I may have left a Secure Cargo Container in a Astroid Belt - well, I cant find it agin. A number of possibilities come to my mind:
(1) Some one stole it. Shouldn't I get some mail about that? (2) It "disintegrates" due to the strenous space enviroment (ie it is part of the game that containers disappear with fixed %-probability, possibly related to length of tie, filled, or other attribute) (2b) I used "Jettison" to place the container. Is there a difference to "Launch for Self", and what? (3) Assuming I just cant remember where I left it (well, its limited to one or two star systems), what options do I have to find it? (Scan - how does that work?) Its not in a hangar - Assets doesnt find it, but finds the others |

You have to Launch for Self then anchor it, and to do that you need to be in 0.7 space or lower. If you don't anchor it, anyone can scoop it.

1. No, you don't get an email if someone picks up (steals) your secure container. 2. No, it will be there till someone picks it up, or someone destroys it. 2b. Jettison is fine. If you have the anchoring skill, you can anchor it, preventing someone from picking it up. It can not be within 5k of any other object. 3. So far as I know, there is no way to locate your can. You can scan for cans, but you will find all of them. And if they are not at a planet/moon/station/asteriod belt, you would be able to get to them. You could fly to all the asteroid belts you think you left it in, on the chance it is still there.

(1) No, you wouldn't get a mail. (2) No, it wouldn't have disintigrated, only the jettison containers and wrecks do that. (2b) No difference. (3) To find it, you're reduced to going to each belt and looking at each can manually.
If it's truly gone, you forgot to anchor it, and someone scooped it up.

This is why you should rename the secure can.
