets just gotta roam a 15-20 jump route as opposed to a 8-12 jump route.

klepto currently are hitting around 1000 kills per week... go figure
i myself have killed approx 2100 in 8-9 weeks
your looking at the wrong corps, choose ones who know what they are doing

board shows 9751 kills over the 8 weeks I believe it's been up... (it may be 10wks not sure)
also check my stats combined with my 2nd account doctor bbq (I run them both together)
i'm not saying I'm uber (well maybe a little ;-), just that others are not and this post clearly proves that fact...

To pirate someone, you don't have to kill them.
Killboard stats mean nothing unless you sit static and gatecamp all day, obliterating anything that comes within range of the gate.

omg, tiller changed his sig back.
And I agree with Verone to an extent. Not all pirates just pew pew their victims to death, and kbs don't keep track of ransoms along with ship and pod kills.

If you played 23/7 that pushes around a ship every 30 minutes. I think it is reasonable to say you do not play that much so damn...that is vaguely scary to my carebearish mind (and that is just you...not your corp).
Your corp overall is tagging one faster than every ten minutes (if 23/7 so likely a lot faster).

Classic piracy occurs in the asteroid belts of lowsec systems. However, not everyone who enters lowsec enters belts, and thus, the belt pirates have the potential to catch only a fraction of the total number of people travelling through lowsec.
But, there are places in lowsec where people go, even more often than belts, because they have no choice. Everyone who passes through lowsec needs to travel through the gates. As such, gatecampers have the potential to catch everyone passing through lowsec, and a properly set up gatecamp can catch every single one of those people.
By situating a gatecamp in a system with alot of gate traffic, like a lowsec system that conjoins two hisec systems *coughRancercough*, you get alot of unsuspecting victims.
Unsuspecting people also, conveniently, tend to carry more valuable items and be more lax in their fittings in terms of gtfo.
Thus, it is concievable to think that they could get a person every 1-2 minutes during peak times of the day, which last for a few hours.
Due to the nature of gatebombing, a common practice of tiller, only one person (and a wtftanked lewt-grabbing ship) is required to do it. Because tiller and his alt, Doctor BBQ, are the only ones who can afford to fit faction/officer smartbombs on their bombships, they tend to be the ones doing the bombing.
Thus, tiller racks up an assload of kills on par and even sub-par days.
Disclaimer: Kills from gatebombing rarely include anything above shuttle/noobship/t1 frigate/t1 indy if lucky/pod, but that doesn't change the fact that his inbox must be blinking so fast that if he were an epileptic, he'd be ******.
/me is exhausted after typing all that

We make the most money from smartbombed shuttles and noobships carrying implants, bp's, data interfaces etc.. So the bombs, even though they just kill small stuff, are the weapons netting us the most iskies.

Might I add that a number of pirate corps don't use a KB at all?
I won't allow one while I'm CEO because it discourages people from trying to make money, and encourages them to enlarge their e-peen. Thus, more podded people and less iskies.
