Dear Devs,
I hope to get your attention on this. Drones got nerfed since 2.0.2 patch, in doing lesser damage. I rat alot and since 2.0.2 it takes awfull longer to kill the same rats. Also i do a 1vs1 fight with a corpy so now&then just for fun when we wait for rats to respawn, and i congratted him for his stronger tank, but he replied he hadn't done anything different. His tank was exactly the same but the drones had a really harder time to get him into shield. Now, this is the prove that drones got ripped in the damage to used to do.
I wrote a bugreport on this (Report ID: 41628) but it was invalidated within a few minutues because there is no directx diag and dumps and logs included. These are all irrelevant also, because drones don't show the dmg done in log. So, my bugreport is valid, but the stuff you conditioned to receive in bugreport is just not relevant in this case. So i hope to get your attention in this way and i hope you will look into it, fix the drone damage.
Thank you very much in name of every fanatic drone pilot.
Inza Onoa.

Mine are doing fine, but I was testing on big, hulking, battleship sized targets.
They couldn't hit a buddy in an orbiting ibis, but they're heavy drones, I expect this (and they absolutely ate him when he stopped orbiting and tried to fly away).
If your damage is lower on BS, I dunno. If your damage is lower on smaller stuff, check your drones orbit velocity, the old bug with Drone Nav affecting orbit velocity instead of just MWD velocity may be back.
Are you living out of a POS? If you are, I think there are some issues with applying bonuses to ships when hopped into from space. -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales |

There are several ways that you could investigate this behaviour. The most reliable would be to find someone on the test server and ask them for their logs after having your drones shoot at them. Then it's just a matter of analysing the files to see if something odd is happening.
If you have a steady connection and you're determined to investigate this on your own, an alternative method would be to time how long it takes your drones to destroy a secure container or other stationary object.
You'd need to let 5 drones keep going for about 20 minutes to get a decent sample size (~1000 shots). If you do this and the damage is significantly lower than you'd expect, then you've got a valid cause for concern. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |

Can't attack GSC with drones, unless they changed it recently.
Anyway back to topic, i haven't noticed any difference, i usually rat in a Raven and have 5x medium drones that i use for cruisers while killing BS. And usually the drones kill a cruiser in the same time as i kill a BS and haven't noticed anything changing there. But i guess the only way to test is to have the drones shoot on something that logs the damage for a long time, then check stats and see if it looks alright. Another thing could be that they added HP to the rats you're shooting.

I hadn't noticed a difference, but i might test it. It could be something as simple as drone interfacing not applying.

Nope this isn't logic or either valid. Because the change in drone damage is from client version 2.0.2 and higher, and we're not able to logon to a 2.0.1 server anymore. So we can't get the before-after results to compare. If we go checking dmg at the current server thats fine, but you won't be able to compare drone dmg with what it used to be in 2.01. So, comparing anything without 2.0.1 logs is invaled or either unlogically.

Edited by: inza onoa on 02/08/2007 10:11:52 Rugs, its logical that you notice little difference. In this topic i speak about fanatic drone pilots and your not one of them. We use ships that have drastical drone bonusses so little variances to their behaviour (drone behaviour) is quickly noticed. The more bonus multiplication you got, the earlier small changes are bigly seen/noticed.
Indeed it might be somthing simple that drone interfacing bonus doesn't apply correctly, but thats for the developers to check out I hope they will fix it in next patch.

The log file they ask for is normally one created by the LogServer app in the EVE folder (start logging before testing, stop just after). This along with the dxdiag file pretty much tells them exactly what your client is doing and can be extremely useful.

Yes that *can* be very usefull in a lot of situations. Not in this case however. As you could read, there is no dx related problem, and there is no client bug so the log app doesn't register anything unusual. Not only that, drones dmg are not logged at the drone's pilot side so its really a difficult to apply bug report. Its just something that changed server side and the drone pilots notice it, no client crashes, bugs, logs or whatsoever involved.

You can open the bug report again you do understand that right?
If you believe this to be a bug, keep on asking it to be looked at. Till they reply saying the damage was changed then you should continue to report it as a bug.
This post won't do alot of good.

The bug with Drone Navigation is back. It is affecting drone orbit velocity as well as drone MWD velocity.
I checked this with my Vespa IIs, they were orbiting at 600ish m/s instead of the 510 they are supposed to. I have Drone Navigation IV, flying a Dominix, but the only drone mods on it are a pair of Drone Link Augmentors. -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales |

Edited by: inza onoa on 06/08/2007 13:34:28 Ok these were some helpfull replies thanks guys. Whiteman, i shall try to repost the bugreport, until the devs do something about it.
Jurgen, I haven't checked or noticed any differences on the drone navigation, but if there is a bug in it, you too should make bugreports until they fixed it :)
Especially since nos most probably is going to be nerfed in the next patch, our weaker drones will totally nerve the nosdomi pilot.
/me will post bugreports until either i die or they will fix it :-)

Edited by: Jurgen Cartis on 06/08/2007 23:34:23 Got a reply to my bugreport, of the 'this is already fixed on our internal servers, we might be able to hotfix it, we might not' type.
Result, as you already know, is that our drones orbit faster than they're supposed to, and often end up outrunning their tracking speeds. Either fix this, or give us a Drone Motion Prediction skill, or both.
Please don't make us wait until Rev 2.2 to have our drones work right again! My Dominix is already ugly enough. Or maybe this is a temporary nerf on nosdomis until the nos changes goes through.
Try firefox perhaps, inza? -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales |

Conveniantly, they seemed to have removed the ability to bugreport against lower version clients (2.0.2 removed) so i can't neither bugreport the drone malfunction as reopening my current bugreport. Yeah CCP, thats also a way of "solving" bugreports.

Ok an usefull update:
Like Jurgen said, the orbit speed of drones is a bit wrong atm which results in tracking problems, especially when using a drone navigation module. I used that module hence the problem with drone damages. I removed the drone navigation module and replaced it with a drone tracking enhancer module, the drone damages seem kewl now!
So developers!! The cause of the problem is known, is the drone orbit speed which is off, causing tracking problems on the drones and results in lower damage done.
I suggest devs fix the orbit speed and this tread to be closed as we know the cause and solution now.

Drones have never shown updated stats in the show info. We've been *****ing about this for years.
Show info only shows base stats, your Damage Mod will still show 1.92 for those Ogre IIs, not the 7.776 you probably have it up to.

I admit I was making a few implicit assumptions:Drones were doing the correct amount of damage before the patchThe 'correct amount' has not been changed as part of the patch.
If this bug is back to haunt us again (drones orbiting too fast), then you can use the methods I described to check their damage output, since the formula for that is well-documented. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |
