Hey guys,
I know that the Iteron V is the king in ore hauling. But Mammoth comes pretty close in the 2nd place.
So what i`m wondering is: is it efficient enough to have a Mammoth for ore hauling when one has a hulk and mine in 0.0, or would u guys still advise to have a Itheron V ?
Atm with my Minmatar Industrial skill at lvl 4 and 4 x cargo expanders II, i have 17,800 m^3 of cargo hold. (that is with no rigs, as simply cant afford them yet) Itty V has one more low slot, so my guess that it should have arrouns 23-25k m^3 with lvl 5 skill and 5 x cargo expanders II.
SO what is your opinion ? is Mammoth enough, of shaould a didicated minner aim for nothing else than Itty V ?

The mammoth should be enough, throw in some GSCs and eventualy you'l want to rig it.
Mabye you'l want to eventualy get an itty V, jut for that tiddle more efficency, but a mammoth should serve you a good long time.

An Iteron V can haul 25.270m¦ if equipped with 5 Cargo Expanders II. With 3x Cargohold Optimization Rigs it can transport 38.433m¦, but I would not fit cargo rigs in 0.0 as this would be far too dangerous for their high price. When hauling in 0.0 I usually dont even carry giant secure containers, cause its not uncommon to lose a hauler to rats or hostiles.

tractor cloak
afterburner 2x medium f-s95 extender 2x invul II
5 expander II
2 cargo rigs 1 polycarbon
33420m¦ -> 11 giants -> ~43k m¦
and i recommend spaceship command V and evasive maneuvering V aswell as some kind of "ay-" imp
if you don't need that much cargo, try just 1 expander for >12k for 4 giants and speed around with 3 local hull i-stabs and 1 nanofiber II - putting the gist back into logistics |

Mammoth will do fine for your everyday needs until you have 2 - 3 weeks training time you don't know where to dump. Size difference in cargo without rigs is few thousand m3 only. approx 4 days to train for one if you have learnings done vs approx 18 days for it 5.
Ofcource It 5 is better, in fact the best (including t2 haulers) hauler in game (as goodness of hauler is measured in it's max size) altho getting that 'the best' take some serious investment.
If you need to move cargo in carriers then minmatar haulers will beat gallente ones (mammoth + hoarder is bigger than it 5 + viator or 2x it 3). In my opinion Mammoth is the most 'cost effective' hauler in game training time wise. Bestower is ofc even faster to train but it's max size is somewhat subpar and you will use more time afterwards hauling than you save by going for that one.

If you never plan to go for T2 Transports or a Freighter then, as mentioned, the Mammoth is far and away the best bang for your training time as haulers go.
If you do someday plan to get T2 Transports and/or a Freighter then one way or another you will be training your Indy skill to L5 so then you could get the Mk-V. Of course in transports things are a bit different. Impel (Amarr) has best cargo among T2 Transports (generally better than all but a seriously pimped Mk-V) and the Charon (Caldari) is the biggest freighter. T2 Transports also have T2 resists and can fit things like an MWD easily (a Mk-V can with enough mods but you lose most of its cargo to do it).

In 0.0 the T2 vs T1 haulers really can make a difference in keeping you and your cargo safe. Really suggest you train for and base your decision off of T2 transports

Indeed, if you are going to train Industrial 5 to get into an Iteron V or etc., you may as well go one more step and train Transport ships to get the sturdiness and features that will keep your ship and cargo alive.

For survivability among the transports, not much can beat a Mastadon. The base resists and slots to fit shield tank as well as full cargo expanders in lows and rigs ,makes it a very serious choice for 0.0 and lower sec hauling.

Man has a point, even IF you're going for transports, stick with the mammoth - the mastodon and prowler as the most surviveable transports out there. After the HP buff, I never even fly T1 indies in the safest of space as they WILL get ganked. I've had people try to suicide gank my mastodon, but none have gotten into armor.
Iteron V is great, no doubt, but I would go with safe > sheer hauling power any day. (And a Mastodon can carry a full can fully rigged out, so for the miner, everything else is gravy) _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT Corp.

It look resistant indeed and can cope with quite a fight however with transport ships you need speed for survivability since you rarely have only one inty trying to shoot you.
