Hey, I don't know if this has been proposed or not, but it wasn't in the common ideas thread. I was wondering if we could get like a*****pit view or something. I'm not saying control from there, just a way to lock the camera at the ship's*****pit and follow it in terms of roll, pitch, etc while allowing you to look around within a defined 'window' space so you could look to the left and right a little. Just a thought.

In the backstory section it talks about how their are things called camera drones that orbit your vessel to give the pilot the third person view needed to properly manuver during combat operations. If their was a*****pit view it would likely be in a fixed postion even if there were several mounted postions which would create blind spots.

Yes I like the idea of the c-o-c-kpit view (stupid profanity filter.....) It would be nice to have different co-ckpit views for different ships

How To "EVE First Person view":
1. Buy glue and green paper 2. glue green paper onto face 3. Dim light in room
Congratulations! You are now enjoying a realistic first person view of an EVE pilot.

Oh goodness, I couldn't even imagine trying to fly from a "first person" view. Most of the time I'm zoomed out in the tactical display so I can maintain proper situational awareness.
Besides, our ships don't really have a*****pit. We're shoved in an armored egg buried deep inside the bowels of our ship, plugged into a wiring harness and surrounded by goo. Our senses are completely bypassed by the computer. What we see fed to us by our camera drones, or recreated by our tactical computers for maximum situational awareness. Even the sounds we hear are complete virtualizations generated by our combat computers.
These ships are just way to complicated to fly with manual control. We think about the direction we want to go, and the computer figures out how to make the ship do that. We tell the computer what we want to destroy, and all of our turrets are independently controlled by the tactical computer per our instructions.
We're not so much pilots, as we are supervisors. Now, if you're interested in more of a Tom Cruise experience, where you're staring outside a*****pit window and controlling your ship with a joystick, I understand there are a few job openings at Home Guard for in-station taxicab drivers. Let me know, and I'll see if I can get you hooked up. ;-)

So maybe you get to access the occular and audio devices of the helmsman or a droid on the bridge.. If that isn't too cosy for you all. It would be amusing if you could randomly lose the feed when taking hits on the hull.
