my friend told me about this game and said it was difficult, but he didn't tell me everyone would be mad if i made a post on the forum to say hi.
i'm a bit of a newbie to online games! i played world of warcraft but it was a bit childish so i thought i'd try eve out.

anyways few tips: don't be so outgoing. Posting your myspace will only get you killed. DO NOT LOOK FOR FRIENDS

This game is GRIMEY, even the Devs cheat, so therfore its not for everyone. But just cause some people act immature doesn't mean you should take them seriously, there are alot of other cool people...

You just haven't learned the first two rules of EVE yet.
1. Don't undock anything you can't afford to lose.
2. Don't trust ANYBODY.
Rule 1 doesn't apply here, but rule most definately does. No one is going to trust that you are who you say you are, just because you say you are. Make sense? Almost everyone in EVE has been scammed at some point in time, so they naturally have very little trust those they don't know, especially a "girl". No offense if you really are who you say you are, that's just how it is.

At the risk of getting molested by the other facehuggers here welcome to EvE.
And umm...well I suck at this game so I'm not sure what I can do for advice but here goes.
-Try joining the EvE university corp, many players have attested to how good they are at introducing new players to the cold, dark, lonly, harsh and often dangerous world of EvE.
-Train your learning skills to lvl 3 or 4 ASAP yes it's boring but will pay of later when you find it takes half the time to train for the T2 toys.
-Remember that Concord does not make things safe, it just makes it more expensive for pirates to kill you.
-Google warp drive active.

Welcome to EvE, it's a cruel harsh place with some really pretty nebulas (nebulae? I can never remember) and fun things to do if you don't mind the possibility that you might die at any time. Kinda like reality in that sense (except we don't get nebulas/e on the earth for some reason)

Look. Ally, right? here's the problem. This is very unlike WoW and MySpace. People don't particularly want to be your omgbffs. They don't want to friend you on MySpace or FaceBook or anything else. They're mainly focused on not getting blown up, and blowing up hostiles and pirates. Strutting into the forums without looking around the game for a minute, reading other entries, following the channels and chats first, was a bad idea. If you're not familiar with an area, don't march right in and start yelling and hugging people. They may not like that, especially if that's not their custom. While we always welcome new players, we don't really do a lot of hugs and myspace and age/sex/location comparison. Savvy?

Dear, from now on the idea is to keep it a secret you're a girl. Only let a very few people know, and then they will use you as their secret weapon all the time and sit back and s****** when they see a girl kickin a guy's a** into gear, be it mentally (ie Dragonlady) or physically (Podding them 5 times in a row).
I think that's where I went wrong, and ended up with my miscreant buddies now.

LOL, this is why half you guys that play EVE are single and the ones that aren't run to EVE to escape their unattractive wife / girlfriend =P
The whole "there are no girls on the internet" is sooooo dated. You guys need to get with the times as lots of girls play MMO's now. This is something you are going to have to get used too...oh noes, shock horror! My sister is in her teens and plays MMO's and she would have made a similar post to the OP not knowing better about the EVE community. Yes it's true, my own sister and even my girlfriend play MMO's...who would have thought huh...real girls =P.
Sadly, a good nature is not an attribute in EVE and i feel sorry for this poor girl but more for the community that has responded as they have, it's pretty pathetic imo.
