Is it just me, or it there lag everywhere I want to be. I cannot understand this. I can rarely get anything done. Takes me 10 minutes sometime just to undock, I have had to cancel countless missions because I simply cannot play... Is it just me and the few people I have spoken too or is everyone experiencing this?? I almost lost a CNR the other day simply because my hardners would not turn on, my missiles would not shoot, my drones would not release, I couldn't warp/move/lock. What is the point....
Why can't they fix this. I've played many MMOs and i've seen my share of lag, but none that make gameplay impossible like this..
Anyway, I apologize if I sound upset, but I am. I love this game, but unfortunately, the last few months have cause me a lot of stress and the game is starting to loose it's kick. I've been playing since Beta.

I like when people put how long they've been playing in their posts like it really has some sort of bearing.

I didn't ask for negative comments about my post, simply your input on whether or not you are having the same difficulty as I. I will remove my comment about how long I've been playing, simply put, it was to show that I know how the game used to be and with the same amount of players online.
Thank you for you time.

Are you hanging out in the popular caldari navy mission systems? Half of those systems are full of chinese farmers that run the servers into the ground. Consider moving to low sec.

Call it lag, desync or whatever you want, I have moved to backwater systems and it is there. I have changed to less popular agents and it is there.
Ever since the dragon patch things have been going steadily downhill (at least for me). CCP knows they have a problem, and I have no doubt they are working on a solution. The question is, how loyal are the players, and how long will they wait for real improvements to old issues?

I am in Caldari mission space. But if I cannot do missions, what am I to do. :)
I guess, I'll try moving down to lower qual guys to see what happens. I've already moved out of Motsu to Aramachi, guess I'll try one more down.
Thank you

Lag and Desync are not the same thing at all. It would help if you knew what you were talking about.
If you are experiencing lag all over the Eve universe, have you ever thought of the possibility that it might be one of the many other points between you sitting infront of the computer, and the Eve server?

Whats wrong with eve is that 90-95% of the devs are on freaking vacation. You're all just going to have to wait until their hiatus is over. The skeleton crew is having a tough time just keeping the servers up and running, forget about lag and bugs.

I am fully aware of how to troubleshoot connection issues and it is actually what I look for first when I have any type of performance problem. You assume too much, crawl down from your high-horse please sir.
You are absolutely correct however that lag is different from desync, and depending on where I am, I experience either one or the other and at some times both. The point is, that overall game performance and playability are getting worse and not better, and had I not actually experienced good game performance prior to the dragon patch I would not have a frame of reference on which to base my assertion.

I don't really get any lag in eve. I have avoided jita for so long because I've read so many of these jita lags to all hell and you get trapped and disconnected in it, but a few weeks ago I had to go there at peak time to pick up a contract, and even thou it was laggy I didn't get the wait 10 mins before action happens lag everyone complains about. This was with 850 people in system too.
On the other hand I've ran missions in systems with over 200 people in them and haven't lagged at all.
In my year and a half of playing eve I've unsynchronized from the server once, and my ship was replaced by a nice gm.
But then again I do have a 10 mbps connection and I'm sure that helps.

keep in mind, it seems the uk has been having some isp troubles around there abouts, and said problems have been affecting alot of people connecting from europe
lag has dried up on my end except for when isk sellers spam the heck out of all the chat channels simultaneously
(keep in mind this isk sellnig spam is a GOOD sign, it means their buisness is down and they need to drum up more mahahaha)

I run L4 missions in The Forge and I rarely experience lag. The OP is either unlucky in their choice of system or needs to review their ISP and hardware choices.
I'm not saying there is no lag in Eve (going to Jita at the wrong time is a seriously bad idea) but to me it only seems to be a handful of systems and (from hearsay) large fleet battles. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Edited by: Moridin920 on 16/07/2007 07:43:09 It's really not that bad for me. Granted, I don't go into high-sec much and I steer clear of Jita wherever possible... It might be your connection though. Even when I do go to Jita, the lag is no where near the levels people report on the forums for me. I can get in, dock, pick up my cheap modules, and leave fairly easily. Sometimes it's a little hard because there's a bunch of ships right outside the dock bumping me inadvertently, but it's pretty easy to maneuver through Jita.
I tried playing EVE at my friend's house and a level 3 mission was absolutely impossible to do (lag), came home later that day, same amount of people on the server (roughly), same amount of people in local, and lag was not an issue at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our piracy may have caused you, but, we are pirates and, sadly, this is our way." |

Fly through Jita a lot, rarely have lag, even during high times. If I do get lag, its simple lag, that lasts maybe 10-30 seconds to get into the system and get out.
Specs: AMd Athlon64 3200+ ATI Radeon X700 Pro Vista Home Premium
Really, if you have lag, make sure its not your computer as well causing it. I can also run 2 clients at once, and suffer no lag while doing the exact same things. "Return with your shield, or on it." |

No lag or hardly any lag in Jita?
People that have lag in Jita have bad computers?
Very strange,
I have an AMD64 overclocked to 2800mhz with 2GB of fast high quality DDR RAM A geforce 7900 GT 512MB overclocked to GTX level creative X-fi gamer sound card 2 x Raptor 150GB HD in raid 0
This system gives me a 3DMark05 score of 9039 It is rock solid, never crashes, runs most heavy load 3D games ( like oblivion, LOTRO, ... ) in high settings.
My cable connection is also very stable and quite fast.
I never have problems in EVE online, unless I go to Jita.
So I wonder what the people that never/hardly have any lag in Jita are doing?

3dmark isnt a real world benchmark....
ati and nvidia both optimize there drivers to get the highest score possible with 3dmark, 3dmark is perfectly optimized games never are.
so your score means nothing unless its at attempt at epeen

Clearly my computer is quite a bit faster, my cable is good, so how come you never have lag in Jita? How come even the Devs admit that Jita has alot of lag ... still you dont?
It would be great if you tell me how to fix my computer so the lag magically disapears

it is just an indication, but like I said, it runs great on games like oblivion and lord of the rings online with high settings.
And really, from the experience that I have, if the system scores good on 3dmark, they play 3d games well. If a system scores bad on 3Dmark, it runs 3D games bad.
So it is not a perfect measurement, but if system A scores 4000 and system B 9000, then you can be pretty confident that system B performs alot better in about every 3D game.

Living in Venal/Deklein and avoiding large blob fights, I encounter lag only occasionally (like twice a week for a little while, with corp chat filling up with 'laggy' comments).
Desynch is a bit different again; nowadays kind of expecting we'll be facing the issues on any larger (>50) fights.
