PVP is just about the only worthwhile pursuit in Eve, and it is brilliant. My main character is in a PVP corp, I love gang warfare, etc... But sometimes I just want to go out and fight 1 Vs. 1. My piloting skills against some fool from IAC, RA or Outbreak, etc. May the best pilot win.
How often does that happen? Perhaps one time out of 10. It is more common to be running into or away from blobs, spending endless hours waiting in dead end systems for nothing to come past, hunting fruitlessly for hours, etc.
So, wouldn't it be good if some kind of spatial anomaly was discovered. A form of electromagnetic interference peculiar to a handful of areas in each region. Within these areas (strategically positioned across lowsec/0.0) the intereference created feedback loops on more than one targeting signal. One ship was only able to target one ship. Within these pockets you would be reduced to battle between single pilots, not big gangs. Gang warfare could still occur there, but not in the same blobified way.
This would enable pilots to choose a wide range of combat options not currently possible.
It would make things a lot more fun...
Hands up if you agree...

Edited by: PussPuss on 14/07/2007 12:54:37 You're missing the point. He is talking about regions of space where a ship can be targeted by no more than one ship and can only target one ship...

Edited by: Memnos on 14/07/2007 12:56:22 Well that's a lot different then one ship only being able to target one ship.
And then you would have someone requesting that this area of space only allow frigates for one, battleships for another , cap ships for a third. Thus extending the overall programming because someone doesn't want to pop into combat in a frigate with a HAC.

This is where u set a scout either side lock down a system and begin ratting. THe roaming gangs mentality only works if u have lots of targets to run into.
I mean there are lots of different ways to play this game. DO u want easy kills ( go join kleptomaniacs for that) or do u want a challange.

Edited by: Sixtyniner on 14/07/2007 13:05:46 Would sure improve the 1vs1 aspect of the game, though I hate to see EVE has special restrictions and areas for a given task, it¦s not EVE. I think the whole reason for 1vs1 being so rare is two folded: Players afraif of losing and invites a friend or two to make sure Victory, and/or players who play the game "seriously" which means protect their corp/assets/friends from a RP point of view, IE gathering friends to fight off the enemy.
The first reason is a little bit sad, but understandable to some extent. The second reason is pretty much just playing the game on a more RP/serious level which is fine by me, just more immersion. I can say that I just don¦t "Play" Eve, I kind of more see it as living EVE or some kind of work (a work that I love of course). Running my own corporation and all, I would do what it takes to protect my members and/or assets. ;)

If you want to 1v1 on a regular basis lookup Tetra Games (Tetra Games Public channel ingame), they host matches almost every week. They even have a sidebet feature so other people can put money on your matches if they want.
Kowl. Pilot of the Deadstar. Almost all jobs considered. Check my bio ingame for more details and contact me through Evemail. |

hmmm well the problem would be if there was any kind of minerals or rats, and the fact that the titans would be the main ships running ( HIDING!!) around in there ;)
