Any suggestions for 0,0 team mining support ship, so far:
Hi slots - 1 X mining foreman link - laser optimisation Med - Ummh ? (Shield extenders?) Lows - Ummh? (Shield Power Relays?)
The advice will be embraced by a mining carebear so lowest combat skill setup would be useful

Im using a drake for exactly the same thing, mining support and belt tank. Forget about using a passiv tank because you really want a perma-tank you dont have to care about. A passiv tanked drake/ferox with a mining link runs out of cap after ~10 minutes.
go for a small gist a-type shield booster , 3-4 rat specific hardeners and 0-1 shield amp lows with cap flux coils and power diagnostics to keep the cap up (using a med shield booster t2 instead of the gist should work too i think)
Works great on my drake and should work on the ferox too. Tanking a tripple angel BS spawn with it isnt much of a probelm

Thanks for the speedy reply, ummh could you recommend hardeners for Serp rats? and are these active hardeners or passive, or is there (perhaps) only one kind
Thanks again Okapir

im not sure about yours but my PASSIVE tanked drake uses no cap at all!!
plus it can easily tank belt rats all day at about 80% shields or more

I think the problem reside with the gang assist module that require a lot of cap. If u are full fitted with SPR is likelly that u cannot sustain shis module forever ( especially if u are using active hardeners/inv fields), but i'm not a drake pilot.

The passiv tank is really not the problem but running the gang link at the same time is. For a passiv shield tank you exchange cap recharge for shield recharge and in the end the cap recharge left is not high enough to substain the gang link for longer times.
to the op: serps usually do kin and therm damage, so i would go for 2 activ kin and therm hardeners each (t2 preferably) Ran the numbers through quickfit with 1x med shield booster t2 + 2 activ kin + 2 activ therm hardeners + mining link + 4 cap flux coils t2 Resists 25% EM/70% Expl/89% Kin/85% Therm Cap holds stable around 40% If you experience cap problems either switch to a drake and fit a cap recharger in the extra mid slot (easiest way) or drop one therm hardener for a cap recharger or use faction hardeners instead of the t2 (less cap use, same resists)

sorry i stand corrected there i think if u worked around with it for a bit though you could come up with a decent compromise of shield and cap recharge

i would try this: highs: mindlink, 2-3 nos, shield transfer/remote reper, rest guns meds: racial ecm(4), shield booster low: damage control , 2x warpstabs, shield flux coil
fast drones
the idea is to get all npc rats to attack you and sustain your shielding and mindlink using nos on them. the remote thing ashures that a miner doesn't pop if it gets attacked. the ecm should break the lock of any tackler and allow warpout, while the warpstabs enshure that you warp out yourself after everyone is gone.
beware, this is only theory, and the warpstabs will hamper your locking time and locking range. -- Tempus fugit -- |
