Hey, well what I'm looking for is opinions on the best Minmatar ships for 0.0 ratting.
I have been told that the Assault Frigates are good but can take a while to take out the rats, same for Interceptors.
I'm still training my character up and am currently working on the skills for AFs. (Already have a Jaguar)
So pritty much just looking for everyones opinions on their prefared set ups, reasons why, cost effectiveness etc.
Really looking for a reasonably cheap set up that can make decent Isk from the rats without being too vunerable to Pirates etc....I'm asking a lot I know.

well we have a guy rattin drone region in a hurricane using passive shield tank so I guess if it works for him it'll work for you lol

AF's work well against sansha due to the resists... But as you know its going to take a while to kill a BS.
I have had great luck 0.0 ratting in a Thorax, so a rupture could probably do the same.
Hurricane is a good option...
Sounds like you are not ratting in friendly space, so I would not use a BS- too slow to escape.

Yeah wasn't really looking to rat in a BS.
But a cane sounds good, I can already fly them and am close to having the skills to fly them well.

This may sound a bit outlandish to some, but if your skills aren't fantastic (like mine weren't when I did 0.0 ratting in minmatar ships), use a maelstrom. 1200mm howitzers, xl shield booster, 3-4 hardeners, lots of cap mods. Can't go wrong.
If your skills are quite high, the typhoon will actually be more productive. You'll want high end drone skills (drone interfacing 4-5, tech2 heavies are preferred) and decent armor tanking skills.

I rat in a hurricane, but i got podded by roaming pvpers. the hurricane really is good at ratting, but can't stand up to pvpers if the ratting set-up (fitting).

I'm y'know, kinda cheapskate so I experimented with a mostly T1 fitted cruiser.
The rupture fits the bill perfectly.
I fit:
4 x 220mm 1 x med nos 1 x HML
1 x 10mn MWD 1 x cap rech 1 x web
1 x med armor rep T2 (must be T2) 2 x specific passive hardners 1 x DCU 1 x gyrostab
5 x light drones
This works with everything t1 except the repper. 
I've killed pretty much every spawn in my local 0.0 with it, including a 3.8mil faction spawn (loot was crap).
I just don't see the point in wasting extra ISK on a BC etc etc 
Y'just MWD up to the battleship and orbit at 3km - standard speed should see you speed tanking them, then let rip your guns and missile on BS while using your drones to kill the frigs once you have aggro.
Plus, no decent loot if someone kills you

i've always wanted to npc in a vaga in sansha space....
somethign like:
5 220 II's, tractor
10mn mwd, 3 capII
MarII, eanm II, 3x gyro II
6x small thermal T2 drone.

I never use min AF's to npc, but I rat guristas so they just don't work (from my experience, you do not make enough isk using AF's to justify your time, go big or go home).
Hurricane is my favourite atm. Why? Because so far I've lost 6 of them travelling (not ratting, just going to buy ammo a ways away with no scout =() and they are damn cheap to replace. Fitting is:
6x 650mm, 2x heavy launchers
1x AB, 3x Cap Recharger
1x MAR, 3x Hardeners, 2x Gyro
Kills thing pretty fast, is hella cheap.
But if you want to kill bs spawns quick, grab a typhoon, BS 5, torps and ACs. With a load of drones it's got some great dps and the tank is *adequate*. The tempest tanks better but I like the damage off the typhoon.

The Cyclone has been working perfectly for me. Never even have to jump away. Affordable to lose, relatively speaking.

I've been a minnie pilot from day 1, and I can't even fly other races till this day on :).
Anyway. For 0.0 ratting there are various ships viable.
I assume you want to use a t1 this, because if you would be able to fly t2, then I don't think you would've post this :).
The easiest is the Tempest, just be carefull because your are in a BS and you cannot go in 0.0 solo. If you have an alliance there with some safe area then I recommend tempest as #1 ratting ship.
Fitting:
High:
6x1400mm howizer (t2 if you can get, really makes a BIG diffirence).
2x Drone control links (for more drone range, optional).
med:
1x XL shield booster (prefer t2, does much better boost).
1x Shield boost amp
2x rat specefic hardener
1x sensor booster. (if you dont need this, put on a large shield extender, or another hardener, or even een tracking comp if you have problems tracking).
low:
3x Gyrostabalizer T2 (must have :D).
1x damage control.
2x slots for grid/cpu. you might want to ditch the damage control if you need an extra slot to fit it all.
Choose ammo types carefully, make notice that you can add your acuracy falloff to your optimal, optimal+falloff is your max range, so don't be scared about tracking speed for a 20km optimal when using EMP, you will still have a long range. Pop the frigs first, then cruisers, then bs. (you might want to leave the frigs for the drones if they come to close.
Warp in at a high range, like 60-100 depending on your ammo which also sets your optimal. Every NPC will fly directly towards you untill they come in orbit range which means you will have 0 transveral velocity. This is where you kill the frigs and cruisers.
other options:
Hurricane (really good option!! cheap also).
high:
6x 425mm autocannons (t2 if possible).
2x whatever, leave empty untill you filled the meds and lows, then see what fits.
med:
1x 10mn microwarpdrive
3x large shield extender (best named or t2)
low:
3x gyrostabalizer
1x damage control
2x shield power relay
*You can also put 3 shield power relay's in low for more shield recharge.
I am able to tank 2 battleships this setup. I can kill 3 bs, but I might have to warp out. Make sure you choose your ammo types well for this one, because it will matter a lot when dealing with NPC's. Just orbit the bsses at about 5km-10km, they wont hit you. the Missiles wont do enough dmg to penetrate your shield.
Thats basicly what i recommend for 0.0. Typhoon is nice, but it requires A LOT of skillpoints to be effective. It's a cheap alternative for a good tanker tho. Be prepared to go back to base once in a while to get cap injectors.
A t2 frigate is not an option in my opinion. It simply does not have the damage output to kill 0.0 rats. You can kill frigs and the ocasional cruiser. But BC's and especially BS can just tank you.
If you want to use a frig however, use a wolf with dual medium shield extender and a rack of 2 gyrostabs. You want AC's on this due to the low powergrid you will have left. No speed mod :(.
Jaguar might be a better option, but it has 1 gun less than wolf. It has a better tank and better speed.

Mealstrom (havent tried this one yet, but can take quite a punch, I think 1200mm arty would be nice on this).

For hurricane 620mm artys, tractorbeam and salvager in hi, ab and 3 caprechargers in med and 3 gyros and mar + 2 eanm or rat specific hardeners in lows.
Typhoon with mwd and 2 nosses used to have chances to escape from some solo hostiles.

Typhoon is the best minmatar ratting ship.
1x Tractor beam
1x Cloak (hiding from baddies, switch for a salvager if you arent worried about that)
2x Heavy Nos
4x Siege bays
1x Target painter (allows the siege to crush battlecruiser sized ships)
1x Cap recharger
1x Sensor booster (you will see why later)
1x MWD
1x LAR
1x BCU
1x WCS (you are ratting, there is nothing shameful here)
4x Hardeners
6x Rat Specific heavy drones (unless you have ogre IIs)
5x Rat Specific light drones (always rat specific)
You can loot, won't run out of cap, and no rat can tank you. Cloak lets you hide from attackers, wcs gives you a little padding in case for some reason you aren't checking local as often as you should. Sensor booster offsets the cloak and the wcs. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fitting a stab on a ratting ship.
