Edited by: Maltitol on 07/08/2007 17:33:45 Gallente is the PWN race, and im loving every minute of it, but to do serious DMG, you need lots of SP, this is the only drawback i find... t2 large blasters take 60 - 90 days to get (dependant on skills/implants), so its a real crawl... i pwn pretty well in a cruiser with named meds, but it took me forever to get there and properly fit it and all..
Gallente is PVP based race, and a good one at that.. so if you plan to mission at all, you will have to 100% re-vamp setups and skills...
If you want to mission alot (easy isk), go for Caldari.. mind you they have very ugly avatars
Edit: i put t2 meds in when i cant even use them, i meant named

Blasters = Gallente
On the other hand Autocannons are pretty nice too if you like close fast fights.
In any case it doesnt matter which race you start with as there aren't that many skills with racial prefix and with the exception of lvl5 they are relative fast to train.

I like gallente for the blasters as well as the drones. The blaster ships are unmatched in damage potential and the drone ships are very versatile, making them great for a variety of situations. ------------- Stop whining.

Just keep in mind that Blasters/Drones start to suck ass in gang pvp as the gang gets bigger.
Past a certain point you will be useless with Blasters/Drones.
Solo Blasters/Drones are great.

Gallente bloodlines have the worst starting stats, better off making Achura or Khanid, avoiding any racial L4 or L5 on creation and training Gallente ships...

I'm a Caldari-Achura male (best attributes by far) piloting Gallente ships, with most of my combat skill points in Drones. It seems to be working out so far, although I'm still a bit behind my peers in terms of actual DPS and financial self-sufficiency. I should catch up sooner or later though. ---

Gal kinda suck at first, but get uber as you get into the higher SPs. You have to get in close to use blasters so your navigation will have to go up. They also use cap (as does getting in range) so your cap skill will have to go up. You take a lot of damage getting in range so your tank will have to go up. It is a bit different then popping in and spamming missiles.
Also: drones, drones, drones.

thats when you train up for t2 rails ^^ should be rather quick, and can always get both as you go along.

Just keep in mind that by the time you get skilled in a race it is very well possible that because of balance changes another race has become "teh pwn". Hence it's better to just train whatever you think you will like, eg like flying around in a lot of ducktape train minmatar like drones train gallente like missles train caldari etc.

blasters do crazy damage at very, very close ranges - if you can get close up and fast then you will scare the **** out of people with huge DPS. If you can't get close then you are dead/useless. the good thing is railguns are nextdoor training wise, and they are very long range and will make use of tracking/damage bonuses, caldari ships get range bonuses and gallente falloff however I think...

Odd i like my domi for lvl 4's, but never mind that. First i trained gallente then i dabbled in caldari now im gonna play around in minmatar. Ive found being able to fly one or two races has come in handy.

i just started using domi for lvl 4's.. amazing, i was allways using the mega..well drones ftw now!
i have cal bs up at lvl 3 myself.. great for ratting.. but thats about it.. for me anyways considering i want t2 rails & blasters & cap ships...
but the op;s main question, Gallente is definitely a good race to choose, its just high SP oriented. You dont hear many whines about Gallente.

Not always... All I have to do is switch out my combat meds for cap rechargers and my myrm has no trouble grinding out level 4's.
Gallente is a good race, and one of the easier ones for low-sp players. The NOS nerf is hitting gallente somewhat hard on the low sp end since drone boats with nos are deadly.
Minmatar is also a great choice, they have plenty of good ships.

This isn't really true.
Most people hate on Charisma because they don't fly in gangs.
That large starting Charisma is a huge boon when you decided to start flying a mindlinked Command Ship.
Mindlinked Claymore/Damnation/Eos/Vulture are huge helps to gangs and are very valued by bigger pvp corps.

I completely disagree, crosstraining is a very bad idead, especially at such an early stage. Myself i stick to one race and only train skills that i know will help me at ALL times, for example. If i train up on gallente all the way to BS, then i switch to start training caldari to BS. Yes you might have the versitility of flying whatever yo want bt in my opinion specialization is the key. Lets say someone who is playing just as long as you but instead trains for minmitar and all that time you waisted in caldari he uses to train minmitar. All that extra time is put into specialization thus perfecting his skills and making him uber. Whereas on the other hand you are over there flying a raven and a mega with horrible skills. And you will more then likely loose alot of isk that way, as well as ALOT of time and sp.
Just stick with 1 race, its the best way to go.

shrug and my bs v in gall and t2 heavy drones work nicely i mean hell its what a week to get a raven + torps? I did it cause i needed a change yes specializing is better shortterm, but at some point you will get the urge to train another race :)

QFT, Minmatar: high dps, crappy tank, high speed Gallente: High DPS at very close ranges and drones Caldari: Missiles, versatability with ewar Amarr: Good tank, decent/bad dps at most ranges
Does anyone know how to get my name capitalized? |
