I know destroyers are very skill intensive, and I was wondering exactly what skills are recommended for them.

destroyers are skill intensive? not really, they benefit from alot of skills but if you can fly a frigate you can use a destroyer effectively Real turtles tank armor. Real men fly Pink.

Indeed. Heh, some folk's'll try to convince you you shouldn't fly a frigate without all your support skills maxed and everything it could possibly use at at least 4...
Dessies are quite capable with minor skills. 7-8 guns with make short work of any frigate, and while guns aren't quite as plug and play as missiles, they're not super skill intensive either.
Plus they make great salvagers once you outgrow them. ____________________ Skill Showroom |

You NEVER outgrow destroyers, they make some of the meanest tackling ships around, especially since no one expects it Real turtles tank armor. Real men fly Pink.

Edited by: cal nereus on 18/07/2007 02:07:54 You shouldn't even be piloting a tier-1 frigate, much less a destroyer, until you've maxed out all your support skills (including thermodynamics). Stick to rookie ships.
Seriously though, as the others have already said, you can pretty much pilot a destroyer well if you can pilot a frigate well. Frigate IV, Destroyers I, enough skills to fit the guns you want to use, and a little bit of your own personal spice (maybe you want to use more shielding stuff or an armor repairer or some electronics stuff), then you'd just train the skills needed to fit those. And of course, destroyers are popular for salvaging (Survey III and Salvaging I to use salvagers, and Salvaging III to salvage all t2 wrecks). I can't think of anything else. Destroyers are really just frigates with a lot of hislots. :-/

Maybe he means fitting. You should get your Engineering and Electronics up to 5 to max powergrid and CPU no matter what you're flying, but you're probably going to need them before you can fit 8 high slots.

What she said...
Destroyers are not skill intensive to fly, they are very skill intensive to fit properly.

Edited by: Ess Erbe on 19/07/2007 13:40:32 Small *Racial Dessy Weapon* Specialization for T2 guns and ammo doesn't hurt either.
But if you're new and just wanna rock in a destroyer, it's the usual Engineering/Electronics, tanking skills, plus gunnery related skills and the Destroyer skill itself, getting it to at least III, preferrably IV, will enhance your power greatly.
