My main question is: is it save to buy a Widescreen to play EVE or will I experience some visual weirdness? Is your visual field truly expanded or is it just streched? Would you recommend a widescreen? (taking only EVE in account)
Since I'm gonna buy a new rig soon I would also like to know whether there is hardware which should generally be avoided regarding EVE. Some recommendations on brands and such would be appreciated. For example I heard that EVE doesn't like some sound cards. Any advice?
Thanks in advance

In the Graphics Options field (when you press escape), you can set the resolution you want to run the game at, it only gives the resolutions that your screen supports.
So in short yes, it works fine. I run at 1440x900 and its good (not stretched). Am about to upgrade to 1920x1200 and am not expecting there to be an issue.
If you want to take it to the limit, you can even use the Matrox Triple Head to go to achieve resolutions of approx 3800x1024 (forget the exact resolution) and again it works fine.
Hope that helps Kuna

No visual wierdness, only visual cool. I recently went to a widescreen 22" LCD from a 19" CRT and WOW! Go for it, you won't regret a thing. Eve in all its proper glory! _____________________________ Who, me? A signature? Really? |

The only thing you have to do is make sure you change the resolution to a widescreen format. 1280x1024 will look distorted but when you change EvE to a native widescreen format it will be fine.
