As you get better you die less, so your expenses drop and rewards stay about the same, which = profit. Then there is also some nice finds (pith x- rattlensakes/cnrs, etc) which bump up your wallet quite a bit. You can also get yourself into contract/market whoring with an alt and make yourself some nice cash there.

I dunno how I do it. I just keep killing people over and over with various T2 and faction modules, and when you maintain a 98% kill/death ratio, it starts adding up I guess.

For the most part, you just get lucky every now and again and get really really good loot. Lots of T2 loot though does pay the bills nicely, but it's not huge income. It's when you start getting dreadnought ransoms for 2 bil and people doing silly things like ejecting from commandships and faction battleships taht you get paid big.

Not sure tbh, I lose a lot and I dont seem to sell much loot either but I always have enough for a new ship(s) and gametime.
Seriously not sure how I make all the isk

It doesn't make sense just going after ever ship u come across you gotta pick the most profitable ships for sec hit (for me it does anyway).
I only go after miners in barges or BS's and mission runners.
Recently i made 1 billion isk from a mission runner kill.
For me mission runners have the most expensive items on them and they wont be setup for pvp.
So get a good gang with someone who can probe and go and get some people running missions in pimped out pve ships.
Remember there are a lot of very stupid people in this game so us this to your advantage

The important thing to remember is that a successfull pirate fights on HIS OWN terms.
If you accept challenges, or let enemies anger you into fighting on their terms, you WILL lose isk. Perhaps not everytime, but it WILL happen.
Remember, you're not a coward. You're an entreprenuer. Take risks with your investmet (ship), but only take calculated risks. ----------------------------------------------- Could someone tally how many times this topic has been beat to death? |

I'd pretty much have to agree with what Nyck said.
I don't fly large ships, preferring 'ceptors and HAC. I'm a Pirate by trade, not a PVPer. I fly around looking for unfair odds on my own side - entering a system, taking a quick scan of all the hotspots and engaging anything I think I can kill. That doesn't only mean smaller ships than yourself (hell, I've taken on a few BC in my 'ceptor).
People may challenge you to 1v1s or whine about being able to kill you in a fair fight. Maybe so, but if you're in it to make ISK, you shouldn't be looking for the fair fights. I personally would never enter an arranged 1v1, as it's a good way to get yourself ganked.
Basically, learn from your losses. Next time you come up against a similar situation, either change your tactics or know that you're going to lose and don't engage.

I totally agree. I stick to smaller ships in general. I also do not spend on new ships until my efforts have paid for it. A couple kills can pay for a handful of interceptors if luck is on your side.

Personally i make money in loads of different areas but i make a reasonable amount from ransoms. 30-50mil every battlecruiser u get adds up over time.

nothing but profit actually except when u blow up hulks just for the fun of it (the smack :D ) will try something new asswell: ransoming in highsec or else be suicided (altho most wont believe that i can blow them up because they think concord covers their ass )

Put a couple of weeks into it every couple of months and grin as you have 5-10bil to waste.
(5-10bil might sound alot, but it really isn't if you have expensive tastes.)

First of all I fly a cheaply fitted ship, as a pirate you will get smacked at a gate camp sometime or get 10v1ed. Secondly the ship I fly is capable of taking down bigger ships then my own. I basicly need one ransom and I earned my ship. I think I go an avarage 10-20mill + / ship I use.
I also have an alt that gives some nice isk, but I only made that char to be able to buy some pirate faction ships later on. I dont really need the isk for pirating.
If you need to get isk from somewhere else to be able to afford pirating you are doing it wrong. Signature removed - please reduce your signature graphic height to less than 120 pixels - Jacques([email protected]) |

Face it m8, pirates are the poor sod's in the wordl of EVE. Any other profession, wheter its trade, mining, manufacturing, belt ratting or mission running can make you ALOT more isk. Apart from rookies or people who really don't have a clue, you virtually can't earn less then a pirate. But cheer up, I heard pirating is supposed to be very exciting...

I'm about breaking even with piracy, i had a bunch of isk before i started so i started out with something really expensive. (T2 Siege Raven with 2 heavy nos and 3 x pg rigs and caldari navy bcu's in lows). That worked REALLY well, until it faced extincion by the blob. The worst pvp'er in EVE :

Well, welcome to the world of pirating I suppose.
Out of curiousity...which do you prefer more? ISK or kills?
Depending on which you want more of, you can kind of swing to one or the other end of the spectrum.
If you want kills, sit on a gate with some friends and play whack-a-mole.
If you want ISK, do a bit of research into what lofty29 is doing.
Good luck to ya!

I would never pirate in a raven solo....It just is not the ship for the job.
You need something with alittle more speed and fitting options. what happens when you warp in on someone 30km off, youll never catch him in a raven.
The only i see slow ships being viable is if you can get a warp in point within web range, other then that try something faster. Hells
Let me liberate you of your T2 mods. T2 mods are dropping in price, because of invention?? No its because of pirates. |

Too many people talking in corp chat, plus if I get bored I can dec people on a whim. I much prefer playing hermit, for the moment anyways.
Though I never thought of luring them in to low sec to murder... I am trying to fix my sec status, but still.... you've given me idea's
