Think many ppl knows that i offer free killboards...
I write scripts for ppl who cant export the killmails from their old killboard to get killmails convo with them about design, answear to questions, help them with probs with the killboard , paying the server cause the one google ads bring no money and from the gtc links only a small % of servercosts come it... i dont want to make money with the service... but this behaviour really sucks...
I dont know... i would be happy if somebody offer me a free service but most seems to think that i have to made them killboards.
I now get many register mails after griefwatch is cloesing his doors, most of them are like this
Quote:
subdomain:corpname.eve-kill.net adminpass:sadasd corpname: XYA killmail:
....
Greetings blabla(CEO)
(yes even a hello or hi or something else is missing in the most)
thats 90% copy and paste from the example on eve-kill.... even i set up the board wrote it back to them... nothing... no thx i see it is used... sometimes i convo them and they them that the board is rdy... answear: "ok.. bye and fly safe"
i dont know ... such behavior isnt motivating... I'm really thinking about to close the registration at eve-kill.net the ones who have a KB will be happy and the others can ask somebody else..
my 2 cent a sad Ralle030583
P.S. there are some ppl where its not like i said above.. but theses ones i can count on one hand... P.S.S sry for the wall of text You need a free Killboard? check: http:\\www.eve-kill.net

That's sucky behaviour indeed some people have no courtesy...
For revenge on the rude ones, you could just populate their killboard with embarrasing fake lossmails

It's the internet, makes people think they can act like complete tossbuckets. Don't stop offering the killboards, but do feel free to reject impolite scumbags. That, or yeah, the populate their boards with (their) battleships killed by Badgers idea.

Hey man... I think the service you provide is Great but I'm kind of wondering why you expect anything different than what you ask for.
Quote: HOWTO register: Send a eMail to [email protected] with following content 1) Name of the subdomain you want (plz try it before pherhaps its already used) Exapmle: http://yourname.eve-kill.net 2) admin password you want to use 3) corp(s) or alliance the bord is for 4) one killmail from the corp(s)/alliance 5) if you have an old KB or the KB's were you posted mails if you want that they be imported (no guarantee if this work always) 6) if you have an banner, favicon for your KB you can attach it to the mail Example Registration Mail: Subject: KB Registration XY-Corp Text: some phrases .... 1)subdomain: XYZ.eve-kill.net 2)adminpassword: somesecretthing 3a)The KB is for 'My Corp' 3b)The KB is for 'My Corp' and 'My Firends Corp' and we want to use it together 3c)The KB is for the 'My Alliance' 4)Killmail:
(COPY AND PASTE HERE KILLMAILS)
5)Old KB: kb.someusefullurl.com
thx/greeting Name And i want to see your ingame name somewhere in the mail so i can contact you :-) Costs: This Service is free, but donations are welcome ;-)
Maybe change it out and say "send me a friendly email or you don't get anything!"
You ask for an automated message and this is what you receive. But I do think that it's odd that people don't thank you or anything. It's not how I would go about asking for a free service but... well... not everyone's like me.
Hope this helps, -Nate

you mean you're surprised that a lot of people in eve are greedy fools who want something for nothing and don't have the basic respect to give credit for the work others do for them?!
sorry for the sarcastic tone but it truly doesn't surprise me one bit. eve is a great game, but there are a TON of freeloaders that play.

I just don't think giving people a cookie cutter outline of an evemail and then expecting something more is the right way to go. I understand that it's probably upsetting but... if you want to have a pleasant convo with people why don't you ask for one.
"Some phrases" is very far from saying "something nice"
I'm not you're saying that you're at all wrong for expecting a nice chat but often times if you're providing a free service you get what you ask for. Chribba asked asked for donations to go toward the new server stuff and he received. You asked for an email outlining this, this, and this. And this is what you received... if you're unsatisfied... ASK FOR MORE! Make it clear on the site that people can't be anal butts about asking for a kill board.

Well.. EVE is a harsh game/world (god I love that phrase. Uhm, no not really.).
What type of player do you expect it attracts?
Still, pitiable behaviour.

Here's two cents for you. :)
1. The majority of griefers are kiddies.
2. The majority of folks who revel in kill mails and have an absurd need to track them fall into the first category.
3. The whole concept of kill mails is offensive.
4. Consider the kind of people you're dealing with. Do you REALLY expect anything different?
Its like offering ripouts from penthouse at the school bus stop, and being surprised when a bunch of 14 year olds come asking for one.

Sorry but i disagree, aside as being proof of something that you may have worked hard to earn, it keeps track of that which is most central to eve; pvp.
Claiming that it's just kids/griefers that require this service is a bit single minded and steriotypical don't you think? Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) |

I disagree. Your wallet and your reputation within the community are the testament of your PvP capability. How many times has someone lost a ship and not posted their killmail? How many times has someone faked a kill mail? Exactly what purpose does it serve? Pseudo-epeen inflating?
To what end?
There are certainly other means of doing so. *shrugs* I don't keep killmails or use a killboard. My wallet grows from PvPing (with luck) and my reputation is what it is; personally, I'm willing to take on anyone in the universe in equal combat. I don't need a killboard where I can post my shuttle kills, or blob ganks to make myself feel better.
What I'm suggesting is that the kind of people who DO, can somewhat be categorized by age. :) Yes, its true.

From what i hear and read, is that your wallet personally grows from consentual pvp encounters completly unlike what normally happens within eve (generically). Furthuremore, generally speaking someones pvp ability is measured on one thing and one things alone; the amount of kills he/she has got, hence the usefullness of a killmail.

Edited by: Vireya on 28/07/2007 17:09:35 "Is it much if i expect a bit of gratitude?"
the quick answer is no its not. i for one can't thank you enough for the board you set up for me which makes life much easier!
whilst there are free services there will always be people who take you and the service for granted. its something you have to learn to live with unfortunately. but hopefully eve-kill.net will be around for many years to come!
and to those who don't like km/kb... i dont use it as an epeen measure, but simply as a way to track progress, ship fittings and potential hostiles!
