I'm not quite new but I'm trying to get myself involved in industry a bit more.
I have two blueprints. They both have a material level, waste factor, material and productivity level. However, then they have some different stats.
*One has a "Production Limit" which is very very high, whereas the other is rather low. *The one that has a high Production Limit is listead as "Copy: Yes" and the other does NOT have this attribute. *The one that has a high Production Limit has a field that is very very low labeled "Licensed Production Runs Remaining."
I am not sure what to make of this. What is Production Limit? Is a blueprint that doesn't say it's a copy or not an original for sure? Forgive me for sounding a little dumb about all of this but I am not well versed in this.

At the top of its Attributes tab when you Show Info it, a blueprint should identify itself as a blueprint copy or an original blueprint. Blueprint copies can only be built with as many times as they have licensed production runs remaining; original blueprints can be used to build as many runs as you want. Also, you can further research original blueprints, while blueprint copies cannot be improved.

Well I notice that if I review in the marketplace, say, a Gallente Shuttle Blueprint... there is no mention of it being an original OR a copy. It does lack the "licensed runs" however. Do I assume anything without this figure is an original?
Also, what role does the mysterious "Production Limit" play? For example I saw a copy that has a Production Limit of 1000 but a Licensed Runs of only 30.

Could you tell us which items these blueprints are for? As in, what their name is? It may help us figure this out.
The poster above me is correct about the copy/original thing, but the Production Limit thing has me baffled. It might be the amount of item that's produced during one run (for example, one run of a EMP S blueprint produces 100 units of EMP S) ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

Edited by: Matalino on 06/07/2007 04:15:59 Blue Print Orignials (BPO's) are normally bought from the market (T1 only) and have unlimitted runs. You can research them to improve Material level (which decreases waste factor) and Productivity level (which reduces production time) and can make copies. When copying a blue print the copy will have a limited number of runs. The more runs the longer it takes to copy. Depending on the type of blueprint there is a max number of runs possible for a copy. Originals cannot be used for invention.
Blue Print Copies (BPC's) can only be traded via contracts, not on the market. These also have Material and Productivity levels, but these cannot be changed. Copies also have a limited number of Licensed Production Runs. You can use invention to convert many T1 BPC's into T2 BPC's.
In short if the BP has a limited number of runs it is a copy. If it has unlimited runs it is an original (or an extremely old copy from before they limited copy runs).

Just to clarify, all blueprints found in the marketplace are Originals.
A second guess about Production Limit (seeing as how I don't think there's anything that gets produced in lots of 1000): it may be the maximum number of runs that you can specify in any one job with that blueprint. For example, if the Production Limit was 30, you could specify up to 30 runs, producing 30 items before you had to start a new job. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

Aha, so this is what the Production Limit is? Thanks everybody for your feedback. This stuff makes more sense now.
Or maybe not based on what Polysynchronicity just said o_O

Production limit is the max number of runs that a copy of the BP can have. Remaining runs is how many units can be produced with that copy.

That makes sense. I think he's right. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |
