Thats the number....(uk)
Ask for your MAC code from the nice polite person at Tiscali.
Then set off in search of a "non-Disney" isp.
I'm off to Zen, they seem to know how to run a tight ship!

Edited by: Snaith on 27/09/2007 21:38:16 Isn't it time to get a few answers, or at least apply some pressure. We have plenty of computer mags and their online forums, so could I suggest even if you are getting your MAC code and swapping from tiscali. You do something. I put this on Webuser forums , it's a bi-weekly publication in the UK....and it went like this
Something at Tiscali is starting to smell fishy. Thu Sep 27 2007 10:00 PM I have been having problems with my Tiscali connection dropping through the floor and being unable to connect to my game Eve-Online during the peak hours for the last week. They assure me I'm not under the restrictions of the fair usage policy, and have "escalated" my problem so many times I feel I'm on the 140th Floor. Going through this pretence everytime that it is my computer at fault is getting tedious, as you can set your watch by the slow down/disconection and the resumption of normal service. On my game forums you can see tiscali customers are starting to bail.(Not high usage 2.4 Gb a month at best with it on 16 hours a day.) Has their new package offer stretched them to breaking point, and they refuse to admit it? Either way something STINKS.
If 30 people posted, not just swapped and gave up, surely someone at these publications will notice and ask why.Spread the word?

Dumping Tiscali and moving to Zen appears to have fixed the problem.
So it's not an exchange issue, and it's not a PC issue. Don't let anyone at Tiscali try to tell you otherwise.

Edited by: Kimsie on 29/09/2007 20:35:26 I too have had this problem for a while.....it started around 3 months ago and comes and goes. Got really bad this week and have been unable to connect at all this weekend.
Just had a heated discussion with Tiscali with regards this....their best solution being to clear my tempory internet files....wtf? As you can guess it didn't work.
I am currently on the 2mb connection...is everyone else that is having problems on this too? They are upgrading me to 8mb this week if this doesn't improve the situation (and i'm not holding my breath) then its MAC code time.

Well at 18:42 GMT I managed to logon for the first time since friday morning
18:43 I get booted and can't reconnect
I was wondering if there is someone at CCP who could contact tiscali (and the other ISP that is affected) to find a way to resolve this issue. It appears that no-one has had any luck when they have conntacted them themselves. This issue has been stickied for a while now and nothing seems to be happening...infact for me it is getting worse.
Even if you report that it is the ISP and there seems to be no solution...at least we will know and can move to a better ISP.
Any response would be welcome

I realise that this is not CCP's doing and not their fault, but this does seem to be a problem caused by port blocking; it's quite probable that channelling eve traffic through another port would solve the problem.
Any chance of getting eve to work over other ports -- 80 or whatever VPN runs over would probably work cleanly.

Already tried Irfan, Sanatan, Jay, Salman, Sai + others, and the last one's name was Deep, he promised me a full refund for all the days this is happening. He says he can see their engineers reports from the uk, and will be in touch. I gave him CCP's isp again and the port number , the pinged problem point and a copy of my down times. Just in case they were misplacing the information. I mentioned I was running a few comments in computeractive forums, and others. Can't get posted on tiscali forums for some reason.

im having the same issues between 20:00 and 22:50 every night uk time, i believe this is due to packet shaping and them classing udp ports as p2p traffic the main issues is they buy bandwidth of BT who have the infrastructure but they subscribe more users than they have band with for basically they seem only to be interested in people who check there email and a few website once in a while. i did a traffic trace on eve and ts over a 4 hour period and it generated 30mb of traffic so its not as though its hight use, hoping to post this on the forums tomorrow as they dont allow you to post over the weekend
i think we should all register and post in this following link
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=135507
not sure what good it will do but im going for either allow the ip and udp port 26000 of eve or allow me to cancel the contract early with no penalty as in effect its denial of service on the part of tiscali

i know that Sky Broadband use Tiscali's servers as i was going to switch to sky i while back when i was telling tiscali how good they were and how good the customer service was.
what i have found out through being with Virgin Broadband is there are 2 types of lines IP stream (i think it was called) and a date stream.
the data stream lines are only 2mb and you will get a ping of about 30 - 50 all the time.
the IP stream lines(if that's what its called) can go up to 8mb line but you will have prolly get a high ping during peak user times.
the only reason i know this is cos i switched my line back to up to 8mb about 2 months ago and had this problem, i also had it 18 months ago just after i switched to virgin, just after i told tiscali how they can use there broadband line and contract as a plug for part of there body
so it might be worth trying to see if your on a data stream or an IP stream.

I started the tiscali post about EVE, there are also a couple of others but we need to keep bumping the post with more information until we get some sort of answer. I have also raised a call on their web form (did not even get a reply or anything from that one) and raised a call at the support centre, promised someone would call me and of course no one did..... The level of customer support seems to be awful and the forum seems tbe best bet for some sort of answer.

i just flat out asked them if they are blocking the port... they can either say yes, then i take them to the OFT, or they say no and they have no option but to make sure that we all have perfect access to EVE. _______________________________________________

Originally by: Panshun I've not had a problem, and I'm with tiscali, in the three months or so I've been playing eve at all times of the day. Until today, havent been able to get connected since 16:00. I'm in cambridge btw.
If you're in Cambridge, go with Virgin Media. When it was NTL, it bought out all the old Cambridge Cable fibreoptic lines which were laid all around the city by the council. I'm on there lowest service (1mb I think) and I can run two eve accounts and a series of MSN webcams without any problems whatsoever.
Speedtest reports 1950kb/s download, 167kb/s upload... with two webcam conversations taking place

Tiscali now seem to be deleting the complaint threads from their forums, the thread in which I had posted about this pointing out the useless standard responses that I'd already received, has disappeared.
The only ones which remain are those where they witter on about following their protocols and doing speed tests, Sod their bloody speed tests, they're blocking PORTS, and they deny it despite huge amounts of proof to the contrary. Watchdog anyone?
I'm writing to Ofcom anyway, I'm livid and fed up being lied to. ------------------------------

Can you think of a way we can incorparate the signatures of all us Tiscali suffer's, just to bolster backing before Watchdog?
Tiscali are going to lie and cheat us all, unless we can pull together. Lieing to one person is easy for them, but doing the same to 100's/1000's of people, backed by Watchdog, might sway things to our favour a little more.
My line was upgraded to 2 meg, but Im always capped at 65k no matter what, my old 512 link was sooo much faster. :(

my posts got deleted from tiscali forums so i have re-posted again and will upload the traces when i get home tonight
i recomend if you have time post your own threads linking other eve threads to get round the issue that you are not allowed to post in other peoples threads
and try to use eathreal (think its called sharkwire now ) to capture all packets going in and out of the pc when you launch eve this will show the 0 response from port 26000 and the re requests to that same port and post that in the thread too
