You act as if these issues can be solved in a couple of hours or a week or something. They can't. I've seen problems, not with EVE, but they've taken more than a month to knock on the head. Solved with a constant effort to solve it, amid several whingbags screaming "What's being done about it??????????".

No pointless, let's here him out. I'm sure the OP knows the source of the desync problem because he's been working with CCP and testing their fixes along with many other helpful players. He's probably very qualified regarding network infrastructure, Stackless Python, and locking issues involving massive concurrent threads. Well OP, why don't you explain it for us? Maybe you should read all my posts, in which I 'clearly' state that I do not know these things, but problems like this in the past have been taken care of with immediate fixes, or maybe thats because those problems caused ppl to not play the game at all, and this time you can still play, but it just craps out sometimes...think and read before you post my friend!

Except you don't know exactly what "problems like that" entail because we don't know the exact nature of the problems, and therefore cannot know the amount of effort required to fix it. This bug is, without a doubt, the highest priority bug that CCP is attempting to fix due to the sheer number of players it affects and the fact that it's having a negative impact on alliance warfare of all sizes. ------------ ULTIMATE LAG SOLUTION IBTL! Your right I don't know the exact details of the problem, buts what I do know. When RMR first came out, CCP released an emergency patch within 24 hours because so many ppl's clinet was crashing, an error that did not on happen on the test server, yet when ppl can play the game but theirs still problems, CCP always takes it's time on fixing these problems....any other player who paid attention to these things will tell you the exact same thing!

Except without evidence to support that the client crashing bug and the desync bug take the same amount of time to solve, we have no idea of the difference in effort needed. So unless you can provide that information, you have no grounds on which to make the assumption that the difference in fixing time was due to any preference on CCP's part. ------------ ULTIMATE LAG SOLUTION IBTL! Client code is a heck of a lot simpler than server code. It's a dumb terminal with a graphics and sound engine.
2nd, Microsoft is a multi-billion dollar company with 1000's of employees and a problem will have to be mighty serious to divert them from their regular once a month patch schedule. So that's a silly statement to make.
You don't just roll back a cluster of servers like Eve is running on when you find out your patch doesn't entirely work as expected. So unless a problem is really serious, it goes through the normal, perhaps somewhat accelerated procedure. And like it not, desynch is extremely annoying but not yet over the limit of absolutely gamebreaking.
And as someone who knows what havoc emergency patches can cause, I'm mighty glad CCP takes their time to fix things.

spinnukur you seem to be the only person not seeing the reason that other players are laying infront of you. let me reiterate it once more for you.
You don't know the exact nature of the problem, the steps necessary to solve it, or even if is a problem cause by ccp's code. You present no viable solution or any evidence to ccp's action or non-action in the matter. All you are doing is making groundless claims about the speed at which the patch is being put just because you want to play the game. If this is such a problem why don't you suspend your account and wait untill these desync issues have been resolved(and as a player with sub-par wireless i haven't noticed any lag beyond normal) that way ccp doesn't get any money for wasting your obviously precious time.

Spin, can you lay out for us, how you know that CCP has not given this the outmost of attention? Can you lay out for us, how you know that they have not migrated this fix as fast as they think a safe and secure migration of the fix can be done? Can you lay out for us, how the fixes you mention can be compared, in terms of what needed to be changed to fix the problem, to the desync problem?
Please?

Edited by: C601 on 22/07/2007 02:15:01 My problem is with desync is your petition a loss of a ship only gets you the copy and paste reply .. sorry we saw no issues with the server at that time. Thanks come again.
Tri will remember 2 weeks ago @ ROIR .. massive sync and lag. @ the gate. Lots of ships lost b/c of it.
I know CCP are working on it, but I am not holding my breath on a total fix.

Ive desynched 3 times, losing a Raven each time, in what Im told is a "really easy combat mission"
I petitioned and got the ships back, but wtf is the point of trying to run a mission where you dont even see your shields go down till yer in a pod, or you try to warp out (like 6 times) and your ship just sits there - not turning, not moving, nothing at all, until pop, or everything goes slideshow till it all stops and you cant do anything and after a while, you are again in a pod?
Im not fighting against the enemies in the mission anymore, Im apparently fighting against the stability of the server and the server is winning.
Ive decided that for the time being, I am going to take a break from EVE. Ill put on a nice, really long skill, and let the time on my sub run out.
Ill watch the forums every so often to watch and see if this problem goes away, if they ever fix it.
No, Im not going to go play WoW or anything stupid like that, I think Im gonna spend some time playing lag-free single player games, and give the MMO genre a break for now.
Hopefully, some day they will fix this problem, but until then, I dont see the point in paying for/trying to play a game where I cant advance because the stability of the server is broken.
As far as the recent downtime goes, downtime is to be expected in a MMO and, another reason why Im gonna avoid them for a while.
My last reason for avoiding these games is that the computer rarely cheats.
Fly safe, and have fun

A few weeks back or so nearly lost a faction fitted Raven and a friend his faction booster hawk to a lvl 4 mission that I've done many times before easily. Suffice to say I don't run missions in Dodixie any longer and I've sold the Raven for a much sturdier Drake. Relying on petitions are nice and all but I almost lost a Domi a week back or so to Fisty because my drones went all funny and CCPs response was 'no bug' so I'll pass on taking chances with this bs. I have to say I sympathize with the OP, I heard it said it's fixed now and I'll withhold my worries till someone says otherwise but for a major gamebreaking bug for many people, it sure took CCP a while to fix it. And frankly it's the lack of response by CCP and it's usual ostrich in the dirt behavior that's the real annoyance.

I'm confused by your first sentence. This problem isn't exactly new. It's been around since Rev2 came out, so that's over a month, I think. That's plenty of time to find a fix for it, in theory. It's not like desynching started suddenly this week.
But I agree, I'll believe it when the patch is out and there is proof that it works.

CCP is fixing it noobs, try to be somewhat active in teh comunity and actualy help out when they (CCP) as you to and log on to testserver or run the logserver and upload logs with a bugreport to give them information in stead of whining like this.
You might have found out that there will be a patch on Tuesday with a 'possible fix' as CCP are testing that right now.
